In Thailand its called “chaa num yen” which literally translates to tea cold milk but this is not the version I am used to or it’s just incorrect? Because we make it with “red tea” the red tea is brewed and it gets sifted trough this sock like thing many times an gets a very dark orange colour I haven’t heard of this version.. aha

The recipe: 1/3 cup water brown sugar black dye (mix all together) 1/2 cup tapioca starch When sticky add another 1/2 cup of water Roll into big ball Roll into a long rod Cut into small pieces Shape into little balls Boil for 15 minutes Make tea Add ice Pour in the tea Add milk/ cream Stir Drink ✨

Thanks for the recipe. I boil the boba in a mixture of brown sugar and water. Once perfectly boiled, I put it (together with the brown sugar slurry) on top of cold plain soymilk with lots of ice. Yums.

Boba milk tea is actually from Taiwan but it's so popular in Thailand. I just want to tell that if you visit Thailand and order 'Thai' boba milk tea, you'll get the super orange tea with boba tho. I personally like them both.😂

One is from Chunshuitang in Taichung, and the other is from Hanlin Teahouse in Tainan.
