Differences between words are not differences between designs. Kanabo and Tetsubo both means Metal/Iron stick. There were various designs,some made with wood and reinforced with metal bands and studs,other of full metal ,but much thinner,and sometimes hollow. Some even looked like european mace. A type,called Aribo or Kirikobo was basically a two foot exagonal rod of solid metal.
@TheTimbs_

@@DiesInEveryFilmI don’t think the tetsubo would be solid. It would be hollow to reduce weight. That’s just my guess.
Props! Great technique there - not rounding the wood off, hammering the straps, even using flat head screws cos they look the part. Love the way those bricks disintegrate as well. 10/10.

Nice look alternating brass steel and copper, and very clever adding that flat stock. Also giving the handle a bit more girth and a more gradual taper gave it a lot of strength. Nice project, I might have to try something similar.

Broke my heart when you busted the last one. This one seem to do better. Something I learn when I was making canes and staffs is that with wood the way the grain of the wood runs is everything. Found good vids from the Shiner Faction who made traditional Irish Shilahlees. If the grain isn’t straight up and down and across. It will break everytime. He made practice sticks because it literally took years to make a blackthorn shilahlee. He would spends hours at the lumber yard picking out boards that had the correct grain. I had a lot of success with Crate Merdel bushes and another bush whose name escapes me that has twisted grain. Haven’t broke one of those yet after drying properly. I’d love to see you take on a Cane, staff, or shilehlee

Man I love this build. Such a brutal and intimidating weapon. Only thing I’d change, and this is totally just a personal preference, are the steel “rails” holding the studs; gives it too much of a modern look IMO, but maybe that’s what you were going for! Regardless, this was awesome.
