Bought PVA bags and mesh from Temu. Work as they should and at a fraction of the cost of UK tackle shops. I'd wage a lot of the stuff in our stores are made in the same factories out in Asia but repackaged with added Carp tax! Some stuff you get what you pay for but other 'basic' items - you can't really go wrong unless you like the fancy branded packaging (which just goes in the bin!).

Back in December 2023 i had my Fox Low Level Carryall stolen that had 20 years of terminal tackle most of it new inside a Fox Double F Box as well as 60lb x 1oz Reuben Heaton scales,Fox SX alarms and other stuff totally around £800. So unbeknown to men my missus actually bought me that exact rig box with all the bits and pieces in it as a stocking filler for Christmas. Bless her she doesn’t fully get how naff most of this stuff is and most carp anglers wouldn’t go near any cheap knock off rubbish that is sold on those sort of sites. However to be fair i have used the extender stops that came in my pack and they were spot on 👌 And i have some Fox hooks from a few years back that are also a very shiny metallic so i wouldn’t be too bothered about the glare from them cheap hooks but they do look savage and maybe crimp the barb down.

There’s more of this stuff manufactured in China, perfectly good, badged for sale in the U.K. massively marked up than most realise. As far as budget alarms go you shouldn’t laugh I have been putting £6 alarms to use for ages to great effect stalking. They weight nothing, fix to the rod directly, have a roller wheel to operate them, the same principal as our normal alarms. Ok there is one tone and volume but they also have a small LED reacting to the spin of the wheel too. Much smaller than your admittedly rubbish “rape alarm” they are brilliant for poking that stalking rod through bushes and urban fishing where there is nowhere to sink a bank stick. Not for night fishing they do a brilliant job and you are not worried about losing them at a dodgy venue as there is no resale value. Hunt them down, they are held on the rod by a rubber O ring.

A lot of the time the product doubles in price every time it changes hands. Lets say the factory in china can make a product for £1, they then sell it to a distributor for £2, the distributor sells it to a wholesaler in the target country for £4, the company whose brand will ultimately go on the product in shops buys them for £8, they then sell them to shops for £16 and the shop sells them to the consumer for £32. Obviously it's not exactly that clean and there are incurred costs by each company along the way so it's not all profit but that's a simplification of how it works

Shall we just say you've a pair of balls on this channel... Easy to slag off the Chinese but, and it's a big but, why don't you slag off mainstream stuff on your work channel?... Bought a bivvy on your advice, utter shit even for £120... Ripped 2nd time putting it up, now what you should've said was "Don't buy this bivvy it's utterly gash".... You crack me up fella.... Get a set.... Fulla...

Hi Ben. Sorry to hear that. What shelter did you go for? I've never had a bivvy break on me on a shoot before so I can only list what I see. Some stuff is better than others for sure but I've never had a bivvy not do it's job. Sorry you had a bad experience with your purchase. I'm guessing you got a refund if it was only it's second use though 👌🏻

You can't blame reviews by carpology for your misfortune with a product. You were probably too heavy handed with it on your first session which weakened it to the point it broke on 2nd session. Regardless, we still need sites like carpology out their giving honest reviews on carp equipment....why don't you get some balls as you say and start putting reviews up yourself if your not happy with the reviews that carpology provide 🤔
