Testing the Sony 4K AX53 in Davinci Resolve ("Blockbuster" coloring) -- Gwen on the Fence!
This is fantastic looking for a freaking HANDYCAM! Don't forget that this is a handheld camera that (barely) fits in my pocket! [...but it does fit!] If you see a flickering/moire, it's not the camera -it's Resolve and I'll explain below.
The 100Mbps bitrate makes it have enough detail to color grade it pretty well in Davinci Resolve, and I could definitely achieve a fairly sophisticated "Blockbuster Look". If I took the time to lighten the eyes, it would have looked even better! I did add a 35mm film grain to it as well.
I almost didn't upload this in full 4k because there is a GLITCH in my current version of Davinci Resolve (12.5.5). It makes sort of a moire effect (or an outright flickering) which the original video doesn't have whatsoever. In fact, it was TERRIBLE when I used power windows to create vignettes, and I had to remove them. Davinci Resolve 14 is right around the corner, so hopefully that will be fixed. So, if you see a flickering... it's not the camera.
This is why I didn't lighten the eyes, by the way... I spent too much time trying to fix something I couldn't fix because of the glitch! :)

It's such a wonderful camera. I use it for all of my productions and so far I've had great results. In time, things will be even better as I slowly learn the proper settings for each setting. It's just amazing that this sort of quality comes from a handycam, as you pointed out. I can wholly recommend this camera for everyone looking to get started in video production.
My wife and I, (we're both in our early 60's) have reservations at the River Street Inn next week. When researching the River Street Inn, I discovered a KZread video of you and your lovely bride-to-be checking out the River Street Inn back in 2009. She was beautiful back then, and the children are also. I can see their mother in their faces. You've got a great looking family. Congratulations to both you and your lovely wife. !
