This was so on point, and hands down one of the most useful videos I have seen on techniques that are actually untapped by so many users. Amazing video! Many years ago, I used a very old tripod with a rusty ball head, legs together, combined with a very old camera without autofocus and totally got discouraged :-D This is bringing the magic back again! Very well explained and documented.

Great suggestions. It reminds me of when I was in college many years ago. I shot a short film for Cinematography class using a Super 8 camera. I had one shot where I wanted a Steadicam effect as I followed the main character up a long set of stairs and onto a patio. I used my tripod fully collapsed, and held the top of the tripod as I walked. My teacher was impressed with the smoothness of the shot, and I ended up receiving a B+ for my short as a result. At the moment, I have a Benro fluid head and a monopod which I believe will work well together. Thanks for another inspirational video.

Watching this video till the end while I only own a cheap monopod & gimbal (both are for mobile phone 😂) I love these tips! the forest & teh model looks very beautiful too 😍

Wow, I've never used a monopod before but it looks incredibly versatile. Reminds me alot of my glidecam days, I use gimbals for work frequently now but i miss that organic feel you get from non motorized stabilization.

Yeah I always wanted to find a way to get a subtle handheld move, Gimbals don't give me that and actual handheld is too shaky

As always, this was very instructive and a joy to watch! Gimbals are probably some of the most overrated tools in a filmmaker's kit. Thank you for all the amazing tips and your endless work to make it as entertaining as it can be!

Can't wait to try these moves! As a woman in the business, gimbals are too heavy for me to carry especially over long periods of time- wouldn't even dare put a gimbal above my head for those drone shots- thanks for the alternative!

I use the fluid head and handle as a shouler rig, it works very well, and the monopod itself for interviews were I don't have room for a tripod (traveling+ confined space).

Dude, this was SO helpful! I'm starting into wedding filmmaking, and while I have a gimbal, I'm trying to find a stabilization solution that will allow for quicker changes and a more organic feel. This monopod idea might be great for weddings... thanks!

@@MJDreams I haven’t yet, no. I’m thinking that it might be a bit too unwieldy for all the moving around we do at a wedding. I have found that using a camera strap and not moving much does a pretty good job, though. This would still be interesting to try… 🤔

Amazing Moves, shot 7 has to be my favorite. I also like the natural movement of the shots with out the post stabilization. I'll never look at monopods the same way again lol.

Great video and technique. To my eye, these moves look better than many gimbal moves. I think that having an anchor point on the ground goes a long way to more stable-looking footage. Can’t wait to practice these moves.

Honestly I can get the same effects without a monopod. It's all about Rig weight and balance, wide to normal focal length, good technique and some post prod. That girl is really hot though
