Agreed. I think it’s so cool Dyson wants to work with her as much and as often as they have, but the buyer audience for these uber-luxury styling tools is probably a pretty small slice of the pie. I wonder if she is under contract with Dyson, and if so whether that contract has some sort of non-compete agreement that would prohibit featuring other tools until the contract expires. I’m not that bothered if that’s the case, because if I were in Mel’s position I’d probably be thrilled to have an opportunity to do business with such a giant like Dyson that does invest so much into research and development. It would be nice to see more of a range of diffuser reviews though. As for this blow dryer, I’d be tempted if over time it gets a reputation for being very durable and long-lasting, as that would justify the up front cost more for me. I do have a very sensitive scalp, so in that way I am more the target audience in some way I suppose.

Lol for $629 that thing better wash my dishes and sweep my floors too!! 🤣🤣🤣

But do you have to buy a whole new hair dryer for the attachments, ot do they work with the older dryer?

I personally find the features really interesting, specially the sensors that can identify which attachment you're using and which heat settings you had previously. It's just-- I freaking LOVE IT! HOWEVER I must say that I also find it a bit excessive, mainly the number of attachments. 5 different attachments to diffuse your hair? Sounds a little too much for me. Also the price. Definitely too much for me, but I can understand why it's so expensive. Such technology is hard to create and the amount of it this diffuser has is just crazy. Props to Dyson for creating it. Did I like it? Yes. Would I buy it? Nope.

$499 for a hairdryer? That's WAY out of my budget. Think of how many awesome products I can buy to keep my dead hair's waves and living scalp healthy looking 😒 just sayin'

Not your eyeliner, lip and shirt ALSO matching the hair dryer! I agree about using the diffuser as a head massager, lol. I may treat myself to a new hair dryer in the future, this dryer looked awesome.

Thank you for talking us through the latest Dyson hair-dryer. It is fascinating what they keep coming up with. In relation to the price, yes, it is expensive, no we do not necessarily need it. Mell has always made that clear. It is like Bose products - you are partly paying for the brand recognition, but a lot of it is to do with innovation. R&D costs a lot. You want multiple engineers working on concepts and designs all at once, producing prototypes, and quite a big portion of these won't work or won't see the light of day. But the ones that do change the landscape of their field of technology. Personally, I want a world like that, with constant innovation and betterment, rather than cheap rehashes of what already exists. Mell, I loved how your shirt and eyeliner matched the colourway of the Dyson! And your smile when you had your hair in the dome attachment was adorable.

I have the original Dyson and I will always rave about. This new edition looks cool and I don’t want to sound snarky but, if your scalp is overheating I’m pretty sure most people would know and wince from the pain. They would most likely stop and take a moment before returning to blow dry again. I mean I get the heat features and it’s automatic changes when it’s closer or away from the scalp (and by all means it’s a pretty cool feature, not knocking it) but probably not worth it unless you’re willing to shell out for it.

They better designed the new diffuser to work with regular supersonic or i will be mad😅

I have the original Dyson and if/when it needs replacing, I will still go for the original Dyson. I have had mine since 2021 and this one is healthy for your hair and doesn’t damage it.

Hi Mell, I've had my Dyson Supersonic since 2016. I use the lowest heat setting and fan speed, but i find it way too hot. Would the Dyson Nural not be so hot if i held the diffuser against my scalp.? x 4.00 am uk

I hope the updat the supersonics attachments too tho. Thosr additional features arent worth buying a new one for me but that diffuser is something i woupd like to try.

Have you ever tried an at-home hooded dryer? Like what they use at the salon? I know you have a stand to make your hair dryer hands-free, but specifically curious about the hooded dryers to see if they dry faster since doing your whole head at once. (Not the hooded/cap type, hoods you sit under.)

Can you review the Curlsmith and the Pattern blow dryers made for textured hair?

I can’t. I tried the original Supersonic and it broke down in less the 2 years. And I bought it from Dyson themselves. Customer service was trash and the dryer itself: the paint chipped off and started overheating Less than 9 months after I bought it. The Shark flex style is my new baby I also use the CurlSmith giant diffuser.

The shark one is the dryer/diffuser I want. All it needs is a larger diffuser.

Once this dryer can also do curling hair attachments and has red light then I’ll buy it. Then it’ll really be worth the money since it would do everything.

how do I keep my hair from shrinking as it dries?!

I would totally save up and get this if they offered a dual voltage option, so I can take it with me when I travel overseas or to other countries that are not the 120V that we have here in North America. Could you do a review on a travel-friendly diffuser that you think is good. Curlsmith makes one that is dual voltage and folds up.

I just got the air wrap diffuser at Christmas, which I love. This is so very cool, but I can’t justify switching up until my current Dyson dies.

The best most logical thing for me ab these dyson (and probably other “prof” dryers is that theyre not a big long huge elephant tusk that stores well NOWHERE! I want a basic $20 dryer lol thats the same shape as those!

They probably don’t want you to, but can you make a video showing the new diffuser attaching to the old dryer? They can’t expect people with long curly hair to buy a whole new dryer just for the larger attachment. They could have made a new attachment years ago, but were probably holding out to make more money on a new dryer.

Oh, Mell, I've been relying on your advice for years but this is just too much. My eyes are rolled back in my head so far I can see my brain. Maybe it's because I'm in the senior years of my life but in my opinion this just feels like Dyson looked for a nonexistent problem so they could come up with a profitable solution. $600 for a dryer? Are you kidding me? Please think of that group of your loyal followers who would love tips on how to keep their curls and bank accounts happy at the same time. I agree. This type of hair dryer seems like a great investment for a stylist who would get their money's worth out of it. But for personal use, it is too expensive.

I saw dryer stands on Amazon, some demo a regular hair dryer while others I've seen show what looks to be the Dyson. Price ranges from high $20s to mid and high $30s

I would love to get one. All the attachments and features are next level, but man... that's a lot of money in this economy.

Kind of wish they’d let you pick what attachments you want and adjust the price accordingly because the only one I would want is the straightener lol so maybe I could take 150 off of the other attachments I’m not gonna use😂

The only thing I like about Dyson is the size. I prefer to hoover diffuser and the dryer I have is too long to hold, although it dries fast and makes a lot less noise.

Yea …… this Dyson life is gonna be a no for me. Partially because it’s way out my budget and honestly the results I get with my current dryer and diffuser is chefs kiss for me. But this Aveda line I may have to try ! ❤
