sweet video. Thanks for showing this! and good points at the end -- if the snow were deep you'd feel differently but you're probably better off bootpacking hardpack/ice for the couple hundred vert. As alec said, put the adapters in the front of your binding and not clip the heel down yet. Then clip the heel bail onto your boot. When you pop the adapters all the way into your binding first, you leave no room for your hand to get in to clamp around the heel of your ski boot because the rear ski binding is blocking it. good point on shuffling feet rather than lifting up every step! leave most of the weight on the ground and only try to lift the top deck. Use the grip of your ski pole to knock up and down the elevators, that's how they were designed! super hard to use your basket or pole tip to flip elevators.

Nice Video. I built an adapter myself with the help of a 3d printer. It works really well.

Another really good tip is to just lay the adapters on top of the binding (not clicked in) to put your foot in the adapter, and then click down into your ski binding. 🙌🏼 Also, when flipping the heel lug to lock in place, it makes it much easier when your boot is flat (parallel to the ground) instead of tipping forwards!

Looked like some better snow in the trees to skiers left......Anyway, Im not a fan of adapters but anything that lets you get after it is a plus.

Other than exercise, is there another reason for going up the hill this way instead of taking a lift? Remember, I'm not a skier. Why are snowmobiles allowed on a ski slope? Judging by the forecast for Tuesday, you probably won't be doing any skiing.

In this video we were at a closed ski area that has been turned into a recreation area / snow mobile trail. It's just another way of getting out into nature and having fun like snow shooing or cross country skiing.

Skins or “Touring” allows you to get to places that aren’t normally accessible via ski lift, I’ve been to many resorts that allow you to hike way farther up then the tallest chair will take you and still be “in-bounds” of the resort and lots of these hikes are tremendously easier when on skins rather then walking in the deep snow with ski boots. Snow mobiles also aren’t allowed at ski resorts unless it’s a resort vehicle and the most popular mountains for people to skin up are national forest land so no lifts or Motor vehicles allowed
