Just picked up the Govee kit for my TV with the camera and I am quite impressed. Thank you for this video!

Govee just released a dual sensor camera system that has far better accuracy, twice the amount of LEDs, and twice as fast response compared to the original T1. It’s called the T2 and is replacing the T1 in your video.

​@@sakibc1787 yeah I think the fact it doesn't work with everything is one of the worst cons of any responsive led back lighting. Govee is definitely the way, and like they mention in this video, the colours might not match 100% but they're very close and easier on the eyes

@@ArkangelBAYEM Shame they put the Govee light on the monitor wrong which is why there's that ugly gap in lighting at the top of the monitor.

As someone who owns a govee backlight immersion kit, you can’t go wrong! I even have an older model than the T1 and I love it to this day! Highly recommend to all. You can play with the saturation to get more accurate colors. There are also a lot of effects you can do and Govee has many products you can sync to have an amazing immersion experience. For example, you can buy the neon rope and place it under an entertainment stand to sync up to whatever the camera is pointing at. Truly innovative company

if I buy the T2 envisual strip lights (to stick behind TV) and also some RGBIC light bars - can I sync the light bars to the envisual strip to reflect the same visuals?

@@Ario2601 I believe so. It’s going to be a little bit different now. I believe you can do it through dreamview in the app after you set the T2 as the command center or something like that. I need to research this as well as I currently only have the immersion kit

I also have it and I like it a lot but when we talk about exact colors (like yellow for example) it doesn't work, that's why Phillips Hue is a better product and obviously more expensive. The quality of the color as such is nothing similar to the phillip but good for price issues I also preferred to go for the govee.

Not being able to use options with hdmi sync boxes with apps and any smart features is a deal breaker. Plus having any sort of additional hdmi lag for gaming is no bueno. I just hope they can keep improving camera options at Govee. I have their option and the lack of precision annoys me. I just end up leaving it on a specific color 90% of the time.

Thanks for posting this. Hue does an amazing, but the drawbacks of the system don't match up to the cost. Govee is just good enough and priced sooooooo much lower, that is going to end up being the better choice for a lot more people. Great comparison. Thanks again.

underrated feature of the hue sync box is the music mode: the sync box takes audio data and uses that to create pulsing lights that match the music perfectly!

I've been using the Hue from Philips and I can tell there's no problem at all with streaming services, and it still works flawlessly. I got it 3 years ago and there's no trouble with that since the day I bought it.

They were show casing the T2 but demonstrated the T1. Of course direct HDMI will produce quicker responses and sometimes better colour accuracy. But for the price the Govee does a great job.

Will Phillips work with Apple TV with streaming apps

After the headaches my friend had with using his Govee kit with his Xbox Series X, and PS5 because Phillips doesn't support HDMI 2.1 I decided to go with the Govee Kit, and honestly I'm very happy with it. With a few minor adjustments to the software I've got some very accurate color matching. Add in the fact that you can add other Govee lights in your room and the immersion you can get with the Govee kit can be even better. There are probably some better DIY kits out there if someone wanted to get real nitpicky, but for a solution that's pretty much plug and play I'll stick with the Govee kit for my screens.

What size tv/monitor do you use for gaming and does it feel distracting to you at all? I've had the basic rainbow LED strips before and really enjoyed them. But the colors dont react to what's on screen obviously

@@snarp408 I use a 65” TV and I don’t find it at all distracting. If anything I find it’s more immersive because the light bleed from the edge of the screen to the wall is uniform.

The Hue Sync Box setup is super overpriced, but for services like Netflix, Prime, etc. You can get around that limitation by using a Chromecast, which is what I do. I've used a Sync Box setup for 2 years and it's been amazing so far, touch wood.

"Overpriced" is the best way to say it. I'm not going to lie, the effects are absolutely beautiful and - in my mind - are worth a good amount of money. But $560? That's the price of a mid-to-high tier GPU.

A couple of things I don't like about the HUE system is that for that much money, it should allow for consoles to pass through the max 120hz if the tv supports it but it doesn't because of the old HDMI tech. Also, if you mount the TV, there are no light strips for the bottom, and again, for THAT MUCH MONEY there should be. I was curious about it for a while but not being able to use my tv's streaming app is a serious handicap. Thanks for the video

Great video! Now with Govee Envisual T2 it is a no brainer!

From my experience the Phillips hue sync box works just fine with Netflix and Disney plus unless something was implemented recently that I am unaware (haven't used it in a while unfortunately). I'm hoping Phillips will be releasing an updated version of the sync box that works with HDMI 2.1. Their latest Ambilight TV does color sync and actually runs HDMI 2.1 so "They Have the Technology" I think it's just a matter of time. Perhaps a way to get past the 2.1 issue is to buy a 4k 144hz splitter (if it even exists I don't know) and run 1 single from the splitter to the TV and the other signal into the sync box... granted more $$$. All this being said I'm glad Govee has sort of taken charge of the RGB world and them coming out with new products all the time really shows their passion.

@user-lu5eb8cc3k you can't use the Netflix and Disney plus in your smart TV. You need an external streaming device like An invidia shield/appletv/or roku.

Just installed the Hue app for Samsung Tvs. Works great. Worth taking a look at. Pricey but didn't have to buy a sync box or any other cables.

The price difference for the Phillips Hue combined with the fact that the Sync Box isn't compatible with HDMI 2.1 make it feel as if you are overpaying for technology that is already out of date. The Govee seems like a better more affordable option, but their newest camera lighting system is only compatible with some smaller computer monitors. I'd like a version of that system with the rope lights, larger light bars and newer camera for my TV. Why Govee hasn't done that is beyond me.

Phillips Hue Sync works perfectly for me. Passes through 120hz/VRR when I game from my PS5 to my QD-OLED TV, with no lag. Also, with the recent updates, it now works with Dolby Vision. Make sure you use a 48Gbps HDMI cable. And please don't use the built-in apps on your TV. You get a better-quality picture with a separate steaming device like an Nvidia Shield Pro anyway.

I have Phillips hue. I love it . I run all my content through a fire stick. So I don't have any issues with compatibly. The only downside is the price. I have a 77 inch TV. It came up to about $600 for everything I needed. But I bought it at Best Buy so they installed it for free since I have total tech. I love the immersion that it provides watching movies or playing ps5. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Govee t2 looks like a decent runner up for a fraction of the price. But if money isn't a issue I'd pick Phillips hands down! Plus their is a lot of other lights that you can incorporate into it. For even more immersion.

Please do a comparison between nanoleafs triangles and Govee triangles

Price to performance and seeing the Govee in action at my relative's house got me sold.

Isn't the camera also a better deal since a lot of the HDMI plugins also add delay to the screen ? That won't be much good during gaming for instance.

Does the govee led work on curved monitors?

While the comparison established in this video is generally accurate, I felt necessary to comment on one statement. Netflix and Disney+ work absolutely fine with the HDMI Sync Box. I watched the latest season of Cobra Kai this morning without any issue and recently watched content from Disney+ as well. Some TVs might need to activate the "enhanced Dolby Vision compatibility" setting on the Sync Box and you have to make sure you plugged your source into HDMI output 2 or 4, but otherwise, it is absolutely compatible with theses services, granted, if you have them on a device that passes through the box, like a PS5 or Roku/FireTV/Apple TV.

I have phillips hue en my brother has govee at hes house govee is good for the price... But phillips hue is on an other level also "for me" it makes sense to go for hue becous i have about 50 hue lamps in my house, and on a last note.. i have a samsung q95b tv wich is arguabley the best tv to date with a full sonos arc surround system , so in my opinion its stupid to go for a camera and lagging and inaccurate colours. No im not rich.. some people like nice cars i like lights and my entertainment setup

Given that people that like LEDs are gamers, I don't think having a camera on top of the TV will be a problem. I use to have the ps4 camera and the T3 lite has taken its spot

govee is amazing for the price... also acts as bias lighting to improve blacks for lcd tvs (all behind tv leds kinda do that though, but this has the added colour change... static chan be distracting.. .. and for well under $100) When I first looked into these systems... they were really expensive and nowhere near as immersively accurate

Hue snoozing on HDMI 2.1 with the sync box so until it has that capability it's Govee all the way. For the price Govee still killing the game.

My govee dreamview kit is perfectly synced with multiple colors at all times I think k you need to tweak yours a little. Also you do not need the camera on the TV I have mine completely detached from the TV and hidden where you would never know where they are unless you did some serious looking... there is a video where you can look up how to hid the camera on KZread...

I have the 2016 65 inch Samsung Curve TV. Philip's Hue doesn't sync because its to old BUT I routed it through my PS5 and i at Ieast get games and whatever media app I have installed via ps5 such as Netflix the Philip's Hue sync box will work.

No HDCP issues with streaming and Hue for me 🤷‍♂️ maybe a firmware thing?

I use Apple 4k and netflik and hue works with all the apps.

Govee seems to flicker constantly which seems very distracting

I will stick with my hue setup because the govee one with the camera on top of the tv would look distracting ugly and would just drive me crazy plus the hue is pretty much plug-in and play where govee you have to stick thing all over your screen just to calibrate to get the best out of it

Keep in mind: The Phillips Hue Box doesn’t support 120 hz or hdmi 2.1.

This is the deal breaker for me. Why spend money getting a nice 120hz OLED tv if you can’t run it to its full capability.

I would go with Govee because cheaper and easier but I’m a Philip hue fanboy. That Hue Sync Box is seriously outdated without the 120hz and HDMI 2.1 lol

I wish I could have seen it compare it against a movie.

Bruh, imagine buying a backlight for almost 600$ just to find out it doesn't support many apps, especially movie streaming platforms, I'll be so pissed. I'm going with Govee besides there are a lot of DIY videos on how to hide the camera while still getting good results.

I wonder why TVs don't already put this feature built into them.

Philips has been manufacturing flat panel televisions with built in back lighting technology, for several years. They are called Philips ambilight TV’s.

Problem with the Philips Hue does not support 120hz

I use hue sync on my tv setup for movies basicly. Since it doesnt support hdmi 2.1 its useless for my game setup. I use govee t1 on my game setup and its very satisfying. Maybe in the future I sell my hue sync setup and go with govee t2. If philips keeps this price range, they will loose by the time.

The camera legit seems better. Processing boxes can add lag, pretty bad.

For $90.00 I’m leaning go Govee.

I think smart TV’s are not as smart as we would like them to be. Processing the pixels can be easily achieved using an app built into the smart TV’s and then that information can be pushed to led controllers using the TV’s Bluetooth connectivity. USB ports on the smart TV’s should be able to provide power to the strips without the need for additional wires and power adapters.

The camera should connect to the arm/brack by a micro USB socket. So you could ditch the arm, and simply place the camera on the surface pointing up infront of your TV. Much tidier!

They're called HDMI Sync Boxes and there are many iterations available now. All have the same problem: Good colour matching and response time, yes, but limited to only one input which strips CEC and some HDR codecs your $$$ TV came with, not many do 120hz, and doesn't work with the TVs own Smart TV apps. Govee's camera sync lighting system has sidestepped this limitation entirely and still has decent response time.

All the kits in this video are wayyyy to close to the wall and im guessing its wall mounnted tv ? None of these kits look great that close to the wall . I have the hue kit and it is by far the best but extremley exspensive for what it is . I only got the hue stuff because i use my pc for everything so didnt have to fork out the extra £200 plus for the sync box .
