Testing Classic ATVs - 1995 Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4
Although I've had a Timberwolf in the past, it was a 2x4. Now it's time to test the Timberwolf 4x4! I was super excited to get this machine running and tested since it is the smallest 4x4 ATV ever made. Now the reasoning behind my excitement: Small 4x4 ATVs seem to get everywhere, in everywhere and out of everywhere. I am not a power hungry individual, so when it comes down to it, I want to get in the woods, maneuver to the best of my ability and not have an enormous weight under myself. Also, being 150lbs, it was the right size for me to whip around without the fear of being injured. Take a look at the video, comment on what you think or like about the Timberwolf 4x4. As always, if there are any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

I purchased my Timberwolf 4x4 about 15 years ago and I' Love it it's a keeper yours looks in good condition like mine
Grabbed a 99 timberwolf 4x4 for 100 bucks off a friend it was sitting for 4 years the rear diff was trashed bought a parts one for 300 that had the top end tore off but came with brand new in the box, a valve train assembly complete with cam etc., a new cylinder head and piston, new throttle cable, and new air filter, spark plug, and oil filter. Swapped the rear end swing arm back onto the running one (rear end looked brand new inside, had new yokes, u joint, bearings etc.) So now I have every part I could ever possibly need. Swapped the racks and bumpers as well as some other things. Still gotta fix the front brakes but came with brand new back brakes on it. Things a beast on the trails for a little 250 and to boot altogether it cost me a 400 bucks and I got a parts quad and new top end! I'd easily expect to pay over a grand for one mint and I got all these parts on top of it. I'm keeping it but could turn around and get at least 3 times my money back.

Its not worth what you have in it
I just scored one of these for 200 bucks, In great shape also a 4x4. Has some electrical issues (not running) I suspect it also a bad stator. But for the price, I don't care if needs a new coil and wiring harness. Nice little review you did on this rig !!
i got one just like this but mines a 96, when its idle it runs fun but everytime i take off it dies, it has very low oil, im thinking this yamaha has a low oil shutoff, does it have a low oil shutoff?
Can you tell me where the 3 hoses that's connected to the ggrommet are connected to
I'm fixing one of these up as well.

how does the 4wd compare to the red big bear you have?
@WeTryMotorsports

Mostly the same 4x4 system. It's pretty much 3wd. It's not as good as dedicated with diff lock but it gets the job done. I like this ATV better for tooling around. I like the big bear better pulling trailers through the woods
Great video. I need a quad with differential lock to pull a wagon full of cut logs. Any recommendations?

diff lock you're looking at newer ATVs. the 250 and 300 Suzuki king quads from the 80s and 90s had diff lock but they are way too light in the front to trailer logs. unless you counter weight that, it's a viable choice. I use my trx300 to trailer logs though. no diff lock but it does the job

@@WeTryMotorsports Would a 5 speed semiautomatic have more towing power than an automatic with just high/low range?
@WeTryMotorsports

@@Billster1955 depends on the CC and weight of the bike. I enjoy semi-auto because of the high/low but that's my preference
Is it faster than the 2x4 or abt the same
There’s one of these for sale not so far away from and the guy reckons its a 350cc... he’s not sure what year it is either ... does anyone know if they made them in a 350?

Not the timberwolf. The wolverine and the Big Bear are 350cc
Could you leave the link for the plow

Literally any 42-54 inch plow will work, just as long as you fab up a mount and a winch ;)

I have so many plans for videos with ATVs, watercraft and more but I just don't have the time. I can show a similar setup on my latest video regarding battery replacement. basically you need to plow Mount with u bolts and a winch
Is it full time 4wd?

Shoooo boi. Both are cable driven, both are drum brakes. The rears always break (no pun intended) but the fronts are normally good. Are they seized or squeeze all the way in but don't stop?
@ww2nut9
3 жыл бұрын
They squeeze, that's the weird part. I've tried tighten the back brakes,still nothing
@WeTryMotorsports
3 жыл бұрын
@@ww2nut9 in the front - the brakes squeeze in at the drum and you can see the mechanism moving at both sides that means you most likely need new pads. Super easy to replace. The rear has only one drum, a bit harder to replace but still not too hard. Same thing applies, if it is all the way tight and you squeeze, it moves and nothing happens you must likely need brake pads. They're super cheap for both front and rears. Talking like 16 dollars for the front and 12 for the rear. But can't say for sure without seeing it
Does it steer hard with being 4wd?
@WeTryMotorsports
2 жыл бұрын
no, since these have a front differential only one tire truly rotates at a time making it easy to turn
Hi ....excuse my ignorance but does this 4x4 have a low and high range, and can one engage 2x4 or 4x4?
@Bubbakahuna
4 жыл бұрын
I have one of these. It's a full-time 4x4 without high or low range. It does have a 5-speed geared transmission like a motorcycle. It's not a CVT belt drive like most ATVs. I use mine to plow snow in Wisconsin, wet heavy stuff up to a foot deep, pushes it just fine and my driveway is STEEP. Don't expect speeds much more than the low 40s, it's no racer but it's a tank.
Would you sell it
Anyone selling one 🥵
