As someone who seen that one video from Novell, you're actually supposed to pronounce "SUSE" as "souza". Not my word, it's theirs. In the Linux world there's no way to properly pronounce names. My friends actually get caught off-guard when I say GNOME "incorrectly".

Well, the name SuSE is a German acronym (System- und Software-Entwicklung). The e at the end isn't muted, just like in Porsche for example (that many Americans get wrong too)

Most of the older Linux distributions will only detect IDE drives and will require additional drivers to be able to detect SATA drives. That's probably why they don't detect your HDD. I think Windows also had this, up to XP. The unmodified install disks for XP would not detect SATA drives by default, you needed to load a driver during the installation in order to be able to use them. Although some unofficial distributions would include these by default. Maybe SP3 did include them as well, I don't remember. That's also what the Mandriva disk was asking you to load, although by 2007 standards it should have been able to detect it automatically. Also, MP3 is an (open) proprietary format, so some distributions at the time required third party codecs to be able to play MP3 files due to license issues.

Awesome video, i was gonna ask how ohio was during the stream, but i forgot. and first, too. Don't worry, i don't know linux, too. Has to be the only time i've seen you angry. Every time here were extra idsks, the "another one" meme played in my head. watched after 7 minutes after publish. Really good, and yes, i heard all the boot chimes.

I find it funny you booted up SUSE then you ask what is a YAST.... YaST (Yet Another Setup Tool) is a Linux operating system configuration and setup tool . It was originally written by SuSE and released in May 1996, YaST is featured in the openSUSE Linux
