I love this car. I bought it back in January in the fluid metal color. The launch from a stop does suck, you can turn the traction control off which improves it a little, but it's still not the greatest. Rolling is much better. I have really bad arthritis so manual is no longer an option for me, but the DCT is fast and it can be pretty fun with thr paddle shifters. I constantly get 35mpg just casually driving. The lane keep assist is super impressive, great if you have to grab something out of that glove box or whatever.. don't need to knee drive. I enjoy this car immensely even with its draw back on the launching from a stop, but that's my only real gripe about the car. The fluid metal color is the way to go and I blacked out my Hyundai logos and Elantra lettering. She's beautiful.

I agree with you 100% Joshua, I have the exact same car and agree with your statements. I am a HUGE Honda fan, can could not get a Civic of any kind it seemed. My only other grip is, for me, I seem to have to have the steering wheel sat so high to not obstruct view of the gauges. I paid sticker for mine and could not get an SI anywhere close to that price. And as far as MPG, I can get 40+ on highway at 65mph, and have averaged 36mpg over the first 1850 miles. I was initially worried about fuel usage.

If you don’t mind me asking, does this car drive relatively smooth? I’m looking for a sport compact that can fit me the wife and two teenagers but I don’t want to feel every bump in the road. I was looking for Eurosport firm and smooth ride quality. Is this it, and can the family fit?

I can't wait for you to get your hands on the Corolla GR.
Saw my first Elantra N 2 days ago The best looking Elantra to date since the ones before it were shaped almost like eggs 🥚
I'm glad you drove the DCT as most reviewers got the manual to be honest. It sucks if you're someone whom manual isn't an option (bad arthritis) who wants a fun affordable car. I test drove a '24 and I gotta say it feels a lot quicker than 7 to me.. Felt very close to my old 228 gran coupe which was high 5-low 6. I was rather impressed with it overall very nice little car for the money A new 24 one is *probably* what I'm going for since there's not much else at this price point (GLI is 5k more, I don't want a base GTI, Si is manual only, Integra is CVT.. Full Elantra N is nice but I can't even find one I could sit in to see if I can do it with my joints)
I do not know whether the Hyundai is better than the Civic ? but if it comes to the exterior and interior design, I like the Elantra more.
Is this a good alternative to a Sonata?
It's definitely better than that new MK8 GTI, especially interior-wise. Civic SI/Integra is also better than GTI, and even the GLI Jetta beats the GTI. I love hatchbacks but the unergonomical interior of the GTI is a dealbreaker for me.

Good video. I have the 2021 Hyundai Elantra N-Line with the manual transmission. To launch the Elantra N-Line, you will need to turn off traction control and get your RPM to about 2200-2800 before launch... you should be able to get the 0-60 under 7 secs. In regards to price, the Elantra N-Line is about $10k USD cheaper than the Elantra N. For under $25k, the Elantra N-Line has the best value compared to its competition. If you have the extra $10k, the Elantra N is a lot of car for the money. Otherwise, folks on a budget for a daily, the Elantra N-Line is the car.... IMHO. Cheers!

@@wbwayne8887 Agree about the value. However, I chose the Elantra N-Line because of the some features that is missing; heated seats are not available on the Kia Forte GT. @@wbwayne8887 All good. The Elantra N-Line is my first Hyundai. Also, I tend to look at the finer details about a car that normal folks don't pay attention to. Nothing wrong with that but it says a lot about me.... I'm very particular when it comes to my cars. LOL! Again, Forte GT is a great car and also comes with the 10yr/100k warranty. You are right about the looks... I also think the Elantra N-Line is very attractive.
Btw, 6k difference between this and the Civic Si in Canada so no contest.10K difference from the DCT N Line and the Manual N here too... 12k between DCT N Line and DCT N... for a daily commuter, not sure if it's worth and the fuel hit as well. The Elantra N Line is an insane value here in Canada for 30k. Also, turn off traction control and this car easily hits 0-60MPH in less than 7 seconds. This thing smokes the Si in every pedestrian "race" aspect and even on a strip.
Some car companies are threatening dealers of no longer selling them cars if they are caught selling for over MSRP! I'm not sure if Hyundai is one of the companies but might be worth finding out if a dealer is asking over MSRP. You could simply write or call Hyundai and ask about it. This came about due to so much price gouging going on due to car supply issues.

Honestly I get that dealers wanna make money but the markups just make it stupid to buy the car first hand. Honestly kinda sucks for the car industry as well. I get maybe a 4,000 dollar markup on a 20,000 dollar car but to double to price on some cars just isn't a good tactic if you wanna last in the long run its more self-destructive when it comes to the market.

@KirkKreifels

7 speed
tbh if I have to have an automatic, I'd much rather see these cars coming with something akin to the ZF torque converter 8-Speed that BMW loves to use. It's plenty fast and precise even in manual mode, it's way smoother (esp at low speeds) and more reliable than any DCT, and in cars that aren't like M3-level hardcore you're not really going to notice any hypothetical performance benefit going with a "real" DCT. Hyundai and VW both keep insisting on sticking these finicky, complicated, maintenance-heavy, occasionally failure-prone DCTs in all of their hot hatches and budget enthusiast cars because they have to justify/recoup their big investments in the tech and in manufacturing facilities, but it's a bad deal for the consumer IMO. It drives up the price on cars that should be inexpensive, it forces the companies to cut corners in other areas, and it forces the owner to deal with all of these expenses and headaches over the lifetime of the vehicle, especially as it ages and racks up miles.

Mine still has 1800 miles and I haven’t fully opened it up. At times, I regret getting the DCT. I wanted the manual, but these aren’t the easiest to get as it were. Are you in sport mode with the traction control off? The DCT at times can’t make its mind up. I am undecided if I like it or not. Thus far, it’s really the biggest bitch I have about the car. It does seem it is getting smoother. If you feather the gas pedal turning into traffic it bogs and shifts way too damn early! I have learned you have to press a little harder to help some with the quick shift too early.

@@NBABY-J well I have had smooth sports cars. I still say the DCT is confused some of the time. I try smart mode and I can’t much difference from normal. I don’t hate the trans… but I would have been more happy with a manual and saved some money. I just can’t see mid 6 0-60. On paper it should easily. That DCT should be able to take a beating too!! That is what hurts performance. I had a Rspec Veloster in 2019. Had to have dealer go 3 states away. It of course was only offered in manual. Fun and quick, but the seats were dismal!! I hated it overall. Kept probably 7 months and dumped. I was in it 2 hrs commuting daily, 4 days a week. The Elantra N line way better.. I just wished it ran like my rspec.

@@NBABY-J that is indeed where it shines!! From a roll and mid range it gets it!! I’m old school on the quarter mile.
I am an Elantra sport dct owner, which is pretty much the same thing as the n line. The DCT is definitely a downside to this vehicle. it seems to be a sporty trans, but it's not. The shifting logic is quite weird and its shifting feel is just not sporty enough. Plus its reliability issues. I had the transmission replaced within the warranty, which is lucky but still a hassle secondly, this car needs an LSD, the wheel just spins when you try to make a quicker turn. Wheel hop can be solved with an aftermarket engine mount. Other than the issues above. This car is a great little sporty car. But the real solution is actually the Elantra N. That 5k difference is totally worth it!
