    You have no idea how helpful these videos are!! I had exactly 1 month to prepare so that I can get into Albany. I watched a playlist with all your videos with helpful tips. My score: Verbal Reasoning 162 Quantitative Reasoning 165 Analytical Writing 5 out 6 I got accepted to the Ph.D. program at the University at Albany. I took this test at Pearl Street in Manhattan with construction noise in the background and a faulty computer, which I could not change. I probably would have scored higher. Thank you, you are awesome!!!!

    one thing super minor... when "brook" is used as a verb, is it usually only in a negative sentence. So more like: I will NOT brook this approach so l will look for an alternative one. Thank you Greg! I've benefit so much from you classes and really enjoy them

    Love these sessions, thanks Greg! Could you please explain the difference between overcame and surpassed. Also the similarity between plethora and host.

  • @namanmehta3096

    @namanmehta3096

    I am not an expert!! overcame could mean overcame a challenge, problem or situation(feelings). You could also overcome an opponent as in defeat ones' opponent(says Google). Surpassed could be going beyond the limits, or going beyond previously set limits. You can overcome a challenge, you cannot surpass a challenge. you can surpass targets/milestones, you cannot overcome targets. Plethora and host don't sound similar to me. Plethora is excess, plenty, abundance. Host could be one who addresses the audience, host could be animal/plant where parasite lives (you can also host a website)

    well, there's another meaning of host which is large number of people/things, probably something close to gathering or assembly. Plethora and host seem to have a common meaning i.e. large amount of something.

    29/30. The only word in which I made mistake was haphazard(25). Isn't hit-or-miss a direct synonym of haphazard? Even though in this sentence unsystematic is more felicitous.

    Sir .I want to ask you about the latest difficulty level of the quant section? from a gre study group on Facebook I got the news that recently ETS raised the difficulty level of the quant section, please enlighten us on this. Regards

  • @gregmat8036

    Even if the difficulty level was raised, that should not dramatically alter your score. The way these tests work is they rank people from low to high. So if the quantitative section is more difficult, that means it is more difficult for everyone. In the end, your ranking should be about the same.

    audacious also means impertinent which is rude so isn't it as good an answer as coarse for boorish?

  • @applepeel1662

    @applepeel1662

    Жыл бұрын

    Audacious is not a direct synonym of boorish. Boorish means churlish or using insults while talking to someone, it's more specific than rude. Also audacious doesn't just mean rude it also means something thats extremely bold. Important to note that the meanings of a lot of words bleed into eachother, but you've to be more precise with your definition. Rude is a blanket expression
