The 5 seat seems to make the most sense for my needs since I occasionally have one extra adult passenger (very rarely, but it happens), but I've been worried that it's just a child "jump seat" and not a real seat. The Model Y definitely looks like that middle seat is unusable. But the seat in the Model X appears large enough. Curious about experiences with it.

A nice factor of the 6 seaters is that the middle row are captain chairs. The 6 seater is the most option in my opinion if you don't need 7 seats.

This was the video I was looking for!!! No one really goes in depth about the seats as much as you did, THANK YOU!!!!

I like the 5 seater because you can fold the seats down for a mattress but the 6 seater is probably the most ideal.

Thanks for making a video that was short and straight to the point. Some other KZreadrs would make a 10 or 30 minute video out of something so simple. Like yo, we just want to know the pros and cons of seat configurations. Not an entire history about your family and all the cars you've ever owned.

Love our 6-seat configuration fir the extra legroom in the 3rd row

Same here! Pricey but awesome.

I had the 6 seater for the last 5 years and will switch to the 5 seater now. Biggest advantage is the complete fold of the area behind the front seats, while it has been rare that we needed all the 6 seats

I would go for the 6 seat configuration, that one looks perfect for me!!

One comment is that the 7 seater 3rd row does not have less leg room than the 6 seater 3rd row! They are the same however people say they can stick their legs down the center in the 6 seater.

6 seater definitely sounds the best with balance for storage and people. Thanks for the video mate!

Just got the 7 seater. I wish I could have gotten the 6, but the 7 is just more practical and I use 7 seats just often enough to make it worth it

@@carljohnson763 it depends on how tall they are. I’m 6 foot, and I can sit in the third row for short trips, but I wouldn’t want to be back there for a long time. However, those a bit shorter than me have no problem with it.

Does the 7-seater have a folding Arm rest in the middle row?

I prefer 5 seater because full folding option and lesser leg room on 7 seater. Thank you for your recommendation.

Great video. It would have also helped if you would have mentioned about 6-seat configuration with and without the center console. I have heard some folks complaining about missing an armrest of configuration without the center console. That said, center console will provide arm support for passengers, but would remove the convenience of getting in/out. Also, it might reduce legroom for 3rd row passengers. I have not experienced 6 seater with console, but I guess some advice/experience would help your viewers.

Tesla discontinued the 6-seat with center console years ago, probably due to low demand. They do exist, but they're rare to find. Even without the center console included, there are third-party console options for the 6-seater, and even home ideas like luggage that can take up that extra space to rest your arms on. If it seems that more people are wondering about this, a video shall indeed come!

Waiting for my x and heard the 6 seater configurations are getting delivered sooner, but sounds like it's not for me due to not folding flat and unnecessary cost. Thanks!

Waiting to take delivery of my 6 seat configuration. Another con I've heard is the lack of armrest for the middle row without the console. Looking at aftermarket solutions for that now.

We ordered the 6 seater then switched to the 7 seater. As you may recall, we have 3 standard poodles, the biggest one weighs 80 pounds! It’s a lot less work to fold all the seats down and attach their harness to the seat back tethers. (This is Rufus!)

We are trying to decide if this car would work for us. We have two Great Pyrenees, 105 & 110 pounds. Do you think there's any chance they would fit in the back with middle seats up? We would have to put a car seat in as well!

Hi Rufus, we also have a dog and had a question for you. Right now I have a 5 seater on order, though going to switch to 7 to have more options. We use a harness attached to our child seat clip in my x5. Is the latch when the seats folded what you are talking about? Looks like there is a slit on the back of middle row when folded.

Still getting the 6 seater

Nice video! Is there enough legroom in the third row though?

As of late Ive changed my mind from a MS to a MX for a few reasons. One being we have a baby on the way and the flashy doors make it much easier to load and unload humans 😂 I’m not sure which configuration I would get though. I was looking at used MX’s and saw some with the center console, which is nice. But getting the 7 seat option sounds good too because of the cheaper up charge, and the ability to fold flat. You can basically fold the third row down and have a 5 seater until you need the extra seats. Does that sound feasible to you? Not sure if there is anything that would inhibit that from happening. Thanks for the video.

Ordered my 6 seater

Got the Model Y, will get the X for large room or the CyberTruck. I like the 7 seat with option of folding 2nd & 3rd rows flat for cargo & sleeping (if needed). If you are tall like you advertised then don’t go sit back in 3rd row, put smaller persons there, if all of you are not same height, instead..

I'm on the fence about 5 or 6 seat. I think I am going to go 6 seat for the resale value, and besides what space might be lacking in the back can be made up with the frunk storage. I'm sure it will be fine. I really don't need more than the 5 seat, but thinking ahead to resale value, I do think 6 seat is the way to go for us. We only have one child at home and the occasional grandchild that comes to visit.

All I want is for the 6 seater captains chairs to fold flat. Put a sliding tray on the middle sides to make it flat, and go camping in the back.

Great video Brandon. I thought I knew knew everything about the interior of model X, and then you show us a central console between the second row seats, at 3:25. Never seen one before! Is it something you can order from Tesla, or is it a third party option?

Thank you David! I did sneak peek that! Tesla discontinued it a couple years ago, but they used to make a 6-Seat configuration with a center console. There are third-party options out there very similar these days.

I like the 6 seater however, there doesn't seem to be inside arm rests for the middle seats.

Great video, and thank you for reading my mind. Tesla can certainly do better to explain the differences. In the 6 seats option, given the second row is electric and looks like the seats in the front row, how far do the recline/slide backward?

Thank you! They don't recline nearly as much in the middle row, maybe 2-3 inches tilt, but certainly enough to get more comfortable.

I'm a single driver with 2 dogs, and can not decide for 6 or 7 seater. My 2 dogs are ridgebacks so cute giants. I hope that the crate will fit in the boot with the 3rd row down. 6 seat option is cool as the dogs can see forward and on the other hand 7 seat is cool if you have friends to take around. Also I like 7 seat for moving the staff or camping it is great idea. So Im Confused haha

Go the 7 seats! It's less expensive, and more options for flexibility. AND, as for dogs, you can put all the seats down and fit a bit more in there.

6 seats definitely, more practical to get in and out from the back seats you can walk between the 2 seats in the middle

I want a 6 seater cause we are all tall in my family but then I also want the seats to fold completely cause I go camping a lot!

Best explainer! Wish the six-seat folded all the way down, and then it would be the obvious choice.

I entirely agree. Wouldn't surprise me if Tesla somehow implements that in the future.

I've booked a 7 seater but still not sure if I should keep it or change to 6 seater ..

We ordered model X with 5 seats configuration but after watching your video, may be switched to 7 seats... for camping & just in case we would have 6~7 people to ride. Do you think normal adult is not possible to ride on the last seat for a long period of time? I mean, is it functionally seats for kids only? Is it possible to use mattress in the car with 6 seats configuration? even if it wouldn't fold flat?

Thank you for watching!! Did you use a referral code for your order? If you’re taller than 5’8”, the back row might be a little uncomfortable for longer trips, but it’s actually surprisingly roomy back there. Especially in the 7-seats, being able to adjust the leg room with the middle bench seats sliding forwards, you can make sure everyone is happy. And nope, can’t fit a mattress in with the 6-seats sadly.

Then i will switch to 7 seats configuration and now i am in the middle of watching your Interior color selection vid. we selected black...well, actually my wife, but my favorite among 3 color combinations is white. My wife think black is easy to maintain and not visible when get dirty...and wear and tear of its skin. Any suggestion to persuade her to let me switch color to white? ^^ I did not...but i don't know whether i could use your code after already done my order. i will ask them when Tesla contact me later this week (i guess) for further process.

Six seater is good enough for me I thought about getting a seven seater but I don’t know I’m still thinking about that

I went to the 7 seat because I need to bench seat for my pets in the second row. Third row just in case I need more space.

Good question! The answer is nope. Tesla doesn’t make their seats removable. You can fold the unused seats down if you’d prefer.

I am even more confused!! I was going to buy the 5 seater but, now I;m thinking maybe the 7 seater. I have Irish Wolfhounds and they need space. Which work s with a bench seat

I go for the 7 seater because it gets the most out of the car. Max pax and max cargo, whenever you need it. For daily use, you can fold the third row and is a five seater. In case you need it, you can go camping or you can take 7 people. Kids more aft. 7 seaters make more sense.

I think I want the 6 seat w/o the console so the kids can get in back w/o moving the second row.

Nope, it’s a 1/2 split in the middle row. Two of the seats are attached and fold together. You can definitely fold down the single end seat for people getting into the back row though

Does the middle row in the 7 seater pushed all the way back have the same leg room as the 5 seater? Or is it a little less because of the 3rd row?

It does by default, but you can change it! The middle row is adjustable in the 7-seats. There’s an extra side lever you can pull to slide it forwards or backwards to adjust for extra leg room. The 3rd row doesn’t take away from that.

BRandon- I’m tall 6’8., my son is 6’0- we really don’t need a 3rd row- but my question is what is the best configuration for the most possible 2nd row space for a young adult tall passenger. Are the middle row bucket seats more comfortable than the bench in the 5 seater? I’ve put in an order for a 22’ 6 seater LR. - considering changing to a 5 seater.. Thank you Brandon!! 😀

Even though I have a 7 seater, I would prefer 6. It looks really good. I don’t get why anyone would choose a 5 seater over a 7. It’s basically a 7 seater but with no 3rd row seats

Be nice if they got rid of the frunk and pushed the front seats forward like a van so there was more room in the back. Would look ugly but be way more usable. Also get rid of the falcon doors so you can have a roof rack

Correct! Both the 5-seater and 7-seater will fold flat.

They removed that option but you could maybe find it on the used market, the new refresh model x has cup holders that pop out when you push on the piece in the middle row, back row has cupholders in it that are just there in the seat with chargers, all rows have at least 2 type c plugs.

When personally sitting in a 6 seat vs 7 seat I found the 6 seat rear seats basically unusable. Maybe the new Model X since it has thinner seats would have a better 6 seat configuration

Nope, but I have seen customers purchase the 6-Seats configuration and fold the 3rd row flat, so that only 4 seats are up, with extra rear storage.

if im saying 100K+ for a Model X i would def want power seats, like wtf why would they charge you THIS MUCH and not give you power seats for second row.

Can we not just add the 7 seats later on with a 3rd party vendor when having the 5 seats

The Model X has the three seat options in the title when you’re buying a new one, the Model Y only has 5 or 7 seats. What other questions do you have?

I want a Plaid Model X but 5 seater...

You can only get the Plaid in 6 seat configuration. Not sure why but if you are unsure get the Plaid and it makes the seat decision for you.. Also if you can afford a Model X plaid you can afford a hotel so camping is not a benefit.

I've seen some pretty cool drive-in movie theater trunk outfits where people lay in the back and enjoy the show. Even if not camping, it's still a great option to make the back seat more accessible.

Almost had my like before you said most potential for warm butts. I mean it only seats 7 so ofc it warms 7. Same goes for other ones. 5 for 5 or 6 for 6

I wanted the 6 seater so bad but it was priced at 82k used with 15k mikes on it basically new long story short my good neighbor caught his now ex wife with a dude he had bought her the MX 5 seater 38k miles on the suv asked me if I was interested told him it might be out my budget and I was considering getting a model 3 he said it’s yours for the remaining balance of 41k a few hours later I was getting a loan for 20k and payed him 21k cash Fucken unbelievable took him out for some stake and beers proud owner of a 5 seater Has full self driving and the newest in city self driving. Fucken amazing deal and amazing MX

I definitely would need more than 5 6 is what I really want but ig I would get seven bc it’s cheaper

It would be a tight fit, but it's probably possible! Just not nearly as comfy as the other options. Maybe in the future, Tesla will enable the 6-seats to fold all the way!

A wife and 2 kids 5 seater

The 3rd row is useless in any configuration

6-seaters are not good for people with toddlers cos an adult cannot sit next to said toddlers.
