Love my Model 3 so so so much. Have had it for almost 5 months now. Mach E is a great car too, just needs a better charging network…either way if you haven’t switched to an EV nows an excellent time with awesome options!

Model 3 cause you can charge it every where, it is cheaper, and it has more range.

The red paint on the Tesla looks terrific. The Model Y in Europe is gonna be the game changer.

I think the weight you quoted for the model 3 was the Fremont SR+ rather than the slightly heavier Shanghai SR+ which is what the UK now receives.

You don't have to use the screen for opening the glovebox. Just press the right steering wheel button and saying,' Open Glovebox'. Many more voice commands for a/c, music, nav, mirrors etc.

A choice between two good but slightly different cars is a nice thing to have.

I really don't get the hype about Android Auto or Apple Carplay. Good EV's e. g. use navigation data to preheat or cool the battery before the charging stopp, which will lead to siginificantly better charging speeds. In general the navigation will be a lot better since it can include car data such as the SOC. Spotify is also integrated in cars like a Tesla, so listening to music won't be a problem either.

It’s being able to use things like Waze (which is important here in Australia because cops get you for going just a few km over) and also Spotify etc. etc.

I feel like the Mach E makes a slightly better daily driver thanks to some of the more practical decisions Ford made like the glove box latch, head room, and Blindspot indicators

Once you drive both you'll see the clear answer is the Ford. It's just much more practical and more useful

Super charge is what put Tesla at advantage.

Good vid. I've narrowed my choices down to the Mach E Premium ER AWD and the Tesla Model 3 LR. Which EV would you recommend for Canadian winters (Toronto)? I'd require the EV for two child seats and golf clubs. Not intended for road trips. I would also be doing the majority of charging at home. Also, there are no EV incentives in Ontario.

@@surfalcatraz9770 Funny, Tesla fans take a difference of opinion as "hating". It's true that a Tesla is a proper top tier EV, but, it is expensive for its simplicity. A modern interior design does not have to look so bland (3 & Y). The Mach-E interior is better designed and organized with a sport lux vibe. A new customer for Tesla is leaving a German brand, lux. Japanese, or can easily drops 45 plus grand on a car. These consumers have expectations for their interior cabin and only the Model S, can some what compete. Case in point see the Ioniq 5, E-Tron, Taycan, etc.

I’d go for the Tesla just for the charging network, not to mention the extra features you get on the central screen. Mach E’s interior is nicer in my opinion, but the Tesla just has more features.

You can use the voice control to do pretty much anything in the Tesla, including the glovebox...

I was going to say the same thing, picked up a model 3 LR last week and already starting to do everything by voice command, I think a lot of people forget that’s an option, it works really well. You can also setup Siri Shortcuts to control the majority of car functions too

The glovebox and wiper settings can be operated via voice control. Which in the Tesla is exceptional.

@@harrisons62 not when it works, the glovebox is secure without authorised access, a reduction in extra plastic for the button saves money and the environment, the wipers work automatically and learns continuously.

Lol everytime I go to charge my car at a public station..guess which cars are there and stay there for hours. Teslas even tho they have their own network you hardly ever see them using it 😅

The mach e reminds me of a focus frame with batteries and mustang lights.

Range is very important. For me, Tesla wins

Best thing? There's now a proper choice. 18 months ago I chose a Model 3 and I'm still really happy with it and it was easily the best option a year and a half ago. No misconceptions about it being perfect though and really pleased that I'll have a choice next time. I hate SUVs though, so I'll have a look at the Mach E, but I'd be surprised if that's what I end up with.

It's not really an SUV. It is a crossover which is just another name for a hatchback that is raised a bit higher than a regular sedan.

Munro’s assessment of the Ford is well worth a look.

Well, Munro's assessment wasnt done when your comment was written. Lets look at his total rating for it now. Ford has 78 ECU's vs tesla 25, Ford has 85 fuses vs 0 on tesla. (the numbers are of the top of my head, but you can look it up yourself)

Ford put a knob on a touchscreen. effin hell lol

Rory keeps going on about the lack of blind spot indicator on the Model 3.. the interface shows someone over taking and highlights them in red on the screen, it's very noticeable when driving if you actually have it set up properly.. as all owners do. It also shows them approaching from around 15m away.

Another good review. I also appreciate that Rory pronounces the Ford with the proper translation. Mach- E rather than Mack-ee

I love your review, but in reality the competitor to the MACH E Is the Tesla model Y, done like this right now is a but apples to oranges.

I read today that the Model Y will have the 4680 batteries when Giga Berlin produces and ships to the UK - maybe in a year? That will be a larger, faster car than the Mach E but with likely 400 mile range. Other than the size everything else will be pretty much the same as the Model 3. So, if you were leaning toward MAch E, I'd wait the year for the EU-built Model Y.

Tesla are already about 7 years ahead of the other car manufacturers when it comes to battery tech. Their new batteries will increase their lead again. The only downside to Tesla is the owners who post *hilarious* videos online.

How can the 3 be king? Tesla did not even rank in the top ten EVs by autotrader.

I was so pleased to see that you called the Model 3 the KING of electric vehicles but if that is the case why wasn't it included in the Top 10 EVs? Autotrader is simply untrustworthy even though Rory did a pretty good job on the comparison.

Is Model 3 more efficient due to smaller battery size or is the range overstated?

I had a model 3 for 7 months build quality and the budget interior were the biggest issues for me and the mach e seems to do a better job in both areas.

I think you've been a bit kind to the Ford on this one. I mean I am not saying it is a bad car- but it is just so much more expensive than the Tesla that In the real world, buying it would feel like a waste of money. For the same money you could buy a Model 3 performance what is Insanely better than the Ford. Prehaps not on looks as that is a subjective category but in terms of performance, range, the charging network, and Auto drive software it really is a no contest

Mustang Mach e looks way better, would definitely choose this in Rwd for more miles per charge ,what a gorgeous car 💚😍👌👍

I agree that the Mach-E looks better. But that's about it.

Why do so many reviews ignore the voice command facility in the Tesla. It’s simple to use, quick, accurate and a proper alternative to a knob. The screen is not the only option !

The SUV label is being loosely used these days.

Using the touchscreen for some things in the Model 3 can be a bit fiddly, so use voice commands instead. Yes, even "open glovebox". There's also a physical volume control on the steering wheel.

Voice commands are slower and less reliable for simple tasks (like opening a glovebox), but can be useful for more complex operations that would require many button presses or lots of searching through menus. Ideally, you want a mixture, which is what most cars do. It just looks like Tesla are cheaping out to me since there's no reason not to have the best of both worlds.

It would be good if Tesla had a Learn mode for voice commands, attached to the driver's profile. Then they could associate a phrase with a series of actions.

The partition in the Mach E is removable. Also, the hatchback makes it easier to carry, load, and unload larger items in the Mach E. Tesla should make a liftback version of the Model 3. That shouldn't require any major retooling.

With a higher center of gravity, more weight and worse driving dynamics. If I wanted a poorer handling Model 3 the Y would have been an option. Since I didn't I chose the 3 with a trunk instead.

The technology in the Tesla is above all others. The way it shows you cars, pedestrians, objects...sentry mode...the advance pilot and full autopilot features...wifi network and all those things put the driver experience above the rest.

considering the main point of the mach e is the practicality which comes from the fact that its simply a bigger car in general, the model 3 wins, the ease of use argument of the mach e fades away when you would compare it with the model y

You took the safe route not picking a winner. It's gross

But the MachE is more expensive to drive for every km. And the battery pack will get mere degradation for every km. And this is not by a small margin at all. The weigh is really not nice.

Waiting fot model Y 7 seater built in Berlin, rumor has it will be properly put together:) Wondering also how efficent KIA EV6 will be - it looks great. One note - You can remove those elements from Mach E frunk:)

Both cars are great, but in Europe in 2021 *only the Tesla will be able to go everywhere* without any stress, ie as easily as an ICE car and with the performance and comfort of an EV. BTW the model 3 is cheaper, to buy and to run since Ionity is quite expansive. Anyway, both are fully electric so both are good choices for air quality and to help fight climate change.

It takes all of 10 minutes to remove the front trunk divider from the Mach-E if you have a flat head screwdriver.

Tbh I don't care which one is the winner, the more of these on the road and transitioning ICE cars off the road, the better. Remember the first lock down and how much better the air quality was? I want that future for my kids.

I wish you compared the base trim MachE to the base Model 3 here, but good vid nonetheless.

always been a fan of tesla but mach e has grown on me. went to see one today and really liked it. they just need to change their pricing structure. I want to upgrade to all the bells and whistles without selecting the long range model. electric boot lid is a must cos of my mrs' back issues. just waiting for the nissan ariya to finally make a decision. would be nice if tesla were to have a premium option for the standard range too. my bladder barely gives me 200 mile range.
