That's a crazy number of reservations! I wonder how many will convert to actual sales. Definitely has the potential to ignite the EV industry if enthusiasm stays high

What I am not hearing much about is the Federal tax credit. From what I understand, it ends after a manufacturer sells 200k EV's. If Tesla has sold about 100k so far between Roadster, S, and X, and they are approaching 200k reservations for the Model 3 - then that's it for the $7500 credit for buying a Tesla. Assuming even half of the Model 3 reservations turn into real sales, that is.

Exactly! Once each automaker hits 200,000 EV sales in the U.S. then the federal incentives go away. Tesla is closest to hitting this number & could do so by late next year, which makes waiting for a Model 3 a little risky.
