I've noticed only a couple videos where they ever mentioned that the driver's reaction could play a part in the stopping distance. It seems to me even a slightest delay could create quite a difference in the result.

If Matt had preheated the battery and had a full charge then the Model 3 Performance does less than 11.5 for the 1/4 mile.

@@johannpena9602 Seems like a bargain to me for the quickest production car made today. That will go 0-60 in 2.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile 9.2@154 and drama free. Plus can carry 5 people in comfort, range about 400miles and cost $12-24 in electric cost a month. Set an impressive ring times of 7:35 so it clearly doesn't handle too bad either.

Well Tesla was testing also on the green hell, Nordschleife, Porsche Taycan won, but the Model S has 7 seats! In that case the EQC would be a better match but that one is not an enemy, its a victim! Btw what do petrolheads do when a Tesla Model 3 Performance shows up at race day? They complain about that the Tesla doesnt use an allowed fuel after it won all races!

@@haywoodjablome234 I accept that a 30 minute wait would be fine in the middle of a journey when you need to have a break anyway but a track day is a perfect example of when you wouldn't. You would have been hammering so would have used most of your charge but probably wouldn't need a rest. Waiting even 30 minutes would be a pain in the arse. I can "charge" my M5 repeatedly in less than 5 minutes.

30 mph actually puts the Porsche at a low rpm in 2nd gear (turbo lag rpm). For it to be in its powerband you would need to start the race at a higher speed like 40-45 mph.

Mr. Antonio Calvo of Calvo Motor Sports with his souped high performance Dodge Viper TA made 9.8 seconds in a quarter-mile drag race. He uses after market Nth Moto components upgrade package and combines it with a DSC tuned high tech performance suspension systems package. I like how this video shows that in most real world situations short of the Autobahn, (so all real world situations here in the U.S.), the Tesla is quicker than the awesome Porsche 911 S that typically cost more than $130k U.S. Sure, testing by Car and Driver and Motor Trend show that in a best case scenario, the Porsche can run the quarter in 11.2 and the Tesla M3P takes 11.5 (both with rollout), and the Porsche won the drag here after it "warmed up" its tires with tire shredding drifts, but how often are Porsche owners willing to smoke 5-10,000 miles of tread life to "warm up their tires" in order to get a best launch. The Tesla can do its best launch anytime, anyplace, and even in the rain.

If that's how the C2S performs, I can't wait to see the new 992 turbo s

Wait until you brake longer and /or at higher speeds. Tesla's will fade and Porsches will not or way later. It's the heat that determines the performance of the brake system.

Tesla is excelarating faater. Electric-motor has instant Torque+ less moving parts. Just better. Old cars, with combation(like porsh911) have to much movng parts inside engine. So to slow excelaration. Here they just took a long Track.To let porsh win by purpose. Because Teslas E-motor is locked down by Software. Else Tesla would win anyway 😇🤗✌ Tesla is better in any case. By tesla + safe the World 🌏✌

The funny thing is: The Tesla is cheaper than a Golf (total cost of ownership)...you pay more than sticker price for a car, you know?

Why do they always start the petrol cars at a disadvantage from a roll? They should be able to utilize their strengths as well. Start them in the proper gear in manual mode at no less than 3,000 rpm and watch the result.

The looks of these new 911 supercars have improved, compared to the older models. But they still look like frogs/toads, to me.

A better driver in 911 would have won all three drag races and probably the breaking test.

In most cases, the best way to get the quarter mile time from the Tesla is to warm up the battery by typing in a supercharger location and preconditioning the battery. This warms up the battery and results in more horsepower for the first few launches. This has been shown to ad as much at 35 horsepower.

I know kids nowadays don’t enjoy nuance, but there is so much more to driving enjoyment than pure numbers.

Battery not preheated on the Tesla. You can see 4 Dota on the power bar This means it can't use the max power. If a Porsche can warm up tyres activate launch tesla should be able to precondition battery for a few minutes.

In everyday driving, the Model 3 would win at a street light. There is no launch control to worry about, no warming up the tires, no prep work. Your foot is always on top of the accelerator pedal, and as soon as the light turns gree, the Model 3 has almost no chance of a false start.

Surprised the 911 didnt stop in shorter distance, being quite lighter.

Steven Vo probably bad reactions from the Porsche driver or very good reaction from Matt, anyways repeat the test once or twice and the Porsche is going to stop in an even shorter distance since its brakes can easily handle heat and might improve to a certain extend while the Tesla’s brakes will over heat and decrease their braking power drastically.

The drone shot at 10:17 clearly shows who took the brake test win.

I love Porsche 911 always have but, I drove the model 3 and the instant power is amazing and so addictive I honestly never ever thought I would like it so much the car goes to exactly where you want it instantly without delay. I didn't want to get out of the car I wanted to keep driving it for fun. You have to drive a Tesla to know what I'm talking about. It really is amazing and definitely the future. As soon as you drive one you'd know the age of internal combustion engine is over. You got to remember we are comparing a sports car Legend and benchmark with decades of history and experience to a couple of years old Electric sedan that is half the price this by itself is an indicator for what's to come. Now imagine when a dedicated two-door sports car comes from Tesla? It'll completely destroy the internal combustion engine competition. I'll always love certain ICE legends but we can't deny the auto industry will shift very soon.

@@markburton8303 The Tesla Model 3 does not have Ludicrous Mode or launch control: you just floor the accelerator and off it goes. It takes no skill at all. The Porsche on cold tires would would ALWAYS lose the stop light drag to the Tesla.

@@mpow1404 I don't agree with you. 4x4 Porsches launch well on wet roads and don't really struggle for traction. Anyway, there's no denying teslas are fast off the mark due to motors and perfect torque, but they're a bit one trick pony. Over 100mph, they get walked. At least the Teycan with its gearbox solves the issue a bit.

It should be a new rule to warm up tires before each drag race. Because when you pull at a red light you would've been driving around already 😂

Normal tyres in normal daily driving conditions wouldnt warm them up. Youd have to go a bit nuts before the drag race!
