Tesla Long Range V Performance convoy efficiency and range comparison - much difference?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We’re doing this journey in convoy anyway so why not compare to see how much sacrifice there is when it comes to real world range and efficiency between the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance and a Dual Motor Long Range.
The LR used in this test is a pre-“highland” 2021 example with a heat pump but we’ve tested these alongside the long range highland previously and know they are pretty similar (the highland typically being a little bit more efficient).
Maybe you are thinking of changing but not sure if the reduced range of a performance will suit you. Is it too much of a sacrifice..?
Tesla do claim the new performance rear motor is more efficient so maybe it come close… let’s find out!
In this test we drive each car side by side on the same roads at the same time at the same speeds… the best way to get a true comparison!
Next video we start testing the performance 0-60 compared to previous versions (is it faster) and we have my full review on the new performance also coming very soon, now that I’ve covered over 1000 miles in its first week! I’ll share what’s good and what’s not so good!
Thanks for watching.

Got my 1st Tesla (M3SR) just over a week ago and the acceleration still amazes me, I've had performance BMW's yet the overtake in my Tesla puts them all to shame. Closest a car has ever got to riding big bikes where you have to pull out before applying the power rather than in an ICE where you have to plan a run up to the car you're about to overtake. Only issue I've had so far is some of the AutoPilot snafus like when I passed a car broken down on the hard shoulder of the M62 today and my car seemed confused and just slammed the brakes on as I went past, from 75 down to 50 in a second or two, lucky no one was behind me. Twice now when pulling back into the inside lane after passing a truck the car has emergency steered me back into the middle lane and I always leave trucks plenty of space. You had any fun(?) AutoPilot experiences to share?

The acceleration is is the best part of owning a Tesla. They are just faster than any other brand and yet still efficient unlike other brands. You'll need to get used to what is known as "phantom braking". I recently bought a Model S P100D as my first Tesla/EV and that also suffers from this erratic braking on Autopilot. To be honest I haven't been impressed with the Autopilot and lane guidance/assist RELIABILITY so far but maybe this will be fixed in a future update. Try an online search for Tesla phantom braking and you'll be surprised at the number of owners experiencing this. Never had similar problems in my Peugeot 508SW First Edition.

And Serge's comment that the difference is really minimal in ride feel, but said it is more noisy in the 2021 vs the Highland. Sounds like the bottom line is the Highland is a little quieter, but really not much other things to note as a real improvement. I would like to see that direct comparison run to see if that was just a fluke or if the previous car really is that close to the Highland.
