I just went through the whole Process with Tesla insurance from claim to fixing. Not bad. 10 days it was fixed at Tesla collision and got a Tesla rental from the collision center directly

I had a similar damage 2 years ago on my Model 3, but with only a small chip on the fendor. Total at Tesla Collision in Santa Monica was $4700, including 22.5 hours of labor. I liked the location's proximity to the Metro E line, got away with just the Metro and Uber credits, and did not bother with rental car. Repair took less than a week after parts were ordered and received. Unfortunately, my Tesla Insurance policy increased 50% afterwards. I ended up increasing my deductible to offset 1/3 of the increase.

Thanks God, you were safe, Joy. It happened to me too last 6 months ago. Almost the same accident damage as yours. If no cctv were set up at parking lot, i might need to pay 1000 deductible and cost 4200 to fix. Luckily i was not at fault according to police. Since that day I got a lesson to make sure there is a usb installed for activating sentry mode, especially on rental car. If not, it’s hard to prove that the facts like the situation happened to me.

I had Tesla insurance too but the safety score became a huge nightmare and every time the Tesla had FCW my premium went up for no reason so USAA it is!

USAA here too, was contemplating Tesla Insurance, but the car monitoring seems to be questionable. Luckily, we have a dash cam on Teslas to assist in fault determination. Curious if it was just easier for both Insurance companies just to settle 50/50 between both parties for simplistic sake. Also curious if during the repairs IF the price increased in damages?

One is the few good things about California is they cannot use the score for insurance premiums. Although I believe we drive safe, I could see how the score could get messed up if someone cuts you off then brakes, etc

Wow, this is so different from all the other stories I have heard about Tesla Insurance. I was thinking of going off Tesla Insurance just in case even though Tesla Insurance is cheaper. I will now not be so much in a hurry.

Who was it that determined you were both at fault? Did your dashcam automatically record the accident?

Sounds expensive for what looks like modest damage unless some of the crash structure underneath needs repair. And I wonder if certain body shops could just repair the existing parts instead of replacing everything. Skilled people can make it look brand new.

I believe Tesla has a standard repair procedure for these approved body shops to abide to. Otherwise they will lose their approval status.

Luckier than me. I just received the "Unable to charge - Maximum charge level reached" error code on my 2021 M3P with 60K. Time to replace the entire batter pack.

Hi Joy, sorry to hear about the accident but glad that it was minor. Very curious to know, with Tesla Insurance, how using FSD or AP/EAP during an accident affects responsibility during an accident and if this is different with Tesla Insurance vs. other insurers. Does it absolve the driver of ANY liability if FSD is used during an accident? I’m actually surprised that the estimate was only $6000. I had a very minor accident on an M3 RWD and the estimate was $2300 and it ended up costing $4100. It was nowhere near the damage as was on your M3. Just a really bad scuff on the bumper and an indentation near the frunk. We don’t have Tesla Collision here so had to use an approved body shop. They ended up finding underlying damage so the final cost went way up. Curious to know if they’ll find underlying damage on yours as well and if the cost ends up the same as the estimate for you. I take it you didn’t have diminished value on your claim? Curious, what kind of car did the other guy drive and how much damage was on his car?

Tesla is leaving a lot of money on the table. Tesla should allow you to swap you car with a comparable Tesla when owners get in an accident. Then Tesla deals with the damaged car and the body shop. Once the Tesla is repaired, lease it out or have it available when another owner gets in an accident. Think Apple with iPhone and how they swap out your iPhone when something happens. Tesla should treat cars the same way and own the car market.

I wonder how much it would have been to just have it handled without insurance and to have the parts replaced out of pocket to prevent any claims against you.

My service experience has been bad enough that I will probably never buy another Tesla. I rarely hear about bad experience on the tesla related you tube channels.

Not at all. Tesla only tracks those with at least 100K subscribers. They don’t even know my real name just by looking at my channel. Somehow people think just because you upload videos here you are some kind of celebrity. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
