the reason it limits charging to a certain percent is to extend the battery's lifetime i believe. costs less cycles to charge to, say, 80%. this is also something you should do with your phone, if you don't upgrade it every year.

You mentioned the mileage not being accurate. That's because the map and battery mileage doesn't account for the weight of the car, weather or other factors that might reduce the overall mileage. The mileage is just based on the most you could get from the battery if it has 1 driver and the rest of the car is empty with good weather. Also the temperature of the battery also matters as well as the age (the older the battery the less mileage)

The thing I find with electric cars is that the stops usually come at a time when you kinda want to, or at least *should* take a break anyway. The average gas fill up takes 10 mins anyway and some cars can get to like 80% in 15 or 20 I think, a bit faster charging and maybe a little bit of extra range and they’d be perfect. Also, you can sit in the car and play games, watch tv, etc. Not just crappy mobile games either, you can play Witcher 3 on a Tesla.

Well as of now it's kind of in-between. It's more than just assisted driving as the car can do pretty much anything alone in roads that do not have intersections. The car will take proper exits, will change lanes and adjust its speed depending on the cars around, as well as steer itself (obviously) to stay on course. Tesla already has functional full self driving versions of the autopilot software and should release it in the coming months if legislations allows it.

No he’s right. Autopilot on aircraft can take off the aircraft, control speed, turn on routes, get on approaches, and even land. The Tesla is not like that; it won’t turn, you have to touch the wheel every 10 seconds, and there’s a few more minor annoyances

Sounds like you had a fun adventure... however if you had been in a Lucid Air Grand Touring you could have made the trip with one charging stop in Memphis plus a 10-minute stop just outside of Chicago (516 miles range).

There is something about driving a rental up I-35 through Oklahoma.. I make trips up that route 2 times a week. My car broke down so I got a rental for 4 weeks and got pulled over 6 times. For various odd reasons.. Changing Lanes too quickly... driving too close to a semi... It was a very odd experience.

Yeah plus as it steers for you on freeways or highways and stops and goes. But if you buy the actual 8,000 option autopilot as of now it can go on to streets, reed stop lights and stop signs turn lanes and a lot more. By the end of the year musk said it will be able to drive itself on the road but he has to get it passed by the government or some shit

No, it is autopilot such as in real life when pilots use it, it does basic features such as managing turbulence or travelling to the right location, but it needs human intervention.

From Tesla's own website: "Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability are intended for use with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any moment. While these features are designed to become more capable over time, the currently enabled features do not make the vehicle autonomous." The name is very misleading. The kind of Autonomous vehicle you're picturing is a Level 5 system. Tesla's "Autopilot" is only at Level 1 or 2. It has a long way to go. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-driving_car
