Territorial marking - Male Tiger

Territorial marking by the male tiger at Pench Tiger Reserve. Tigers are territorial and the trees they generally use as scratching posts are around the edge of their territory to advertise the fact to other tigers that they are tresspassing. Tigers will also jump up against the tree so that it appears to intruders that they are bigger than they actually are. It also keeps the claws sharp and in good condition.
