Tennis Forehand Wrist Lag in 3 Steps - Forehand Lag Explained. Achieving the perfect forehand lag is vital to generate effortless power & topspin. We look at ATP Forehands of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer technique and how you can easily apply it to your game.

At the start we will break down exactly what forehand wrist lag is, why we use it and what are the main benefits before we reveal our 3 simple steps you can follow to upgrade your forehand.
Step 1 is all about the setup for the shot, our takeback and how we can maximise our chances to achieve an effortless lag that will help us generate a fast racquet head at contact.
Step 2 will reveal the forehand drop and the use of your kinetic chain. We will teach you how to use your body to take the stress out of your arm.
Step 3 is all about the contact point and how to achieve the perfect relaxation in your technique through some tricks we learnt throughout the years.
Lastly we will leave you with a great drill you can do to feel the perfect wrist lag and engrain it into your muscle memory.

How to use the legs. Like a breakdown with drills and everything. Everyone says to push but where? Up, to the side, back? Is there a timing to it? Can you do it to early can you do it to late? There isn't tons of videos on effective leg use.

Hi guys, I'm only a casual weekend player but I'm trying to get better, and videos like this are helping me immensely! I've always found it tricky to consistently get the proper racket lag along with moving around the court on my forehand, but I can't wait to try out the towel and racket drills.

Re: possible future lesson. Like most club players my age I only play doubles these days and am getting a bit confused by some of today's positing Eg. As to the reasoning why the server's partner now stands in a central position at the net and is their any truth that doubles partners should image they are attached together by a piece of string when they move about court? Just basic stuff really. Thank you. Tony.

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I need the most help with my serve, but also directing the ball, so maybe drills on getting the ball where you want it to go, specifically hitting forehand and back hand down the line. I'm trying to work on not hitting into my opponent's striking zone every time

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I watched your video on the one-handed backhand. But I'm always making contact with the ball too late. The great thing about this wrist lag video is that mastering your last drill effectively guarantees I won't hit the ball late. If there were a similar drill for the one-handed backhand or other tips for getting the timing and spacing right, that would be most useful.

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Do the d.handed/single back hand lag like Novak/fed style. You covered it before but can you do it similar to this video featuring a drill
The tip at 6:29 is brilliant. I tend to grip the racket way too tight and end up losing power in my shots and becoming fatigued easily. Definitely will following the advice on keeping the fingers loose when taking the racket back and then grip tighter on the swing. Cheers

I found it on iOS(and iPadOS) but cant play/test it rn and im curious about whether or not it’s accurate and if it’s useful to learn about your game in some way. Very nice lesson guys👍...that bloody forehand lag... thank you for the tips and the drills! Which Vcore is this that Alex has ?
Nice video, last drill/exercise rocks! It would be a great idea to see a video about kinetic chain and drills to automate an efficient body transfer for the forehand. I tend to turn exageratelly to the sides, spoil the equilibrium and loose lot of energy applied to the ball as a consecuence, specially when the rally is at high speed.

When I work on repetitions and drills my arm is very stiff, not relaxed at all + I never breathe when I hit the ball. Your video really helped me guys. Thank you. I just want to get better and play my first tournaments :(

For many juniors, they’ll be using lag to some degree once they start playing high level regional/national in their age group. It can always be improved but often that comes from creating an ideal swing for them. That’s work that should be done as soon as they can hit the ball and rally

What's the difference between the racquet facing the ground or facing the right side of court? Does facing the ground creates more top spin, and facing the side of the court hits a more flat shot?
