    Neil is thekey. The N of the magic square. Hence Sator keeps Kate, away from his son! He knows that, himself is the outside of the square, that Neil is the key to Tenet. . PENTAGON IN FREEPORT! And get's his son shot in the head, He knows, but he is not ready to kill him until he knows that his own time has come to launch the algorithm... It's a Mobius timeloop. Anyhow... The movie is the magic square... Each letter is a layer... It's esoterica cinema, and it's pure genius.... And I may be off myself. But that is also the genius of the Sator Square, 5... 5 is the key ;) Quintessence, and the Pentagon/Pentagrams. How come no one asked why there were the 5 layred pentagon in FREEPORT... Oh man, this film is just awesome. And madness and genius are often bedfellows.

    SATOR - The main baddie with this last name was literally digging up (or farming) radioactive material when he came upon the info that led to the rest of the events in the movie. A far simpler explanation.

    Tenet also means principle or belief in English, which of course refers to the strict code of conduct that everyone in the organization follows, lying is standard protocol, the organization itself can be seen as a religion, in which the protagonist puts blind faith in, following the tenets of said religion, without fully understanding it himself, only in the end does he realize he created the organization, he is the one in charge of his own life, controlling himself, thus aptly is the protagonist

    I don't know if Christopher Nolan has discussed this in his interviews, but I can certainly see something like the Sator Square being the seed of a movie idea - a linguistic quirk which you can hang various ideas and narratives off. To me that's what this movie felt like - an interesting play-thing which a lot of supporting ideas had been attached to to try to give it meaning, but something got lost along the way and too much effort was put into trying to make the extropy idea work rather than building a solid story. Thinking about it after, it felt like a magic eye picture - hazy at first, then when you "get it" there's an oh moment and it's interesting but ultimately you're looking at a pretty uninteresting picture of a cat. There's or course a certain appeal to films like this in the digging work after, of finding the clues or threads left through it. But I don't think that makes up for it being basically a bond film - big opening, lead character fighting the villain who just happens to be a maniac who finds a weapon, meeting his middle men along the way, saving a woman, and ultimately saving the world.

  • @davidlean1060

    I found myself thinking much the same thing as I watched it. The idea of a palindromic narrative which requires a rewatch, thus giving the audience an experience like an inverted character in the film ie they know what is going to happen and therefore view the film differently. It's all very clever, very meta, but that aside, it's still just a Bond inspired caper movie. Granted, it's one hell of a production. Having actors move backwards through a scene, but then reverse the footage, it would have been a blast to work out the details of how to film the thing, but it seems to be all concept and little else.

  • @Cal1hippie

    @Cal1hippie

    That's a good point. I can see what you are saying, but if you think about it, there are only 6 plot lines in the world of literature, so basically all stories are just "dress ups." What makes it so exciting is not just the story, but how you tell it. I think Nolan is not just after the story, he is helping us rethink our concepts of philosophical things like time, dreams, good vs. evil....why do we do the things we do? It's pretty simple really, but we make things more complicated, and that's what stories do too. 🙂

    Great video! One thing I noticed - and I feel like people don't talk about it much, but maybe it's just so obvious - is that the movie's structure also resembles a palindrome, basically Opera - ship - Oslo - Mumbai - Tallinn - Mumbai - Oslo - ship - Stalsk-12 (which, according to Sir Michael, is at the same point in time as the opera) and some images and items like the string on the back pack and the cyanide pill make matching appearances at the beginning and the end of the movie. It's not 100% perfect (no 2nd appearance by Sir Michael, one more trip to Mumbai in the first half), but I think it's noteworthy how well Nolan achieved this while still delivering a forward moving plot :)

    Finally, someone provides the meaning of the Latin words. Several "Tenet explained" videos mention the square without that essential bit. And none mentioned the connection of Sator and Saturn which totally makes sense. I always love time travel movies because I can laugh at the bonehead critics who can't understand them. With TENET I'm glad I cheated and watched videos like this first. I still want to get the DVD so I can watch the special features and then go through it again. And maybe again. Definitely not for people who like simple movies.

    @@lennartweber2228 he just made a typo, saw several other videos where the letters arranged actually write pater noster (still with the two a's and o's remaining, still with the alpha omega thingy), you can even count them, you'll see the a's in patar noster are too much and there lacks two e's (maybe four for each but you get the point). Typos happen, tbh in this case it doesn't do service to the theory, and i do find it a bit far fetched in general (i don't think Nolan went this far, then again, who knows?) It's just part of the magic square you can do tons of things with it, even if it was not intended in the beginning, hence the 'magic' part.

    Earlier this year I started having visions and it's a long story but there were multiple spirits all of a sudden that I could communicate with and there were all kinds, good and evil. I was getting so twisted and turned around emotionally and it became this spiritual attack. I started getting visions of these hands clasping together during a peaceful moment of my spiritual awakening and was visualizing it representing how we're all one on this Earth and connected to all the universe and God by this energy that I was picking up on. This different frequency and I could communicate with the spirit realm but I also became a target. I was under spiritual attack for a time and trying what I could but people wouldn't believe me. I was given inspiration to watch this movie Tenet and it had all these synchronicities to the visions I'd just been having. And I'd been telling a few people in the days just before I'd watched the movie how I could see and feel the world in these new/spiritual ways and kept comparing it to the Twilight movies because that was the best way to describe these visions and feelings. Well early into Tenet the protagonist says "we live in a twilight world" so I'm like, Wtf?! Then another character does that hand clasp with the word Tenet and it stopped being just a movie. I was led then to lookup about the Sator Square and honestly believe my faith in God and Christ and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and they led me through. A whole bunch of other visions were shown to me and if people repent and ask God for Truth, I think He'll answer you too

    I’ve been thinking about how to approach this review on Tenet without giving the impression of bashing the movie or hating on it. Cause I did like this movie but I certainly have a lot to say. Let’s start with this, I was like everyone else with Tenet. I was super excited, who wouldn’t be! Christopher Nolan directing, big budget summer blockbuster, with a complex plot, awesome trailer and a great cast! I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time and as soon as I found a showtime for my city I decided I had to go. So I saw Tenet and I have to say, this is a Christopher Nolan movie. It has his style of direction all over it. The complex and dense plot, big action spectacles and a long runtime. Will people like it, most likely unfortunate for me not so much. What really bothered me about this movie was the plot and how Nolan told this story. It didn’t feel cohesive or even understandable really but rather very confusing, rushed and the outcome of it all made me question what was the purpose of all that just happened. Even some of the plot points of this movie that kinda make sense doesn’t actually do. Like I didn’t really know much about the villain or his goals and there wasn’t enough character development to him other than a cliche evil plan, him being just a jerk but the actor who portrays him did a good job. The acting of this character gave an impression of unintentionally being funny and entertaining. But a lot of this movie felt like it was trying to be an extravaganza of action scenes, set pieces and dazzling spectacles. Luckily It does accomplish that though, a lot of the times. The action is really well done and does a lot of the spectacles. I just wish that the movie presented a more compelling story, because it felt as though it was kinda trying too. The story, plotting and even sometimes the screenplay felt so jumbled throughout the entire runtime. It tries to be so intellectual and complex but at the end it didn’t succeed at it. Overall Tenet wasn’t as great as I hoped for but, big and sometimes fun action scenes, good acting, sound design, and the look of the movie are all positives for Tenet. Maybe I just wasn’t smart enough to appreciate all this movie had to offer and that’s unfortunate, but I did have some fun with Tenet and think most people will enjoy it.

If he does not know she is his mother, that would mean he gets separated from her at an earlier age. Like near the age we see the young kid in the movie. But we get the happy ending...

    The writer of this movie is obviously an Occultist and a very knowledgeable one at thar. The true meaning of the sator square isn't known to many. Personally I think the movie was horrible but all the elements of the squares meaning is woven throughout the plot. I went reveal the meaning but i will say what it is in essence.. it contains a magical formula or methodology that you'll find discussed in the works of Alistair Crowley. It's incredibly simple really so simple it's hard

    Also related to religion somehow, the school max goes to is called Cannon Hill i think, but in at least two shots i noticed, a pole is perfectly situated in front of one of the Ns, making the sign say CANON, which is the truth, or accepted thing or reality. The books included in the Bible are the canon.

    you only need a mask when inverted. Kat on the yacht was the future Kat traveled back in time (through the inverted space) and prior to getting on the yacht went through the turnstile - so she went back through time but was inverted before placing herself on the yacht where time moves properly. Not much of a riddle - its all explained in the movie.

    The left over OA AO (Alpah and Omega) combine with the N from teNet to reference the god AON (AION) and connecting the letters makes the sign of the Knights Templar (a cross). The Knights Templar left clues to the location of the Ark of the Convenient which is stated in the Bible to hold radioactive material that caused tumors in it bearers. This device was stolen from King Solomn and the Temple Mount where the Knights Templar were later headquartered (just watched a Graham Hancock talk on the Ark). Is it possible that the device is the Ark, which where both hidden and lost to time? AION/ AEON/ AON is a time god that is represented as a man in the wheel (ROTAS) of the zodiac. He represents the cyclical nature of time vs the our linear view. Sator, in doing the bidding of the future was damning his children/ child / future generations as Saturn ate his own children.

    That's why they carried the ARK inside a solid gold box. Which would have granted them protection from it's radioactive properties. Gold formed a Faraday cage keeping the radioactivity contained.
