This Cracker Barrel copycat crockpot roast beef recipe is so delicious and easy to make. If you love slow cooker recipes, you will definitely love this one! Slow cooker meals take the the stress out of cooking dinner, and give your house an amazing aroma!
Ingredients:
3 lb. Chuck Roast
1/2 can Beef Broth (I make 1 cup from a cube/package)
1/4 cup Flour (or less)
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 or 2 cloves Garlic
1 medium Onion, diced
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Bay Leaf
dash of Salt and Pepper
Wash chuck roast. Season generously with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Coat with flour. Place floured roast into oiled skillet and brown lightly on both sides. While browning roast, add diced onion to skillet. Transfer roast and onions to greased crockpot. Toss in whole garlic cloves and bay leaf. Pour beef broth over roast and add salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours (or on high for 4 or 5 hours).
To make the gravy, put a handful of flour into a bowl. Add a few tablespoons of liquid from crockpot. Mix liquid and flour into a paste, and pour it back into the crockpot and mix it in so you get a gravy. You can modify this step until the gravy is as thick/thin as you like.
