this really needs to be made into a horror game. like their are different rules each day and you can choose to follow, investigate, or purposely go against instructions. walk around and see what happens if your outside the office, in that hall open those doors and whatever else you want to do. it would be cool if the real reason you are thier is to distract the entities from escaping as faith sizemore commented and you can decide if keeping others safe is worth that hell.

I’d work there. Just follow the rules. Plus additional rule they should have mentioned: 1. If you feel a shadow in the room with you, it won’t hurt you. 2. If you see anything look at you, do not look back. 3. The screaming will stop, just keep ignoring it (try some earplugs). The screaming at 4:01 will go away, DO NOT acknowledge it’s existence, the door will hold. Do not look at its face in the camera. 4. Document everything you do. On every medium, you can. The office seems like the homebase/safezone so you shouldn’t have to worry about anything. The door will hold. 5. Bring supplies with you. 6. Ask a lot of questions, be obvious and transparent about why you asking. People tend not to fuck with those who take a direct approach. Alternatively, if for whatever reason you feel a sense of wrongness whenever you start asking things, stop immediately and don’t ask anything, try to seem as ditzy and ignorant as possible. 7. Leave a note explaining where you are going, when you should be back, and what to do if you don’t return for anyone that might need it should something happen to you. Leave the note with someone and tell them as well, just to be safe. You know what tell as many people as you can, blast it on social media, and keep letters in caches in random places. Screenshot the info about the place you are going too and your application. Get and keep irrefutable evidence of this place. DO NOT tell anyone you have it though. That would only put them at risk should they be watched. 8. Try working multiple nights to see if there are any changes or new anomalies. 9. Remember the list of what Dr. Bright is not allowed to do. 10. Know what class of person you are in if the anomalies here from the Keter class, and As always be respectful to whatever beings/anomalies are there. 11. Ask if religious items, specifically those of any Abrahamic ones, would be problematic or offensive to the entities there. If they say not to, that is a good indication that whatever is there is demonic in nature, thus salt, silver, and iron are your friends. 12. You gotta be a scout when it comes to this if getting things right on your first try is something you are decently good at you may not want to apply. You can not half-ass this job. 13. If you are mentally unstable or have any unresolved psychological problems, have a habit of falling asleep easily, are easily scared, or partake in substance abuse than DO NOT APPLY! 14. When in doubt you could bring lamps or flashlights that mimic the intensity of UV sunlight, it might not hold them off for long, but if shit hits the fan it might buy you enough time. 15. Do not be unnecessarily violent or threatening, you are on THEIR turf here, you gotta play by their rules. 16. If you have a gun, bring it, and plenty of ammo. If the bullets don’t work on whatever you are up against then it’s a better way out than whatever they have planned for you. 17. Politeness and Manners can get you very far in any company, even that of paranormal kinds. 18. Bring an extensive first aid kit. Emergency preparedness bag, and lots of common meds like for a headache or diarrhea. Most people don’t know that paranormal beings tend to cause random bouts of the squirts and indigestion. 19. I don’t care what you believe in, do not count on prayer to save your ass. I know in some situations its a good idea for the religious but I sincerely doubt it will help with these creatures and something tells me that whatever place that building is, no “God” has the power there. Especially when you take into account that humans consider anything that can live over a few centuries a God. 20. Despite its phrasing, “Fight or flight” doesn’t mean you have to choose just one. 21. Playing dead is likely ineffective to entities that are above the average human intelligence. 22. Blades don’t need reloading, but silver bullets are easier to make in large quantities. 23. Stay well hydrated and full of healthy food, you never know when you might be without for a long period of time. 24. If you do bring food or other drinks with you, be generous and share some with the “coffee demon”, it might earn you their favor in the future. 25. If paranoia starts to take over you, remember that regardless of how real these things are, fearing them will not make them go away. 26. Dress in layers, it’s practical. 27. Wear closed toed, shoes or boots if possible with a steel toe. 28. Do not taunt the beings there, but do not grovel, be fair and kind but don’t appear weak. 29. Bring blankets and pillows. There aren’t any rules against comfort! 30. Desensitize yourself to horror, fear, blood, gore, etc... then nothing will surprise you. 31. Try to see if they’d accept a team of “security guards” so that you’d have additional back up and an extra set of eyes looking out for you. If two people, never split up outside the security office. However, be warned that this could make you appear more threatening to the beings that are present. 32. Learn more than one language and a dead language. Learn how to recognize runic symbols what their meanings are. 33. Not all being like to be fair, make sure it is the correct time before exiting the building. 34. Mirrors and darkness do not mix well. 35. Mirrors are a general no. 36. Remember that paranormal entities tend to cause interference with tech equipment so video or audio recordings may be hard to get. 37. It isn’t dead unless it’s in five pieces, brain crushed, salted, burnt to ash, then have the ashes scattered. This applies to corporeal entities only. 38. When you pack the medical kit, stuff it with everything you can. No medicine that causes sleepiness. Make sure to have things for nausea, ingestion, stomach aches, diarrhea, constipation, allergic reactions, headaches/migraines, any prescriptions medication you need, antibiotics/painkillers (if you can), adrenaline shots, trauma kit, sutures and closures, a medical book detailing how to actually use all this. EpiPen's and Adrenaline shots are never a bad thing to include. 39. If someone tells you to sign something in blood, don’t sign it. If you value the existence of your soul that is. 40. For easy protection against corporeal and non-corporeal entities, Use Iron to make straight hollow bars of various sizes that fit multiple sized entries ways and lock into place when you lay them down, And pack those motherfuckers full of pure, medium-large grain salt, that had a water-resistant interior layer, and keep it with you, the same thing with a premade metal hoop of salt. Remember to fill it so no gaps are in the bar or hoop or else it won't work. This is not an exhaustive list, add as much as you can to it. Edit: Lol can believe it’s been years, thanks for all the likes ❤

Working from sunset to 9 am would be about 16 hours. Each shift gives an earning of $592. Working only Mon-Fri would estimate about $2,960. Monthly income; $11,800. Yearly income would be $142,000. Yup, sign me up! I don't mind how hideous or terrifing it is. Hell, I would even live there.

The zombies I meet in retail are scarier than any demon you could encounter on this job. It's a horrible environment. And there was a time I nearly snapped. I did think about hitting an employee with something really heavy even if it meant jail time. The fucktard SOOO deserved it. He truly was the type who would get no sympathy from people if three guys jumped him and stomped him into the ground. Don't even get me started on the MIS-managers. They were utterly useless and seriously, they didn't care one bit about my safety. Shopping rage? They did nothing. "Customer" threatens me just because his FAKE-ass check got declined? They still did nothing. As a result, I couldn't feel any sympathy when I heard that the store got robbed big-time. I mean thousands of bucks of stuff was stolen and it was an inside job. I felt it was karma coming back to make them pay.

It’s 4:00 am right now, I fell asleep to this and had the most insane dream and thought I would share it as I JUST woke up and felt the need to write everything down. Here’s what happened I remember laying in bed, tossing and turning, trying to get to sleep, listening to ‘Ten Rules For The Night Security Guard’ (amazing btw) as I did so. At some point along the way, I slipped without ever noticing. Still laying in bed, the right side of my neck began to itch and burn. I took out my phone and checked with my camera and there was a bite mark clear as day on the right side of my neck. I began to hyperventilate as my movement became slow, a wave of incredibly cold air came over me. I looked at the clock, 1:00 am. Weird. I was then dragged to the end of my bed by something. I crawled forward, still freaking out. I then get up and RUN to my mom’s and the lights inside her room are on, is she getting up for work at this time? I bang on her door on my knees, quiet at first, then louder till she hears me. She opens the door and I show her my neck. “Something bit me.” Jordan opens her door too. My mom takes a look, says “oh my god” in a dramatic “not again” kind of way and walked downstairs to sit at the island, forehead in hand. I rush downstairs and remember asking myself “am I dreaming?” A moment later I snap back to being in bed, 4:00 am. I felt my neck and it was fine. This was the most subtly crafted absolute mind fuck of a dream/nightmare I’ve ever had. Cheers.

So the protagonist got fired from their real job, locked themselves in a room, browsed /r/SCP for a few hours, took drugs to forget the pain, then had a pseudo nightmare/night terror fueled by the very drugs they took to forget said pain; afterwards posting it on Reddit after forgetting they took drugs? The creature at 4:01 AM was also likely inspired by a REAL someone knocking on their door to see if they were okay (considering they've been locked in since their 'shift' started). It also could've been subconscious recollection of them having to get up at that time for their real job, and the monster was merely an extremely radical characterization of their boss getting angry at them for being late. At-least, that's my take on the story. The entire experience sounds extremely similar to a dream (the only physical 'person' immediately left after giving specified instructions with only one perceived emotion, which is typical of an average dream-character; and any minor physical evidence of things being tampered with was always erased).

Federal law establishes a minimal requirement for paychecks if you get fired or leave for other reasons; otherwise the company could get sued in court by the employee if the check isn't given within 72 hours. Some state laws may say they have to immediately give the final check, too. With that knowledge, it's safe to assume the protagonist definitely would've gotten their check, fired or not.

Rules for the security guards I hire: 1.lock all doors before 12am 2.cover all the windows with a piece of paper or something 3.never leave the office past 1am 4.i you see something (inhuman) wandering around, get as far away from it as you can (remaining in the building) 5.if it sees you, look away, but don’t move otherwise 6.when you arrive in your office, closed the door, and lock it TIGHT 7.if you see the thing outside your office, hide under your desk. 8.if the thing sees you, turn all nearby lights giving your position away OFF 9.when you see the thing enter your office, check the time. Wait until 5am to leave your hiding space 10.do not look at the thing until 5am, when your shift ends at the thing disappears

It sounds like an scp foundation but it definitely isn't. They wouldnt let only 1 security guard do it. They'd also take extremely good precautionary measures to keep it contained regardless of how many guards there are. In the real thing, the facility would be built such as those things would not be able to breach no matter what. Of course if it was a keter there is only so much you can do. Non the less I loved this story

You are a genius. I was just thinking the same thing years later. (I’m new to creepypastas on KZread). This would be a freaking wonderful game! Like, you get the rule sheet and decide to follow it or not.. maybe you get half the sheet and have to find the other half when making your rounds? I dunno but I think I’m going to talk someone about what to do to make this.
