To hear it sung by young men about the age of a Civil War soldier makes it all the more heart wrenching.

Please don’t speak to me of reparations. 340,000 Union Soldiers gave their lives in the Civil War. Every fourth farm, cabin, apartment, or house, lost a man. This does not include those who survived with horrific wounds and amputations with no anesthesia but whiskey, if they were lucky.

I love this song so much, this year the TTB honor choir sung this and I’m in SA. Last night was the concert, when I heard them sing it. I started bawling my eyes out, and so did many people around me. This song hits kinda hard to me. I lost my grandpa, and we were really close. So it hurt listening to it, but the Andrea Ramsey was the ttb honor choir director which was fucking cool.

No - just no. That would be "choreography" and not appropriate in this setting. The swaying is simply an extension of emotion in the music and actually shows freedom of tension in the singer.
