Seems like a lot of you find Tekton speakers unattractive. Message received, but Mr. Alexander has built very successful company in spite of that. Your opinions or just that opinions, thank you very much

Well…Mr. Alexander put a "brand" together. Tag: "High quality sound at a reasonable price (with upgrade options 🙂)". I knew that the first time that I laid eyes on them. (I want to lay ears on them some day). The D.I.Y. cabinet-vibe comes with this brand. It’s in your face from day one. Add the spider eye and your visuals are just destroyed! 😬…. They make me smile for that reason. Apparently, it’s like an unattractive girlfriend who is hot in the sack. Let people giggle…you are the one walking around with a smirk on your face……

I actually like the usual designs and the ability to buy a custom color like orange or any color. I’m just overwhelmed by how many speakers Mr. A. offers. Luckily I have a small room and that limits my options. A nice set of Mini Lores and and low powered amp and I am good to go. Thanks for the nifty review Steve of this new model.

Weird concept: the distance between upper and lower mid-freq tweeter is way larger than the diameter of the mid woofer. Meaning for spatial accuracy a dedicated 4“ mid chassis, plus a good woofer and a good hf chassis would perhaps be the better choice, and fit in the same size box, and have the same complex x-over. remains the advantages of smaller lighter units - which may be what SG calls „more fun“. But then think of surface vs required displacement amplitude for mids on 2 tweeters vs one 4“ lightweight mid chassis? then again Opera did a similar concept on their Callas 3 ways standmount, that got great feedback Best to listen for yourselves…

I've been thinking about finally putting together a really good main system for my mid-life crisis (In lieu of buying an Italian motorcycle) Lot of good stuff out there.....but I think I gotta go w/ big Tektons for that shear sense of scale and high efficiency. I think in order to get closer to live music you have to have big speakers that are efficient so even modest amps can have plenty of headroom. I think they look fine. I don't care about having exotic wood veneered cabs. And you can't beat the pricing.

The first time I tried to critically listen to Tektons I found the arrays Eric's speakers employ to sound totally different when you change your ear position relative to the speaker. Initially the feeling was uncomfortable as the brain had to readjust to change in sound. That was the Double Impact model. More recently I listened to his Impact Monitors-basically a larger standmount- and found them to sound pretty good. At $2k/pair they should. As far as the appearance goes, he isn't targeting boomers. A box beats a coffin in appearance. So if you do not like red get the boring black or dark grey.

That driver layout has been quite common in professional monitors designed for surround sound monitoring with many channels (five, seven, Atmos, etc.) for decades. With purposeful crossover design it allows for precise control of directivity, specifically as you mention in this review, very narrow, controlled, dispersion.

Just picked up some Harbeth 30.1 speakers for a small computer desk top system and they greatly eclipse the Tetra 222s that preceded them. Can't help wondering if the Tektons might offer up more textural detail, (for a lot less $$). Not many audiophiles have caught on to the narcotic properties of music that was coming out of Germany in the 70's, (good on ya and better late than never). @@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Thanks Steve. Compare the sound on the main part of the video to the sound when you are describing the "system of the day". Different and to my ears the main part of the video doesn't have the same clarity. Don't know if you will agree or if that will bother you. Will still watch your videos. My kids know you're the only YT channel I will faithfully watch every latest one as it comes along.

@@josemanrico8544 The audible differences experienced during the "System of the Day" dialog, sound like spatial loading variation. a.) While recording the review video, Steve's more in free space, with few early reflections. b.) While recording the dialog for SotD, Steve's immediate surroundings and proximity to them is clearly heard. Sounds like he's directly in front of a surface, perhaps a display monitor.

As a speaker builder I find this speakers with one caveat, more than 1 tweeter makes a disaster high frequencies phase problems, you get lower stress tweeter diaphragm at very high levels but with the expense of having less detailed high frequencies.

Certain speaker systems need a certain app I have found that some speakers sound better on a solid-state amp and others sound better on a tube amp that's all on how they are put together and the crossovers and it also depends on the person who's listening to her and where the Rome at that they are putting and the Furnishings that are in the room there are a lot of different things that can sit a shin speakers off to make them sound right and one little thing can make them sound terrible you just have to keep experimenting until you can get them to a point to where they sound great
