Im only speaking for keyboard players here. For electrics, the most important part of hitting electrics consistently is hitting the last forward and 2 at the same time. You can F n D(hold) then press F 2 to get an electric. Hope this helps out somebody

A normal electric's (EWGF) input is stated above, A Perfect electric wind god fist (PEWGF, kazuya exclusive....as far as my memory serves me) is a stricter and faster version of it. Having the input of F n then DF2 and the exact same frame. Another way is F,D,DF2. Skipping the neutral.

jesus christ thank you so much for this. i've been practicing EWGF just frame timing for hours now on reina. it's been really really rough as a brand new Tekken player coming from the 2D anime fighter space and as an intermediate street fighter player. I noticed when I closed my eyes while executing the button presses and tried to go off the noise of my button presses to time it, it was slightly easier. I can't wait to try out this video when I get home.

Also for many people playing Mishimas on the right side is much easier, I can hit electrics on pad more consistent than left side even tho it's my main preference. Try it out let me know if it helps

Going to try the OP's idea of closing my eyes, but wanted to see about electrics from the right. I know I saw people on arcade stick preferring the right side cause of the control you gain with your thumb. I think what my problem maybe is that my input for "down" is very quickly also read as "downfoward" cause of how thumbs would naturally out pressure down and to the right. So in a day or two, whenever I catch up on college work lol, I'll try it from the right side. As I imagine that this might fix my issue. Thanks for the tip! @@Maseo.

I didn't realize the qcf moves were just frames. This characters so fucking cool

As a Tekken newbie (never really played tooooo much of the previous ones, cause I didn't have a character I really liked like Reina now), the way I managed to get ewgf somewhat consistently on pad is to try to input 2 way earlier, when (in my head) my thumb is still on down. That way, by the time I actually press 2, it matches with down-forward. Kind of a mentality thing, but maybe it helps other people. Also, your videos have been helping me a ton! Thanks!

I hate helping a Reina scrub but it works for kazuya and maybe you will try kazuya instead of using the lame poser: just use L1 for 2+3 and do the electric with L1. It works really well because you can still use it for heat engager if you press nothing but just L1. Of course it's gonna slow it down if you need it out of dashes and backdashes as directions get buffered and you get other moves. Like if you want to use a heat engager out of a wave dash, doing it with L1 with result in an electric or wind god fist unless you cancel the wave dash first. Right now I have the beat engager on L2, L1 as 2+3 for electrics, R1 as 3+4 and R2 as 1+2. R3 for rage arts just in case but I don't really need it cuz it's a universal df 1+2. Or maybe you can just do as 90% of Reina mains will do: use simple controls and let her electric by herself. Just let the game play itself like Tekken 8 was made to be played. It's gonna be a miracle if it survives even half the years Tekken 7 survived. It feels just like your usual mortal Kombat casual fest that dies in 6 months, kept on life support with dlc for around 1 year and then another game gets released and the cycle continues, with casuals getting farmed for millions of copies sold, 6 weeks later 95% of players are gone, those remaining get bought to stick around with dlc for around 1 year and then another game comes out, rinse and repeat. But Tekken 8 doesn't have the same release cycle. We can only pray Tekken 9 comes out in at AT LEAST the next 5 years if we are lucky. Yet the gameplay wasn't made to last long, it's all gimmicks and aggressive gameplay for casuals to have fun, not for the fun of players but casuals and people watching it. Even if it becomes the biggest and most watched evo game, who cares if nobody plays it? Such a weird decision, focusing entirely on the people watching and the casuals at the expense of the Tekken fans. Oh well, they will get a rough wake up when they see that the people they made the game for, play the story, a few matches of Tekken ball, around 20 hours of online play across 2-3 weeks and then go play rise of the ronin, final fantasy 7, Fortnite, call of duty, else ring dlc, silent hill 2 remake etc ... Casuals are fickle and drop games on a whim.

Ty for the content man! Short and straight to the point! For some reason I find electrics in full release version to be harder compared to demo. I was getting 3+ in a row somewhat consistently with Jin in the demo, but in full game I'm 1 or 2 frames late most of the time. Tekken noob trying to main Reina here, so take this with a grain of salt.

one tip i saw for hitting the electric (on gamepad at least): bind your left shoulder buttons to 2+4, and when you're doing the ewgf, use that button when you hit df. because it's easier to time it on one hand vs. both hands

I'm brand new to the Tekken series (just started with 8 because of Reina like everyone else lmao) and I've been trying to practice EWGFs, but the way I was inputting it was f df2, not f d df2 like in the video, yet it still came out as an electric. Am I doing the same thing or is this different? And just btw your voice is actually super great! It's like it was made for these kinda serious tutorial videos! Definitely jealous lmao

I advise you to memorize the rhythm of D3, 1. it is much easier to get it right like this than trying to get the timing of the kick on the ground right, try to make a sound with your mouth at the same time when using it, it helped me a lot

Can you do a part two where you show pewgf in combos, I'm having trouble connecting the 3rd pewgf in combos, but I can hit ewgf pretty consistently at 90%

Does anyone know the exact rules of Ondeko [2~1]? I was trying it today and my input reader looks pretty similar to what I'm seeing here, but I'm not getting the just frames. A few patterns appear in the video, like [2F, 2F, 5F] and [3F, 1F, 5F]. Trying it *right now*, I'm not getting it on [3F, 1F, 5F] or even on faster timings. But I AM getting it on [1F, 0F, 3F] and [1F, 0F, 1F], in other words when I use one finger and slide it across the buttons. Well, that appears to be the trick to it, so if you're having trouble, try actually sliding your input instead of plinking the buttons. I wasn't able to get any out reliably while I was plinking the inputs, even if I avoided the momentary 1+2 input (which appears valid in the video?) Note: if the first input is 2 for 1F and then 1+2 for 1F, I get 1+2 instead of Ondeko. Hope this helps someone else!

D3, 1 is pretty simple to do if you mash out 1 since you’re not going to accidentally mash into a different move. I didn’t even know it was just-frame, I just started pressing it until Reina did the animation

I don’t think you’re doing the Just frame input, but just the nornal D4, 1. Afaik it can’t be mashed. You need to check the difference in the animation, the Just frame one has the lightning coming down.

Someone give me an idea on how u get EWGF DOWN. IM on keyboard what i do to get the dash off is forward then down and forward together and the dash works. But i rarely get the lightning. Should I change how i do the dash?

The lightning only happens when you DF and 2 input happen on the exact same frame. Whether your input is fast or slow as long as DF+2 are on the same frame you’ll get the electric. I recommend going into practice mode and turning on command history, then having a look at if you’re too fast or too slow, and adjusting accordingly 👍

is the just f 2-1 actually an 11f punish?

I’m pressing forward then I try to press down while sliding to forward plus 2 at the same time and I get an “electric” but is not the full electric. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong HELP 😭

Its suuuper hard because its not actually an instant just frame, its a specific frame you have to hit the 1 on. So you have to do it rapidly but also with a slight delay 😂 On stick you can piano with the right timing but because of the way we do those inputs on pad its extremely difficult. Unless you claw

For the EWGF, it sounds like 3 inputs, when I thought it would be 2 since it says the down-forward needs to happen with punch. What are the mechanics for the input? Like are you supposed to hit down+forward+punch all at once in a single press, or are you sliding from down to forward like a normal motion input, pressing forward+punch at the end? I've seen a few videos demonstrating it and I still can't seem to get it.

The first sound is from the forward input, the second is from the down input, and the third is from down forward +2. It depends what controller you’re using but yeah basically you’re sliding from down to down forward, and the moment down forward is registered you press 2 on the same frame. Let me know how you go! 👍

The [2 , 1] input is honestly harder than ewgf for me. It feels like there's no way for me to hit those two buttons faster sometimes Strangely enough though, I land the just frame for that more often when doing it after something like CH ws2 or as a block punish. Which is when you'd wanna use the move anyway

I’d say just focus on EWGF, when your EWGF gets faster you’ll randomly do PEWGFs on accident anyway 😂, if you want to practice PEWGFs though I’d recommend doing it after CH HW1 or Kazuya’s CH DF2 👍

Shes pretty difficult, have you played previous Tekken games? If you have the basics down and decent movement, she’s not too bad, but she may be a little overwhelming with all the stances as well as being a Mishima.

Question are you a stick or pad player? Do you have any advice on inputting the EWGF on a stick and pad?

On pad it's better to press down and slide the thumb to the side instead of pressing the diagonal input

Keyboard at the moment but I’ve played a lot on both stick and pad. Pad feels faster but less precise, stick feels easier but harder to do quickly especially on P1. To be honest the best advice is to consistently practice, if you warm up every day with 5mins in practice mode you’ll get them consistent in a few weeks 👊

I didnt know Reina could shoot sparks with her palm strike! Holy crap! 😮 Does this change the frame data?

As long as DF and 2 are on the same frame, the electric will always come out (so long as the rest of the input is done correctly)

i still can't even wavedash consistently because even if my input is right in the input history, reina doesn't do the crouch dash. didn't have this issue with jin, but i have it with kaz, reina and djin... also i get a lot of d2 in my electrics :c

Reina is bugged.

I cant EWGF.. don't know why, but i get it once of 15-20 times or so from bouth sides.

So after discussing with other Reina players about 2~1, one of them (Kudos to you OfficeKitano) had the thought that the deal is not to press 2 for only one frame as I could read online or to be fast to imput 2~1 but to press 2 on the first frame available to you after recovering, either from your own move (it works after wr2 ch) or blockstun. If anyone can try for themselves and confirm it is the case, or find out something else, feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Interesting thought, but [2~1] still seems incredibly inconsistent with the just frame input, even when I press in on the same frame and the move comes out, no blue sparkles >_

The first section should be "D4,1" not "D3,1" for actual notation probably is D4:1

Neutral. You don't press anything. Forward, neutral, down, down-forward+2

Neutral, AKA “let go.” For example in this case it wants you press right, let go, then down+right 2. The let go part is the star. By letting go you are back to neutral, and as I said in the first sentence: star means neutral.

Coolest new character besides Victor

For some reason I couldnt get EWGF consistently even after watching this... you know what helped me? When I realized its the same input (almost) as RYU's Sho Ryuken 😂. In street fighter its instant from get up if you time it. Once I pretended I was doing a DP I could EWGF 90% of the time. Maybe this will help someone else...

If you played Virtua Fighter, it's similar to Akira's JFK. You need to land it frame 1. So slide your fingers across the 2 and 1 like super super fast. Edit: To make sure you get the timing right, turn on command history. If the 2 has a 1 next to it, you got the just frame.

I was too. Set the dummy to "Not stand" on wakeup and down him. You can only do it while the opponent is downed

It seems to only work as a punish or after the end lag of a previous move you did (including 2~1), not sure why. Try doing 2~1 then 2~1 immediately after and it should work on the 2nd one 👊

So far the EWGF makes no sense to me on a PS5 pad. It only seems to come out if I press 2 before I even hit D 🤣 Otherwise I'm always late by 1 frame.

@@hiraprxc D-pad is wonky and unreliable. Lever is more precise because you get more feedback. Same goes for the buttons on pad. Mechanical switches (especially Razer optical switches on the Kitsune) or Sanwa buttons are better.
