I really loved when Jin asked Jun if he can even desire life. He bears so much guilt from his past actions and thinks that the only way he can atone is through his death. But Jun tells him that his death also affects those he wants to protect, and that he shouldnt always put himself second. Jin finally deciding to LIVE for the people that matter and to accept his past actions to move forward were really well done

Jin should realize that death is not atonement. Choosing death would just leave the people that he had harmed to pick up the pieces themselves, that's no different from turning away from his own sins. By accepting to live carrying his sins, Jin can now truly atone for what he had done by doing good things. Whether he is forgiven or not, well, that's not for us to decide.

Not really, Kazuya's Tekken 5 ending heavily debunks the idea that Kazuya is just straight up evil, if it's not what Kazuya would have actually done in that ending then the ending shouldn't be in the game, we see Kazuya clearly show remorse towards Jinpachi, he clearly didn't want to kill his grandfather. Soon after that though you see his red eye glow and then he kills Jinpachi mercilessly. If that's not a hint that the devil gene was the cause then I don't know what is.

I like that we see in this deep down the motivations of Kazuya. He has an uncontrollable desire to prove that no one can hold him back. That’s where I feel like the hesitation at 7:16 hits home. Jin might be the reason the devil’s power was divvied up in T3 and T4, but even Kazuya believes that the Gene was a means to an end. Aside from that, Jin’s as much of a victim of the Mishima curse as him. If he hadn’t been dragged in, he would’ve likely minded his own business and stayed with Jun. A crack in the hard shell he fronts. I wish it had more nuance to it before and after, but perhaps this was a setup for Tekken 9, or story DLC.

I hope in the next game they'll show Jin trying to rectify the consequences of his choices throughout the past games, while also potentially passing the torch to a new protagonist. We really need one because although Jin has completed his redemption, it doesn't automatically absolve his guilt and undo the damages left behind. He's ruined his own integrity as a protagonist. Not to mention that he seems to have lost the Devil Gene, which was a huge part of his story. Lars was obviously designed for this, but I guess he wasn't received well enough to completely replace Jin.

He surely doesn’t care as he should after all kazuya feels like he is just another family member trying to kill him but that hesitation and that expression feels like he didn’t want to go all in. I also think that their devil forms will come back and they’re just stunned because of each other powers, maybe kazuya wanted it maybe to get rid of azazel. We surely know that is genetic and you cannot delete genes in a fist fight, we can see Jin still having the mark. Jin didn’t want to kill Kazuya in this bout as he was following his mother’s desire to save Kazuya, partially as he left Kazuya where he laid. He only wanted to incapacitate him to get him to stop. From Kazuya’s perspective he probably would’ve killed Jin by way of cliff as he does in the non canon ending, with him walking away it’s hard to tell but he probably thought he killed Jin, leading him to quote Heihachi as he did in Tekken 7 after killing Heihachi.

In Tekken 8 all of a sudden when they both lose their devil powers it's made pretty clear that Kazuya has the edge. I don't know what happened in the 2 or 3 years between Tekken 4 and Tekken 8 but either Jin was slacking off despite somehow keeping his muscular build, or Kazuya has just improved that much somehow.

@@trellwhitehurst6670 I won't deny that Kazuya was probably a lot weaker in Tekken 4 but Jin was also clearly exhausted and in pretty bad shape for that fight yet he still goes on to win against both Kazuya and Heihachi. Kazuya I understand but Heihachi as well? Jin must have been at least tired after the first fight on top of already waking up exhausted to start with. Also in Tekken 2 it's made clear that Kazuya was still training and keeping up the grind, despite Kazuya being more powerful than he would have been in Tekken 1 Heihachi manages to win. After Tekken 4 Heihachi then goes on to lose every fight he participates in until Tekken 7 when he wins a few times but still loses to Kazuya. All I'm saying is: most of the time characters just get more powerful out of nowhere in Tekken, it doesn't ruin the games or the story for me but it's just funny.

Mishima Style - Straightforward techniques, focuses on overpowering the opponent with brutal efficiency. Very aggressive hard style. Kazama Style - Graceful techniques that looks like a dance, possibly to throw off enemies with their unusual movements. Heavy focus on defense, hence its multiple parry and counter techniques, and a lot of evasive moves. A passive soft style. Together with his Karate, Jin, after accepting himself and all his parts, probably has the best arsenal of techniques, the perfect balance between offense and defense. Overwhelming power plus overwhelming technique.

As a fan of Tekken since T4,im so happy with the story mode in this game. Im not even a big fan of Jin but this game was needed to right the wrongs done to his character since t3 ended. Im not a big fan of the overdesigned Devil designs,so i was very happy that they "punched out" all the devil Gene/magic aspects and it ended in a brutal 1v1 duel between Kazuya and Jin. Maybe its cuz T4 was my first game in the series, but Kazuya has grown into one of my favorite villians in Gaming. Dude lost the Devil powers and said "So? That aint been nothing to me besides and extension of my power." My favorite moment is when Jin is having Flashbacks and you see Devil Jin fading Away, his Mother's warmth and Guidance, but the one that a really got me is when Ling's face appeared. Ling had kept her faith in Jin longer than anyone, and all Jin wanted to do was Live to see a Life with Ling Possible and that brought tears to my eyes.

Completely agree. T5 to 7 were very lackluster. But this story was engaging the whole way through and a more satisfying end to Jin's journey than I could have come up with.

Was certainly better than T7, although dialogue was pretty cookie cutter for most of the game. The Jin and Kaz fights have the most going on, but for an anime game they could have benefitted from a break in the fighting to give us a concrete picture of the characters. Instead we have to look at breadcrumbs and try to spin deeper meaning out of them. Still better than T7 though where Kaz and Hei have zero meaningful lines with each other. There is no resolution between the two on the betrayal and killing of Kazumi, that's the biggest thing for me. Did Kaz even know why Hei had to kill her? Did Hei keep information from him? Where did Kaz go after being thrown down the cliff? We got nothing out of that story besides them sitting in front of computer monitors.

Has anyone noticed that despite initially stating, "if you stand before me, you die. doesn't matter who you are," Kazuya's rhetoric shifted to "anyone who tries to dictate how I live will suffer for their transgressions!"? I believe this change signifies Kazuya's release from long-standing mental domination by the Devil Gene, regaining his human emotions while engaging in hand-to-hand combat with Jin immediately after losing their Devil powers. Additionally, I theorize that Kazuya, seeing his own relentless confrontations with Heihachi mirrored in his son Jin, and simultaneously feeling a stir of parental emotion, was unable to deliver a decisive blow to Jin. This is further supported by a later line where he acknowledges his son for the first time, suggesting a significant emotional shift. Undoubtedly, if the Devil had remained in Kazuya, Jin would have been defeated.

Kazuya's language also radically changes, he tries to intimidate instead of directly saying he's going to kill him. "If you stand before me, you die" is different from Kaz dialogue constantly being "it's time for you to meet your end!" or "shine!!!". For somebody who is supposed to be trying to kill Jin, he constantly holds back from delivering killing blows, instead he lands incapacitating shots and tries to disarm Jin and get him to quit. No charge up kill shots, no screaming about killing or vengeance, only "bro I already won bro stop fighting please"

9:05 I think the best part of this final battle is the way the camera sets up the two characters at each phase of the battle combined with the timing of the announcer saying "Fight!" for each phase. It's the same announcer we always hear, who is saying "Fight!" the same way he always does, but this fight is about Jin finally accepting himself and finding the will to live on in order to save himself and Kazuya. This is fight is as much a mental and spiritual battle as it is a physical battle, and as he keeps taking metaphorical steps forward the announcer is almost urging him forward at each phase. Jin is like "I've found a new way I want to live, but how can I prove it to myself and to Kazuya?" And the announcer sort of responds with what he's always been saying: "Fight!" The timing of it seems really poetic and is somehow really cathartic to me. Jin is taking a stand for everything he believes in and wants to take a step forward. And in the world of Tekken, if you want something, you gotta "Fight!"
