This is something I previously wanted them to make for a while, but I've now gotten a SP-404 mk2, so it nolonger makes sense for me.

Makes sense. The SP-404 can do much more.
Good start, I'm interested to see where you go with this. I'm thinking of getting one to replace my rd-8 because even though I love how it sounds it's to big and I'm never going to get everything out of it. This seems like it could be and interesting replacement.

Seems limited, but in a good way, if that makes sense. Samplers tend to be a bit on the quirky side in general, so this being so isn't a let down. I'm seeing nothing but positive reviews with some warnings on the quirks of the unit. I'm now getting interested in one
