This is my favorite from presence. Robert playing that harmonica. It just makes the song. He slams it good job silas.

You might want to say, something along the lines of: "The more that I listen to them, the clearer that it becomes why, nearly everybody says that Led Zeppelin were the greatest band..."

Silas, where you said Jimmy Page does it again was actually a harmonica solo by Robert. He played that thing like nobody's business while Page supported him with backing guitar. It's one of my favorite Zep moments (of many.)

Thank you my friends....why Robert gave it up is a complete mystery to. I've heard many play this instrument in Rock and Blues over the years but NONE better than Plant Peace & Love

And just another example of why to me they are the greatest band ever.

Nobody's fault but Zeppelin's for this eargasm. That was actually Plant on harmonica that was killing the solo. Of all the accolades that Zeppelin has one you rarely hear about is Plant's great harmonica playing but he's something else on it. Probably my favorite song off this album. I love that start and stop rhythm and the harmonizing guitar that phases in at the beginning with the vocals. Great stuff!

Robert sure could play the harmonica, and Jimmy played the same notes on the guitar, just one helluva song, but I give "Achilles Last Stand" the edge, it was so far ahead of its time, but in all honesty, I love them both equally, along with "Tea for One".

Ozzy has a pretty good Harmonica too - if you watch "The Wizard" REHEARSAL video from their reunion tour sessions you can see he's still got it!

Been a Zep fan for over 40 years and it's impossible to say what's my fav or what's the best. Just keep rockin, young man! I love seeing you get blown away by "oldies" music. My father's music sucks so I'm glad to know my music will live forever! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

The first solo is Plant on harmonica!

"Nobody's Fault but Mine" was first recorded by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927. Nina Simone released an updated version of the song in 1969 that favored the emotional fatalism of the lyrics over its traditional gospel message. Led Zeppelin ups the voltage considerably in their heavy psychedelic blues rock take on the song. Fire!

Hearing a Led Zep song for the first time is usually some sort of magical experience. This song was that for me, 45 years ago now....

I heard this in the summer of 1976 floating in the swimming pool at Gregg's house when I was 14. It is timeless!

I was 13 when Physical Graffiti came out...that was my “gateway album” to Zep. 😁 Presence came out the next year and I remember being slightly (emphasis on slightly) disappointed, as PG was arguably their best and I was spoiled! 😂That first solo, as someone mentioned above, is Plant on harmonica. Great to see a youngster enjoying this music so many years later! It’s truly timeless. Looking forward to more of your reactions! 👍

The song is about heroin addiction. "Gong" is an old term for opium..."Monkey on my back" is a term for addiction. Page was using heroin in these years and Bonham was sinking into alcoholism.

They are all obviously on the same wavelength here!

The live version from the O2 is great. By this point in the concert they were relaxed and having fun. Lots of grins back and forth. And they were SO tight!

One of the great finshes too, the last two minutes is especially brilliant.

The angst the band shows in this track is real....a mirror of the turmoil in the band during this period of time.

Yet another great cover from the cover kings of rock.

There's actually a killer live version of this that I heard at a local Blues festival some years ago. (it's the only time I ever heard it) Really great, not that this one is bad.

This is one of the fun songs to play on guitar, not too hard for an amateur guitar player like me.

"Scat" is a term for using the human voice to mimic a musical instrument, in unison. It was commonly used in early jazz and blues music. Then by others. The jazz and blues styles are the ealiest sources that I am familiar with. But I am not an expert on this by any means.

Might be my favorite Zep track.

Just wish this tune was a minute or 2 longer.

Never play that while driving a car - you'll crash and burn 😅 But you see, how important pauses are. Nowadays music has forgotten about it.

It makes me laugh that young reactors have trouble identifying a harmonica lol Presence is a brilliant album, underrated. This is the probably the best track. Other faves are Achilles Last Stand, For Your Life and Tea For One

Changing time signatures.....sadly doesn't seem to exist with modern music anymore....I know there are some contemporary rock bands out there like Greta Van fleet but this level of virtuosity is being lost and even killed by the omnipresent overuse of auto tune and sequencers these days..... anyway glad some of the kids are still able to appreciate REAL music still...good reaction my dude.... just one thing tho It's Robert Plant on harmonica for the solo with JP filling in the gaps for once 🔥👍🤞

Honestly…different time, different attitudes on 50 year old songs that had all but disappeared. By today’s ethics….not good. By the ethics of the time….nobody thought anything of it. So I can’t find fault with them for it

@@79BlackRose Fair question, but no; I’m biased because I was a young adult at that time and I know what the culture was like. What the ethics were. And one of my pet peeves is people with today’s sense of what’s acceptable looking into history and judging people of a different time by today’s standards. So I bristle when that whole issue comes up….not merely with Zeppelin. At that time…those old blues songs were thought of much like folk music was…..part of the black culture. I’m sure Plant knew Blind Willy Johnson. He listened to his music. I’m also sure that (rightly or wrongly) they figured that Johnson had probably heard it from some other black blues player, as those old blues songs were sung by allot of black blues men with variations added by each musician. They were English, so came from an old folk tradition where songs were just part of the culture, and I think they looked at blues that way …..as kind of the folk music of southern black culture. So I give Zeppelin and other bands from that period a pass. (you know that many bands borrowed from the blues, right? Zeppelin just had the most money and the most fame…..they were not unique at all in what they did. As Robert Plant said when introducing this song at the 2007 O2….”everybody nicks it”.). . I don’t think they it with evil intent. In any case, they were a product of the time and culture they lived in. As are we all. And yes, I’m a BIG fan. 😁. But it’s not Zep I’m defending, I’m rather condemning the judging of past people by today’s standards. ✌️

You mentioned that old blues songs were thought of much like folk music was. An example of this is "Whisky In The Jar" which was hundreds of years old and covered by Thin Lizzy in 1972. The three band members did not try and give the impression that this was an original piece of music they created. Rather, they noted that it was "Trad." and that their contribution was an "Arr." Thin Lizzy were also a product of their time and the culture they lived in. So, do not make the mistake that just because Jimmy Page and Robert Plant nicked it, everyone did so. You will find they credited the specific writers of the guitar parts they used in the instrumental section of "Black Rose" in 1979. Phil Lynott and Gary Moore were not going to steal the intellectual property of other artists. As for their intent, how can you possibly know what was in their mind?

Because of that, I try to err on the side of not judging other people’s motivations and try giving them the benefit of the doubt. Therefore, For me, it does not detract from the benefit of their musical gifts to posterity. For you, it does.

Interesting how you refer to "Nobody's Fault But Mine" as "the fourth song on the album Presence". As someone who bought the vinyl album at age 14 when it first came out, I will always think of this song as "track one on side two". And although we're both technically correct, here's evidence that we're all a product of a generation. Regardless, it's awesome to see someone listening to and appreciating Led Zeppelin 40+ years following their breakup. Rock on dude!!!
