When I was in high school, I was assaulted by my boyfriend at the time while I was unconscious. A friend of mine came in and stopped it after a few minutes, and she and everybody else at the party knew exactly what happened. Nobody said anything and every time I brought it up, it was always “well, you guys were dating so what’s the issue”. I didn’t realize until I was in my 20’s that what happened to me was actually assault and not just something that happens with boyfriends sometimes. It’s crazy to think about how teenagers can just let things slide with “friends”.

I agree with you Keira. The 1 and only reason this case was finally solved was bc of the DNA obtained 26yrs later when this monster tried to kill his son (a Felony). Why is it that DNA is taken Only if the crime is a Felony? Why can’t DNA also be taken for all Misdemeanor crimes that involve violence ? Isn’t it logical that a person who murders someone will most likely have a history of violence ? If DNA had previously been taken for just one violent Misdemeanor, then it wouldn’t have taken 26 more years to solve this case (and many more other cold murder cases). Idk….?

These young women are eighteen or over and they are adults, not kids. Eighteen is considered a adult and just because they are young adults doesn’t give them a free pass to kill. Just like the young man killing his girlfriend. If a young adult can go off for a get away with a young group of friends then their definitely a adult because they no longer need parent supervision. Young adults know right from wrong but choose not to follow the law doesn’t make them even less guilty than a old adult.

It sickens me. Domestic Violence between High School age couples is becoming a common thing anymore. I can't believe that between the the 1960's and now, there has been such a change in people's ( Adult & Children) threshold for violence. It's insane. These young adults are so desensitized to violence that they have no inhibitions about acting in inappropriate ways, in many area's. Parents see this on the regular, as well as hear about these type of situations from their kids. I'm a Grandma to 16 now. We, as a family, are always watching for ANY type of extreme behavior in any kids we know are interacting with our kids. DV has become more than epidemic in a huge percentage of home, normalizing violent behavior towards anyone in the family. We really noticed this trend begin in the last two generations of young adults. It's a subject that needs much research and programs within the schools, but especially at home, that address red flags and totally cutting off interaction with people who have no boundaries. The earlier the better.

Talking about domestic violence in schools is SO IMPORTANT. If I was provided with something such as the PAVE program to educate me when I was a child, I would have understood that I was in an abusive relationship at 14. Studies actually show that domestic violence is very common in couples under 18 years, but there isn’t much education provided to minors. I believe that educating children will prevent young men from becoming abusive grown men, & will educate young women on red flags to look out for while dating. It is no victims fault. Education/ resources can do wonders.

I think the pain would be so great, so intense that you would actually prefer to have died, too. In my 37 years, I have *never* been able to understand how mother's of murdered children find this amazing strength within themselves to go on. I literally cannot imagine a pain in this world worse than losing a child, let alone losing them to such depravity, violence, and brutality.

This kid is already showing signs of hostility towards women. This is a learned behavior. It wouldn't take much for Natalie to anger him, as he clearly thinks of women as inferior. He may have made a sexual advance and was rejected. Isn't that what it usually is? These type males feel a strong sense of entitlement. The judge needs his head examined. This kid has a history of violence. As for Ziegler, I saw part of his trial on CourtTV. He's a monster! He claimed he had a sexual relationship with the mother and she hadn't washed the sheets! He's trash! Not that there is a motive for killing a child, but, why did he target them?

Being rebuffed is sometimes a reason, but mean assault, abuse, stalk, and kill for power and control. Whether you turn them down, leave them, don’t do what they want, or for no action on the victims end, at all. Abusers want power and control. What’s more power and control than taking the life of the victim. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 👉 72% of all murder-suicides involve an intimate partner🥰 & 94% of the victims of these…are female In DV prevention, advocacy, education, and policy, we teach about the Power and Control Wheel. Google that if you are ever interested. It makes a lot of sense. And it’s a learned behavior in the sense that people learn things in our societies, but an abuser can grow up in a totally non-abusive home & still become a absolute monster of an abuser. 👉A startling 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence *each year*, & 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence. Sadly, the stats are that 👉1 in 4 women have been victims of severe physical violence (e.g. beating, burning, strangling) by an IP in their lifetime. 👉Homicide is the leading cause of death in pregnant women-they are more likely to be murdered than they are to die by any obstetric cause-and firearms are a massive contributing factor. 👉A firearm in the home raises the risk of death by >500% 👉All women are more likely to die at the hands of their intimate partner or former intimate partner-than by anyone else, with more than 50% of women who victims of homicide being murdered by their bf, husband, or ex. 👉Further, 1 in 4 women are victims of severe IPV, IP sexual violence or stalking by an IP…& that number is vastly higher in some places, more than others. I’m sure you can guess why. 👉For example, in Oklahoma, 41% of women will be victims of DV in their lifetime. 👉More than 80% of Native women report being victims of IPV and it just goes on and on. Sorry that got longer than I intended. 💜💜💜 In solidarity!!!
