TEDxWomen -- Gloria Steinem and Salamishah Tillet

Gloria Steinem is a writer, lecturer, editor, and feminist activist who talks about the aging process as becoming more like ourselves. She reflects on her own process of aging, her writing, stereotypes, biases and the feminist movement. She is joined by Salamishah Tillet, a feminist activist, academic and writer.
TEDxWomen was curated and produced by The Paley Center for Media. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Men should raise the children too. I agree. Some of the men in my life and growing up would hate Gloria Steinem. There are still a lot of ignorance today as well.

Forget reading the comments section. I'll just take my education, birth control, freedom of speech and continue moving along the train of choice. It's a lot more rewarding that keeping my hands in flour all day.

Sarah James girl yes. They mistake empathy and kindness for weakness and hate us for that. If we show strength they hate us for that too. Our job is to not care about men's opinions of our place in the world and just do what makes us happy. If that makes them sad and angry, who cares?

As far as third wave feminism goes, all they've done is taken away human rights from men. So basically the do Jack sh**. 3rd wave feminism is not needed and you know it!

Great speech. I especially agree with the balance in relationships, therefore empowering women to gain self esteem, respect and having the freedom to get an education. As a result, blossoming into confident women and being good role models for their daughters.

Remembering a woman who is still living?! It seems imminently important to distinguish our lives by cognizantly saying: 'remembering a woman's accomplishments...'

This woman is vague in her assertions.. “there is no gender” is the basis for women today saying or coming up with toxic masculinity.. if men and women are the same as she asserts then why is masculinity toxic..

It's good to see someone familiar here, Marcara081. We're in the lion's den or lioness's den, all alone. Try to help feminists here understand the hate that comes out of them. Ha! Women sure know how to live in fantasy worlds, with walls built by denial. Accountability and responsibility is like the devil to these women and their warped worlds.

Mrs gloria steinem " A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." After saying this she got married. I guess the fish does need the bicycle. Gloria the CIA operative Admirer of the man hating Andrea Dworkin But she did help 2nd wave feminism which was needed so she did do some good. Her support of the poisonous 3rd wave feminism is disapointing.

It's all about "choice." Don't have to "need" to love and marry. As a matter of fact, much healthier not to "need."
