I met Brad when I was twelve (that's twelve years ago), told him I wanted to be a writer. He gave me his email address and has been mentoring me ever since. I owe a lot to Brad Meltzer. He's not just a dedicated author and a smart guy, he's a fine human being.

Winner of a video, I have been researching "who usually does the eulogy at a funeral?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Yanaleb Fenllie Takeover - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my co-worker got amazing results with it.

For several years now, as I have grown older, I have read the obits regularly, wondering what mine will say. I have even researched writing my own, but after seeing this talk I have decided to quit worrying about it. Just live your life the best that you can and that's what you'll be remembered for. That's what I think I have done, and know that I will continue to do.

Brad, you have my standing ovation. You have taken my mind on quite the journey. You have given words to a concept that has been a campus in my life. You can be sure I will make reference to your words for decades on. Brad, you have my standing ovation.

This was a Stephen Covey lecture that I attended as part of an executive workshop 23 years ago, and it's also in his book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Many people have copied it since. Begin with the ending in mind was the title. You were instructed to visualize your own funeral and want people said about you, and then write your own obituary. The subject was creating your legacy.

Have you ever asked yourself, 'Why are we (society) so obsessed about our legacy? About who will remember us?' Millions if not Billions have come before us and will come after us...and 99.99% have been forgotten. Focus on living, not on what you'll be remember for. p.s., GREAT TALK by Brad!!!!

This video definitely made me think... I don't want an obit I want those who knew me to only remember the me they knew not what some family or friend decides to write. Who I am to them isn't who I would be to each person listening/reading that obit
