This song is impossible for me to get through without crying. I’ve been there . After 27 years of marriage my husband went through his “midlife crisis “ I guess and then when he “ woke up “ . He spent the rest of our life eating himself to death with guilt which was awful to see and died 3 years ago . But I remember feeling this emotion and asked “ at least give me the dignity to leave . Give me a heads up , just don’t blind side me “. Turns out when I got sick he realized what he was looking for he already had . I got better but he didn’t . You young folks ? Listen: whether your in a long term relationship or a marriage have the common respect to tell your partner you’re unfulfilled. There’s no easy way to do it but it’s best to be honest . I was married ultimately 42 years . I miss him dearly and I know he loved me . I saw his fear when I became sick but the guilt that ate him up was not good. I’m not cruel . It hurt me to see him short change himself bc of guilt . It became the unspeakable thing we didn’t speak of but ever present. For those of you who are fearful that you’re spouse or mate might leave ( most absolute fear) .. as much as it hurts you’ll be ok . It does hurt . I’m not sure what was worse though . My fear or his guilt that consumed the remainder of our marriage and his life . I really miss him . Do the right thing even if it hurts though . It’s always best . 42 years went by in a blink . ☮️
