@Danny overhands ARE a variety of a hook. Not really trained when running the basics to a rookie- it's jabs, crosses, uppercuts, & hooks. 4 punches. Whatever variation you're thinking of, its of those 4 legal punches in Boxing. A power jab is still a jab.

I love when teddy atlas said tyson needed to make him throw the jab... I've been boxer over 20 years and in my teens when I was competing heavy my favorite thing to do was spsr round after rounds sometimes up too 30 rounds of scarring with different sparring partners and I learned on my own even without my trainer learning that too me who is my favorite trainer ice ever had including Joe Cortez, doc brodus, Bob foster and Michael carbajol, and it was to set traps by luring and making other boxers throw certain punches so I could counter or catch them if I noticed there hands dropping after throwing certain punches

One of my old coaches would have someone hold a pinky ball or tennis ball against their face with the left hand. Often when you "just" practice holding the left hand at your ear you don't realize the left hand has dropped. This way if you were practicing alone at home or your coach was watching someone else, the ball would drop on the ground and you knew you were making the error.

He's always 100% right and shows phenomenal workouts for boxers, this specific workout is good for fighters that use the conventional up n down or peek a boo type defense on the other hand it wouldn't be as good of a workout for any fighter that uses the shoulder roll or "Philly shell" because on defense that right hand will move on both sides of your head.. It still is a great workout for all boxing styles even the shoulder roll just not as effective for that specific defense
