@Danny overhands ARE a variety of a hook. Not really trained when running the basics to a rookie- it's jabs, crosses, uppercuts, & hooks. 4 punches. Whatever variation you're thinking of, its of those 4 legal punches in Boxing. A power jab is still a jab.

I was born in '80. I've been watching boxing since then. Then '93 rolls around and this little thing called the ufc started, so we got into that....been a fight fan my ENTIRE life....no one and I mean no one has the info like Teddy does. I absolutely love the guy

Some nostalgic people talk about the 80´s and the 90´s being better times in everything, and I agree, I´m a 90´s guy and I can relate to that, but I also thanks the 2000´s for the existence of KZread and having the opportunity to learn from a legendary trainer like Teddy Atlas is.

I love when teddy atlas said tyson needed to make him throw the jab... I've been boxer over 20 years and in my teens when I was competing heavy my favorite thing to do was spsr round after rounds sometimes up too 30 rounds of scarring with different sparring partners and I learned on my own even without my trainer learning that too me who is my favorite trainer ice ever had including Joe Cortez, doc brodus, Bob foster and Michael carbajol, and it was to set traps by luring and making other boxers throw certain punches so I could counter or catch them if I noticed there hands dropping after throwing certain punches

One of my first trainers started me out with my right hand blocking all the way up to the top of my head because he knew natural digression would lower it down to wear it should be.

One of my old coaches would have someone hold a pinky ball or tennis ball against their face with the left hand. Often when you "just" practice holding the left hand at your ear you don't realize the left hand has dropped. This way if you were practicing alone at home or your coach was watching someone else, the ball would drop on the ground and you knew you were making the error.

He's always 100% right and shows phenomenal workouts for boxers, this specific workout is good for fighters that use the conventional up n down or peek a boo type defense on the other hand it wouldn't be as good of a workout for any fighter that uses the shoulder roll or "Philly shell" because on defense that right hand will move on both sides of your head.. It still is a great workout for all boxing styles even the shoulder roll just not as effective for that specific defense

The man who taught me to box had a wicked left hook, battle tested in the GG. I quickly learned not to drop my right when jabbing. And how to reset a broken nose…😎 I have had to have a go a few times in the street and one of the first things I check is my cover.

My trainer used to put a leaf in between my right glove and my head and another one between my left shoulder and my chin. Then he’d have me move around the ring. For the first 2 months that’s all I did. Never threw a punch for 2 whole months

He's always 100% right and shows phenomenal workouts for boxers, this specific workout is good for fighters that use the conventional up n down or peek a boo type defense on the other hand it wouldn't be as good of a workout for any fighter that uses the shoulder roll or "Philly shell" because on defense that right hand will move on both sides of your head.. It still is a great workout for all boxing styles even the shoulder roll just not as effective for that specific defense

My trainer used to put a leaf in between my right glove and my head and another one between my left shoulder and my chin. Then he’d have me move around the ring. For the first 2 months that’s all I did. Never threw a punch for 2 whole months
