Ted DiBiase is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. Definitely top 5 heels ever imo. The Million Dollar Man persona was perfect. It was always so heartbreaking to hear Animal tell stories about this time. He was not only Hawk's brother more than most blood siblings every could be, he was sort of Hawk's caregiver later on. The Road Warriors were like the Fonz in the sense that they could never really be anything other than a tag team. Animal knew that, and knew that whether they both kept making a living started and ended with Hawk, because the life he was living at any given time determined whether they worked or didn't. And Hawk, like all out of control addicts, became horribly selfish by then, and was very vocal that he didn't need anyone if they weren't on board with how he was living his life. And no matter how hard Animal tried to be Hawk's caregiver, there was no controlling Hawk by then. So Animal had to watch helplessly while Hawk destroyed literally the last 25% of their career, either walking out on his own, or getting the team released. Hawk killing their first WWE run was the worst, because they were red hot when Hawk tanked them in 1992. Just watch that 92 Summerslam match. They were so over, even with that damn puppet. They would have worked on top another few years.

Money Inc. winning the belts from the L.O.D was one of the strangest and most convoluted angles the WWF ever did. It happened at a non televised house show. What they they said on TV was that Dibiase paid off the officials to take the place of Earthquake and Typhoon who were supposed to challenge the Road Warriors that night. Earthquake and Typhoon were said to know nothing about this. Quake and Typhoon's manager Jimmy Hart betrayed them by arranging the deal with Money Inc. This turned Earthquake and Typhoon babyface and made them the top challengers to Money Inc. What really happened in Denver as reported by the dirt sheets was that Earthquake and Typhoon interfered in the match and cost Hawk and Animal the belts. Afterward the heels all celebrated together so they were all in on it. It was a few days later on TV that the WWF came up with this story. The fans in attendance that night in Denver had to be really confused in the aftermath.

They were the better team who had drew houses for Vince and could make other teams while protecting their gimmick . They had paid their dues and were a very productive and loyal duo to WWF . You can compare it to matches were wrestlers indeed were completey lights out because of drugs, good examples are of course Jake Roberts in the 90's, the Jeff Hardy - Sting match or for example, because i just saw it recently, the WWF Show at the Royal Albert Hall in 1991, were Kerry von Erich is so strung out on drugs, you can literally smell the fumes through the screen. And they can't properly work, they screw up even simple things, are slow, react slow and their eyes tell the whole story. I don't see that with Hawk at Summerslam at all.
