I saw Ted on GCW and Mid South in the early eighties and it was awesome. The realism is what captured the fans imagination. It took great skill to get the people emotionally involved and I never seen it happen as well as the Von Erich's could do it. Grown women crying their eyes out because they thought those guys were hurt.

Literally right below this video, on my feed, there's a video titled "8 times iron claw movie lied to you"

I am not convinced that Fritz forced his kids to be wrestler but I can believe he drove them hard to succeed once they joined in the business . Kevin and Kerry both said that Fritz stood no chance of talking them out of being wrestlers . They idolized Fritz and they were determined to make him proud within the business .

Good observation. When the tragedies started it was big bad Fritz, but in reality it was the only life they knew, just like Ted went in after his Dad did not want him too and all of the others that did the same thing. With the success Fritz had it would have to be a tremendous desire of those boys to be that way too. Looking at Kerry's personality he probably needed to wrestle, he may not have been a good fit in the business world in a lot of instances.

I know Ted DiBiase wrestled in Dallas at least once at big Reunion Arena shows. It was a Fritz promotion. I think it was 1981. I guess you wouldn’t exactly say he worked FOR him.

Ted was of the Von Erichs Generation, as a Kid in the late 70's with no internet, I researched and learned of wrestlers past like Gorgeous George, Thesz, Roller and all the greats before my time, when an interviewer says I did not know about whoever, it tells me they are not wrestling fans, If WWE and WCW is al you know, Google, It is not just for Porn.

Most everybody who worked for Bill Watts in Mid South had worked for Fritz at one time or another--almost as if World Class was a sub-territory of Mid South the way Houston was. I always wondered why DiBiase, Dr Death, and Duggan never did., so this explained that at least for Ted. Things were done a lot differently in WCCW, though, and I don't think I would have wanted to work for Fritz, either

Up until the end of 1985 or so Fritz & Watts would regularly exchange talent, with the likes of JYD, DiBiase & Magnum TA showing up on World Class cards, while Kerry Von Erich, Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez & others would show up in Mid -South

@@mrpink99 Yeah, I remember Kerry and Kevin making appearances to challenge Ted DiBiase for the North American title that year, so that was what made me think they were a sub-territory at the time like Houston. But again---not everyone did, and there was never once a Doctor Death sighting at the Sportatorium

World Class was never a sub territory of Mid South. Texas had 4 separate territories. Mid South consisted of 4 Fly over states. So you are really going to compare OKC and Tulsa to DFW. We have 8 million people now and had 3 million in the 80’s. Tulsa and OKC don’t even have that now.

David wanted very much to be a wrestler, and he was heir apparent to running the business too. He also was a horse rancher and was preparing for life after wrestling. Dave had a good head on his shoulders by all accounts.

Everyone is really down on Mike. But he was just starting out and had no experience, his three older brothers were at the top of the food chain and many guys would never reach their level, but in time as he gained size and experience he would have been ok for the territory but the tragedies struck.

Bit of a double stand here. DiBiase always praises Bill Watts who almost everyone else says was a bully and he pushed his untalented son Erik The three eldest von Erichs had talent

These guy have no clue about the Von Erich’s. Chris was the youngest and wanted to be a wrestler. Mike wanted to be a musician and do video production. Ted still has no idea how over the Von Erich’s were in Texas. David also wrestled in Florida and St. Louis.

Gino Hernandez died in world class wrestling also chris Adams went crazy.

I thought that as well, very disappointed! Growing up watching and knowing the Von Erich's history, way too much was glossed over or left out! It would have been done showcased as a 8 part Netflix series!

Ted has no idea what sort of grind some of today’s young stars run. Why, poor Will Overspray is only getting about $5,000,000 a year from the Khan Family Trust. Poor guy has to fly from jolly old England to work tv a few times a month. (insert the sinister Million Dollar Man laugh here)

Host guy takes a film that didnt even have the decency to consult Kevin Von Erich for accuracy at total face value. He needs to listen to some relevant interviews for a change. And "different takes" on a person is the whole point of being a human being. Its nothing unheard of.

Fritz never made them be wrestlers and the movie is just a movie creative license. not really how Fritz was.

Pretty stupid video if you ask me. I mean, DiBiase straight up admits he never knew Fritz and never worked for him. He's just aping things he's heard from other people, and drawing conclusions based on the family's tragedies.

Sorry Ted..but I think telling your kids that they are going to be wrestlers is still better than raising your kid(s) to become fraudsters. I'm sure you taking fees from all of those churches set a great examples for a future fraudster. Talking at churches should be considered fraud too.

I think that the boys were mentally slow and on drugs , that said , didn’t your kids steal a shitload of money from your state ? I think you are judging fritz to harshly never having met him .

I was under the impression Fritz didn't like Dory Funk Sr. (and Joe Blanchard for that matter) and vice versa. I would think that had as much to do with Ted not working for Fritz as Ted was an Amarillo wrestling guy. Ted wrestled for a good 4-5 years before the Von Erich brothers was even a thing. "Fritz was mean to his kids" seems kind of lame when he had plenty of years to go there.
