In this video, we take this pair of Tecova cowboy boots from casual style to work boot ready. We ditch the leather soles and fit them with a new pair of rugged Vibram rubber soles and heels. We also take a look at the insides of this pair of Tecova boots to see how they are constructed.

Yall should make a compilation of all the cork spreading, you'll get 1 million views just from the AMSR crowd. It's honestly so satisfying to watch and hear. That sizzle of the iron, the smooth surface left behind... Lovely.

Yeah...I see videos of people using up scrap sheet cork or hammering full pieces of sheet cork into the depression and tears away the excess. You're not going to convince me one isn't any better than the other.

@@TrentonHeath Are one of you more generous with the cork than the other or have you pretty much got that down? I agree with the cork and iron thing ThrowingItAway mentioned being relaxing, but a whole video on cork spreading (sounds like an SNL bit) might be too much.

Ahhhhhhhhhh
For anyone wondering, Tecovas makes the Bandera, cowboy boot with a vibram work boot / rubber sole. I love mine, though they are round toe only at this point, I'm guessing this guy wanted the square toe style specifically. I once worked with a guy who had work soles put on a pair of mexican alligator boots, this video brought back that memory and gave me a chuckle.

I just bought a pair of Tecova vibram sole work boots with a square toe. They are great.
Luv watching true craftsmanship 😊
Awesome! Love the blue stitching on the soles to match the shaft. Looks amazing.
I click on Trenton & Heath videos faster than party girls go to The Stage on Broadway.

Hey guy. Just to let you know. My buddies and I watch all of your videos. All the way through. Lol this is a new hobby for me. Keep up the good work!
The second I got these boots I had this idea. I’m waiting to wear through my soles first but happy to see how this turned out

I have been subscribed for a while and lurked even longer. I don't even care about boots and shoes, but I am a huge fan for masters of their craft. That being said, I now take pride in my boot, shoe and even leather coat care.

Thanks for the detailed explanation about the welt change out - I thought the original was in great shape but once you explained those double stitches, that would have been tricky.👍

Probably motorcycle riding boots.
With a double row stitched welt, if they were my boots I think I'd've opted for a leather sole with a Vibram half sole stitched. But, his needs might be such that the rubber sole promotes longevity in the environment he'll wear them in. Nice to see that level of quality in a shelf stocked boot. You fellers did that boot justice with that remake. And, yup, love my Napa Creme.

I love my Tecova boots, thanks for the video.
Yay the oatmeal is here!, Great video as always. 👏👏👏
I gotta admit, I was skeptical at first but they actually look better with the rubber soles! Awesome job fellas!
That’s a nice-looking boot. Great job, guys.
Awesome, that blue stitching is cool.
Thanks gentlemen for another great video. Really love the new resoles. I may buy me some Tecovas after watching this video. Have a great weekend. Thanks again.

love how they came out.👌👌
Great Jon on converting these Tecova's to work boots
I was thinking of putting a vibram mini lug on my goat tecovas! This video let me know that’ll look just fine and to go to you guys when I need it done
Very impressive work, great video.
Those came out great. My kinda boot 🥾
Man, I really like those! I have two pair of the same Thursday Desperados. I think the ones I'm knocking around with I'll have that done to them when the time comes.
I'm interested in mens sandals, excited to see what you'll have. Great video.
Turned out great
I have two pairs of Tecovas and I absolutely love them.

Never been a fan of the Tecova boots. I will still watch the videos cause I like these guys.
it's always a great video when the canned cork is opened :)
So AMAZING 😻
Fascinating!
I have that exact pair of boots how funny. Looks great. Very cool Conversion. I have another pair that I use for work that are much more heavy duty but this is interesting
Thanks for the reply. I love Tecovas. I have 4 pair and they have been great. I hear negative comments sometimes from old school Lucchese fans, but I think Tecovas are every bit as good. Love your videos and watching the craftsmanship. Best Wishes.

I own 2 pairs of Tecovas Dean and they're some fine looking boots. Right after I purchased them, I had a cobbler put Vibram sole protectors on the leather soles. These are some high quality boots in my opinion.
Great work. Now that’s a pair of cowboy boots I would wear.

Gorgeous!!!
Hi, I love your channel and the work you do. I learn a lot just watching your videos. I have a question: what do you do with the leather blocks, cork and anything you remove? Does it get recycled and reused? Thanks.
Such craftsmen !! Well done..... ~~
I have the same pair or “Docs” Tecovas. They are made of Bison. I can see where they might want a little better sole. My boots are gorgeous with leather soles and wear the 2-3 times a week to work. Absolutely love them.
they look really nice indeed, great work,

THANK YOU! Cowboy boots are all I wear and this is exactly what I do to boots with leather bottoms. I have yet to find anyone that can do a good job though. Mainly Lucchese boots though. How much would this job normally cost so I can compare to what I am being charged?
A double cork video!!! Thank you. 😃
Artistas practicing their craft . From gentleman’s boots to man’s boots. Terrific job fellers.
Painting the nails black to blend in with the new sole, amazing attention to detail.
I like the after look a lot better! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wonderful work guys. Question, I bought a new pair of boots, ( Tecovas Midland’s), and their rubbing the top of toes/ feet. Will the boots eventually stretch out and not hurt as much?

What kind of balm was that? I make leather wallets and I’m always looking for good natural products to use on them. Guys your content is awesome!!!!! My grandfather was a shoe maker in PA. So it’s really interesting to me.
100% YES 🙌
I guarantee there are some folks out the that would have just glued on the rubber sole to the existing leather. I appreciate your craftsmanship!

First of all, great job as always. You were doing a welt race there. Secondly, for as well as these are made, the price is incredibly reasonable. There wasn't one thing I saw when you pulled them apart that wasn't top quality in materials and construction.
He could have gotten the exact same boot with a rubber sole for the same price he got these for. BUT the oem sole on the other one is much heavier. You guys put a quality sole on it that's much lighter than the other pair sold by Tecovas. Good Job
I want boot like thst but with crape wedge sole! Im a project superintendent need to look sharp here in TX but need comfort
I have an old pair of hiking boots with Vibram soles from the 70s and the problem is the soles have separated would getting them resoled be worth the cost thank you I enjoy watching your program
Question for you. Have you ever worked on Silver bull boots? Just wondering what you think of them. I do own a pair and I like how it is leather on the out side and inside. The sole is a bit odd though as the very back of the heel is lower then the rest of the heel. My understanding in why it is that way is to make it last longer as that is usually what wears out first.
Nice work 👍🏽
Is there any part of the process you guys just hate doing? Or parts that you love more than others? Just curious. Love all the content!
Glad that you clarified that you didn’t mean to match. Haha 😂
Awesome video guys, I’m hooked 😃. Btw any advice on stretching Thursday boots? Length wise they’re good it’s just the height on the toe that’s a issue. Thanks gents! 🙏

Great job on these boots! I like them a lot. Leather soles on cowboy boots are good and bad. You must determine the purpose. I have a nice pair for church. I have an Ariat work boot version for ranch work, mud, and general purpose working conditions. Lots of rubber and grip. Rubber soles will not work for the dance floor. Leather? You will do well.
Good morning guys. Even though the both of you wearing polos wasn't planned it was a good look for summer . Maybe work polos with a Potter and Sons logo isn't such a bad idea. Have a great weekend . 🙂

We’ll have to think about that
Tecova is a very good brand. My son has a pair of work boots from them.
Hi Trenton & Heath, I want to ask if u guys have any hacks for old shoes to give them another life. Let's say an old light brown shoes can be recolor using black shoe polish to darken them or whatnot. Thanks.
Beautiful work y’all, if he really wanted them beefyer y’all could of put on the Vibram 100 soles, I’ve done a few of those and they turn out beautiful and unique.
I've been watching for a bit, I bought potter and sons suede spray. Amazing, also can I send a pair of boots? Thanks!
Was going to ask "At about 2:14, am I seeing things, or did they actually use *pegs* in attaching the soles?" Then I see at about 12:04 that *you're* putting pegs in. Didn't think any modern shoes/boots still used those! You guys always manage to find/do things I either never saw before or see so rarely it could almost be considered "never"...

Thanks, lots of good boot brands still use pegs
On some boot repair videos, the cobbler uses a solid cork midsole. In this video, cork paste was used. What's the difference between the two methods? Advantages/disadvantages of each?
Nice !!
Your audio capture is really good.

I feel like I’m watching Nip Tuck, good video
I like the Vibram soles on the Tecovas Banderas boots. So if people don't want to replace leather soles with rubber then look at the Ranch line in Tecovas.
One question that I need to ask. When you have finished a pair a shoes or boots can you tell who did what shoe/boot?
those look a whole lot better now , way more comfortable and functional now im sure

God damn, you’re talented
Y'all got the memo! lol
Dear Trenton and Heath. Thanks for your videos. I've noticed that a lot of shoes that you get are hardly ever worn. Would be nice to see some complicated repairs on obliterated shoes like the 80 years old shoes and the Red Wing shoes (and if the customers are willing to pay for it). I feel like viewers learn more from those kinds of videos.
Just curious…did y’all save the materials that y’all took off?? Like sole and heal!!
What a great look! Have never seen a pair of cowboy boots with a lug sole, so the uniqueness of this makeover is great. You will probably get more such requests in the future. Great job, gents! And happy weekend to you and and all. Enjoy! 🤙🤓

I got sum tecovas too but I would like the the insole to be hard leather insole instead of the cushioned leather insole could y’all make it into a hard leather insole for me ??
This feller might want engineer boots. Leather soles all day!!!! Nice job you guys!
Hey there! Your videos are super great and you guys do seriously awesome work! That said, you guys might want to think about using some music to play ‘during’ the work process throughout the videos as opposed to just the intro and outro! It really ads to the vibe and feel of the video etc! 👍🏼🥾👍🏼😊
Hi boys. I like your work👍 and I have a question for you. How does the cork filling smell?😊
