Here in the UK we killed off all our beavers a couple of hundred yeas ago. However over the last 20/50 plus years we have had a real problem with flooding so we have had to import a beaver population back. Two years ago there was great celebration because a family of beavers have move into Longleat estate the marquis of baths home

350 years ago, importing them now is much the same as introducing an invasive species. Up north they have already had to relocate beavers that were released because of the problems they created. We are a very small, overcrowded country, I'm sure that there are better ways to control flooding, and the opposite, water retention.

we do have snapping turtles but not in great quantity. we rarely see them.

The water is brown because of the decomposition of wood and leaves in the water.

The brown color is from tannin from the leaves

It always makes me a little flummoxed when beavers start gnawing on hundred year old trees. Stop gentrification, beavers!!! 🤣😁😉
