Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A friend of mine asked me if I'd look at his other Son's transmission as It failed too. No matter how man of these I do, I always seem to be surprised at what I find!!

A HD stock build up is always welcome with a list of "Should replace as long as we are in there". Corvette servo, HD sun shell, wide band, 3-4 pistons and HD clutch build to start. Maybe a little discussion on spacer plates and check balls. Anything to address the weak points. Thanks.
I'm always up for a build video. Especially when somebody does it right.

I have a 2000 Tahoe with the same transmission. Everything was fine when the engine threw a rod. But after sitting for a couple years it won't shift out of second. First and second are good just no 3 or 4. Any advice?
@IrocinZ
Жыл бұрын
It could be either electrical or mechanical. It will take some diagnosis to find out. If I was to guess, with no check engine light, it's probably a forward sprag or the 3-4 clutch is just done. Like I said though, it will take some diagnosis.

If it was electical, where would I look? My son said he was pressure washing the truck at the car wash and when he left it would not go into 3rd or 4th. I did go in and replace the solenoids. The pan was lose and leaking. Fluid looked black and burnt smelling

im having an issue where I cannot get my output shaft snap ring on. Im starting to wonder if the gear on the shaft for the speed sensor migrated, keeping the shaft from going in far enough.. we cant compare the old snap ring to the new one, because it shot out somewhere.. im wondering if the last builder used a thinner snap ring. im also wondering if shoddy aftermarket parts were used, that affected the tolerances.. im abt 2 mm short. thanks for any help.. we took it apart, and reassembled it 3 times, so I am pretty sure we are installing everything correctly.

Sounds like there is a clearance issue that should be corrected. Or, it could be a mismatch like you mentioned of the parts that your using...

If the tolerance is right, then chances are you have the right ring in there. It does tell you to check for the correct on in the instructions that comes with the Zpak.

I have a big question that will help a great deal if you can tell me the answer. “can I change out the sprag gear without removing the valve body? I have actually been running with only 1st , 2nd, & reverse for close to a year. The 4l60 I had rebuilt a couple years ago. It is my guess the sprag give way do to me coasting down hills in neutral then pulling it back in drive after getting past the bottom of the hill. I have watched your vedeo a few times. Thanks

hey man wondering if you could help me out I have a 2011 Silverado with 4l60e I have first and second gear doesn’t catch 3rd or 4th. What could he the issues I was thinking about replacing the shift solenoids and the torque converter solenoid
@IrocinZ

More than likely, the forward sprag is broken. Either way you look at it, it'll probably have to come apart...or the 3/4 clutch is burnt up...
Very impressive . I have a 98 c5 corvette that originally was leaking . I found a 10 mm bolt in the pan . I just wanted to change the fluid and fix the leak . Replaced the filter and fluid . 10-20 miles later no 3-4 gears . Any thoughts for the problem . Generally speaking how much is a rebuild at a dealer . Everyone else around here doesn’t want the job . Ty

Our dealership policy prohibits me from rebuilding one of that age. They don't want to have to deal with a warranty issues. I can't really give you an exact cost, especially since the whole rear end has to come apart. The trans itself would probably be between 1400 on the low end and 2800 depending on current market prices and availability. That does not include remove and replace time....
@IrocinZ

As far as what I think the issue is, it probably lost a Teflon ring on the input shaft...

I called around to a ton of places around me about rebuilding mine and nobody does it on the bench anymore because of too many problems with customers. Now as far as I'm concerned, if you rebuild a transmission completely and not skip out on things, no one should have a problem. It would technically be like getting one from a dealership right? I understand the issue with customers installing themselves but seriously, there's only a handful of things they could screw up and obviously nothing inside the transmission. I mean there really is only the front seal if for some reason they took the converter off and rear seal if no transfer case, and cooler lines. I get some want you to replace the cooler and lines or hot flush if someone has a machine to do it but other than that i mean it's all on the quality of the parts and person who did it.

Buy a Ridgid half inch drive gun. Beats any air impact gun I've ever used. It'll break stuff and strip stuff...lol

For the record the day I got it and brought it to work I had the shop try it out on tractor lugnuts. They didn't have time to really test it but blasted on a nut at over 400 ft lbs and took it off. I asked Ridgid for the specs and their answer was it's in the manual but it wasn't and they apologized. That was the first model which was $329 at the time. They discontinued that one and came out with a slightly smaller one but I haven't had the pleasure because that monster has done just about everything I've thrown at it and what it couldn't do I had to break off with a breaker bar and all my body weight.

The one I have at home is a Milwaukee Mid torque and it does pretty well. I have not bought the big boy but I hear it does really well. I still use my air quite a bit and with 175psi running through it, there is not much it won't take care of...lol

@@IrocinZ i think there's a air model Hellcat or something like that which is supposed to be the best out there. I looked it up a long time ago and I think it was around 250 at the time but for convenience and portability I went with that ridgid and no regrets whatsoever although for a while I think it was spraining my wrists from the torque and weight of it. I have small wrists for a man so that didn't help matters...lol my girlfriend has bigger wrists than me and half the size of me.

Why would a pump in 4l60e fit one convertor but one convertor won’t go in all way to have enough room to bolt up flywheel
@IrocinZ
3 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure you have the right converter for the right shaft. The 300mm won't interchange with a 298mm for one. And when installing the converter, it should drop in a total of three times. If you get two and not the third, you will destroy the pump as the last drop is when the converter engages in the pump.
@michaelbaskinmichael9862
