We had the same washer dryer pair and I fixed the spider arm and put in a new balancer. It ran OK but didn't get the clothes as clean as a top loader we had in the garage that is over 30 years old. Once I fixed the washer, the dryer stopped heating. Another 100 bucks and everything was fine, for about 6 months and now my new spider arm broke again. Cheap pot metal. We sold both and moved our older Maytags back into the house. We got about 4.5 years out of this set at about $3,500.00 bucks. Not a good deal. Never again.

Thanks a lot for the video. I just got done taking mine apart and waiting for the part. I like what you said about how basic of a system this is and you don't realize how easy it is to fix it yourself until you actually do it. Watching u go through the same exact thing was like Dejavu for me. My Samsung is a different model but pretty much is the same identical system with same exact parts. It had previously worked for 6 years with no problems then last week i tried to fire it up for the first time after leaving it untouched for a year and it started making weird noises, followed by a non-spinning drum. Opened the back cover and saw the motor spinning, which told me it had to be something that attached the motor to the drum.

Wow. Thank you so much for this, total life saver. My flange was was completely destroyed. The shaft was detached and the flange center was ground to a pulp.

My mom had a gift rule. Gifts from my father never had a cord. If the device has a cord, it is a household expense, not a gift. This was 60 years ago. Still is good advice.

My grandmother used to tell a story about my grandfather giving her an appliance as a gift once.... ONCE! And I grew up thinking that if you wanted to stay married you just didn't' do that. But my wife is a bit odd. We are both very practical, down to earth sorts. and just like I would love to get a new saw or drill for a gift she just loves new stuff for the house. I'm a lucky man like that!

@@denoftools My wife and I do practical usually, otherwise just a small inexpensive gift. We've done windows for the house, appliances, steam mop, etc. and other things we need for the house. (This year I got a Dyson V8 coming.) I really don't need anything. Anything I need, I buy when I need it.

I had a simple, ten year old, Kenmore dryer stop heating over the Summer. Never fixed one before. After watching some vids on similar models, I ordered about 6 different thermostats, assemblies, and parts, and replaced most of the heating parts. Has worked fine for months. The parts all together were about $60, so saved a ton on a service call. It wasn't as hard as your washer repair looked though.

Thank you SO MUCH Bear for sharing this video. Our washer just “Exploded” the other night. Scared me and the Yorkie. She barked, I screamed and we both ran. I strongly believe our problem is the spider arm as well but no matter what it is I’m more confident in approaching this. Thanks to you! Keep these coming whenever you get the opportunity.

Awesome job describing how to take this unit apart. Sure enough it was the Spider 'brace', totally shot with part floating around just like on the video. Love the bear by the way and the kids interruptions.

I sprayed my spider arm with primer so far so good .

I just replaced the bearings on mine, the thing sounded like a freight train on spin cycle. I spent a day taking it apart and another day putting it back together. There was nothing difficult about the process but there is a lot of little stuff which needs to be disconnected as you go. Finally, it was nice to also be able to give the inside of the tub and the front seal a thorough cleaning. These machines are notorious for developing a funky smell over the years. I am glad to project is over, and with any luck I will get another seven years out of the thing.

Had to replace the spider arm on mine it was a breeze taking it apart but lord putting it all back together took way to long 🤣🤣

Buy yourself a set of Speed Queens. They're made in the USA in Wisconsin with metal, not plastic. I got huge warranties on mine. Also they can be completely repaired (If they ever need it) from the front of the machine. I had looked at all the washers out there before I bought the Speed Queens, and the issue with the spider arms was the reason I stayed away from those front loaders. So glad I went with the pair I have.

Dude you own. Just helped my dad rip apart his washer to confirm a broken spider arm. This video saved us a lot of time.

Wow bear im shocked at how nice your bearings were when you pulled that apart. I been doing appliance repair for close to 30 years. Its extremely rare in my experience to have the shaft come out so easily. Good job for a rookie. You did an excellent job.

Thanks! I'll be honest I was fully expecting to have to replace those bearings. And that shaft was in such good shape I actually cut it out from the rest of the spider arm and kept it because I couldn't bring myself to throw away a nice solid chunk of steel like that.

@@denoftools you never know when the cave needs a solid chunk of metal. It does tell me that Mrs. Bear takes really good care of the machine. Usually under loaded or extreme overloading causes bad bearing wear. The other side of that coin is seal failure leaking water into the bearings destroying the brearings.

Thanks for posting, I had the same unit with the same problem. Mine still spun but could hear something rattling around (which was all the crude moving around). Also at high speed spin you could hear noise like the drum was shaking. My spider arm was in slightly better shape than yours but still heavily gunked up and had a crack in it. About half of the bolts sheared off when I tried to remove them. I had to break the spider apart with a hammer to get it out of there.

I used to work for rent a center about 15 years ago and my boss found out i was good at fixing things. So i got to fix a lot of stuff, but I refused to mess with front load washers, mostly due to the fact they were full of nasty water and clothes when they broke. But the experience came in handy when mom and dad needed the dryer rebuilt/repaired and i have fixed a few elcheapo appliances for myself over the years.

All front load washers have an issue with mold and some top load. One thing is folks dont want to leave the door open. Most folks who buy a cheapie top load are not concerned with looks and leave the lid open or there is gap allowing airflow.

just wondering, on Samsung wf218anb/xaa 01 front load, how far do you push the oil seal into the plastic casing of drum housing? I installed mine flush with the plastic, but seems to rub a little when I dry tested and slid spider arm into place.

That washing machine... I am impressed you got it all taken care of. The whole procedure reminds me of changing a radiator on one of those Hyundai mini vans. I think I counted 50 bolts or more around that range when I did one a long time ago. If you ever get tired of it, I suggest the Kenmore washers and dryers. Seems like Sears has made their products easily serviceable for both washers and dryers. As long as they look like the regular washers and dryers. Only thing u gotta do with them is clean the sensors for lint on the dryers and maintain the drum on the washers if they have any issues. My lawnmower is like a 27 hp craftsman 2002 model I put together. I also have a newer 420 cc mower that has retired into a tow or ride only vehicle. It's just how everything is where you buy it all nice and new, but it will break like it was 30 years old. I think we hit that process of plastics and tin not making it happen after 2001.

It's like that with everything nowadays. I have a fear of buying new stuff that's going to break. Mainly because it usually does. My brand new bissel carpet cleaner lasted like 4 months before I had to replace the pump. Along with our LG glass top stove suddenly developed a crack in it, and the part is obsolete. But, at least you managed to fix it. If that new gear is just like the old one. It will probably need service again around the same time as the old one. But last a little bit longer since it never got the experience of being shipped around when it was born. I am pretty sure they are made that way so people buy , break and replace them. It's just a way for companies to make more money. You think they would have made that gear out of metal.

Kenmore does not manufacture one single large appliance. Not one, not a single one. Typically is contracted with SAMSUNG (yep) or LG for the manufacture of product. Kenmore elite series has used Samsung and LG for many years now. Just branding my friend

That seems like a ton of work to replace a part that the factory screwed up. I've felt for some time that things are now built for planned obsolescence with repairs more costly than a replacement. I have a 25 year old Whirlpool top loader that I replaced the water pump and agitator assembly. They were easy repairs and inexpensive. The matching dryer has never had an issue. I've always wanted one of these new front load washers, but you've cured me of that!

My Samsung washer and dryer both broke at the same time after 1 year and one e well. I had the extended warranty. Took them weeks to fix. Lowe's was great and replaced them for me. Don't know if I would but Samsung washer and dryer again.

I was a domestic appliance engineer for 35 years and that problem started when they introduced biological wash powder, in Europe most of the outer tubs are now welded so you can’t separate it, they don’t want you repairing them.👍🥃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This seems to be the trend everywhere - I was actually surprised that the tub in the video wasn't a welded unit.

I did a similar teardown this weekend. Broken spider assembly, bent shaft, seals were wrecked, one of the bearings was shot. Unfortunately, in Canada, the replacement parts were possibly more than $500 (spider assembly, rear oil seal, tub seal, front door seal, bearing kit ordered from the US or replacing the rear tub). So the machine is off to the recycling yard, and something other than a Samsung will be taking its place.

Mine got pretty rowdy the last couple of loads it ran before it finally bound up and threw a 3E code. Tore it apart today to confirm the spider arm broke, and it was actually worse than this one. Broke clean off of the shaft. Ordering a new one as we speak.

Thank you for your video! You inspired me to finally take the plunge and repair my Samsung clothes washer. Mine made a loud continuous knocking sound during some spin cycles. Unfortunately my problem wasn't the spider arm. It was for the most part intact but definitely corroded. Since I had the drum apart, I figured the problem could be the bearings so I replaced that. I got a new seal for the drum and put everything back together but the sound was still there. I opened the machine again and looked around to see what other spinning thing could be causing the sound. I zeroed in on the drain pump. I noticed the spinning blades was slightly loose from the motor compartment and water was leaking inside. My machine doesn't make the loud noise anymore after replacing the pump. The funny thing is during all this work I found a technical manual taped to the back of the machine. I finally took the time to read it after fixing the machine. There are helpful diagnostic tips which I think could have helped me realize the problem is the drain pump. :) At least I now know my machine's spider arm is although intact but corroded and the drum has new bearings. Oh when I replaced the bearings, I loaded it with lots of silicone lubricant. The default just had bits. Thank you for your efforts. You helped me stretch the life of my washing machine.

I contemplated a new machine but when I saw your video it motivated me and also reminded me of my work on the dryer. I rolled up my sleeves and slowly figured out what was wrong. Looking back, I agree, the effort isn't as daunting as it seems. Compared to a new machine, I definitely saved money. Maybe I would read the technical manual first next time. :) But I wouldn't have known the condition of the spider arm or have a chance to clean the inside of the drum. :) Thank you again!

Who am I to argue with my favourite friendly bear... I have same attitude... in 25 yrs. only had the fridge compressor replaced twice by a technician.... everything else I do myself. Living in Australia we don't have many american products except ironically top-load washing machine and drier made by Speedqueen. Had them since 1996....still running well except main bearing in washer has been noisy for the last 4 yrs... have not replaced it yet because I can't find the size without tearing the machine down and I don't wan't to be without machine while waiting for replacement part (could be up to a month here...sadly). My motto is: If humans have put it together - another human can take it apart. Not bragging but my success rate is around 98%. Well done mr. Bear....Respect for your relationship with your kids... Lovely.

Most anything can be fixed, that is if you can get it apart and if you can get the parts. I've got a Frigidaire front loader, thus far it's held up well. Gain detergent and it gets the laundry really clean. I've also got a 30 year old Sears dryer, original belt but three sets of rollers and a timer knob with no markings to keep it working. I checked on a OEM replacement timer knob, 40 bucks!

Damm your good! Thats a lot of parts to remember. Good job. I'm going from a LG top loader to Samsung front loader. After 3 control boards in 6 years.... LG is going. Inside is so easily cleaned with a half gallon of cheap vinegar and hottest water comes out clean and smelling like fresh air.

Nice job on the washer repair! Man that is no simple task! We still use a top loader Maytag that is energy star rated and only paid around $300.00 at Lowes because it was last years model.. I bought a Square Trade warranty for $30.00 and it failed on the last day of the warranty.. Contacted Square Trade and they said "that's too heavy for you to return for repair so we are refunding what you paid for the washer".. LOL I was shocked and Googled the problem and replaced a control that controls fill level, temp, etc. and ~$70.00 later I was back in business! This washer has the commercial drive system and S\S drum.. Years later it's still running.. If I had to make the repair you just made I'd junk the machine!

Yeah that lift is getting way more use than even I thought it would. I use it for a lot of projects. as I'm getting over and bending over and crawling around on the floor isn't the easiest thing it makes it really easy to lift it up to an easy to work on height

Great video! I really appreciate it! I am in same circumstance and debating whether or not to do it. I suspect the first time through it's worth it. I believe the cleaning is not much different than my old one, but i will say it used significantly less water. But with new washers of similar ilk running close to 700 bucks, i think i'll put one spider arm in it. It spins freely, but it's shaking the dang house apart!

I wish I had seen this before I bought a set of these. Makes me feel like I am sitting on a time bomb. Good job, but beyond my desire to beat myself up doing the repair. Seems like it would cost more than the machine is worth to pay to have this repair done. You expressed one of my feelings about washers; the top loaders with a simple mechanical controls last 20 years without a problem so why go front loader at all.

My mom got that model around the same time. No real issues. I think they had to replace a belt a year or two ago but thats it

Completed this job today. Had my arm powder coated before installing it. Danged drill died so all those screws and bolts? By hand with ratcheting wrench set, screw drivers, manual. Added no less than an extra hour and a half.

Great video Bear.... I used my engine hoist to remove the drum. I knew the engine hoist was gonna come in handy one day. The spider arm was broken, left a grove on the front portion of the plastic housing and shaves a part of the front balance ring and not to mention the plastic part where the water enters the drum. My washer is about 10-15 years old and I only had to replace the water vacuum pump since I bought the washer. After adding all the parts that Im going to need, about $375 - $400, I think its not worth fixing my washer. Good video and I learned a lot from it

Great video. Your family seems lovely. I think I’m gonna shop new machines instead of replacing this. Pretty sure the spider arm is my problem.

Well, it will be good to know when to replace our Samsung washer, which lives under a Samsung dryer in a small condo closet. Although it's only an endless number of bolts and screws that need to be pulled, I can see that you need your hydraulic cart, another set of hands for lifting, and space to move the washer in and out of its parking spot. No way you can do this fix in place. But I sure enjoyed seeing you succeed, Red.

Samsung do seem to not be very hot in the design dept. Last rental we had has a top loader samsung. Complete piece of junk. The way they mounted the pump caused it to stress and fracture the mounting brackets. Real clever! Got a LG front loader when we bought our house - Have to say I really like it and it does seem to get stuff cleaner. Old house we had we got a Bosch front loader, but that went with the house when we sold - was really happy with that. With 3 boys always a plus on trh clean and ease of use as that thing is on all the time!. Also a plus that I now never put my shoulder out over stretching to get that one last sock out stuck in the bottom. Might seem stupid - but happened more than once!

Great video, thanks for sharing. I just diagnosed my 7yr old machine to have exactly this kind of issue. Some thing clinging around inside and it is loose, can move it up and down by over an inch. Happened last night when washing towels, the occasional heavy load gave it the death kick. Not sure if I am doing this job and if it is worse it. Need to sleep over it.

Wow man. This one is I think a model year newer than mine. It's making some ticking which I think may be a strut/shock absorber. So I've been watching videos trying to find tear downs. Great to see how horrible mine probably looks inside that plastic.

While you have the drum apart replacing the spider I'd suggest replacing the bearings and the seal. It's just as much work to replace those later, like next year. Essentially you're doing a rebuild of the drive which will increase the amount of time before the next failure.

Our washer stopped spinning after a loud bang. Used your vid to take it apart and found the Spider Arm in pieces. It was a fun exploratory surgery (my first with a washer). Unfortunately the part isn't readily available anymore and I think I'm gonna buy a brand new top loader for $600 instead of trying to repair this 8 year old for $200+ Would have been a fun project though! I totally agree with your statement about buying a cheap top loading washer. After our 2nd front loader died after having front loaders for 10 - 15 years, I decided that we needed to step back and get something different. Sure, the front loaders are supposed to be gentler on the clothes, more efficient, blah, blah, blah, but at the end of the day, if you have to spend 800 - 1000 dollars every 5 - 8 years for a washer, or about 1/2 that to repair the old one, I can get a top loader for the price of the repair of the front loader. Granted, it does not have all the bells and whistles, but the one we have is just a basic, non-electronic control panel type of washing machine we picked up from Home Depot that my wife is happy with and has been working flawlessly for at least 5 years.

@@denoftools Yup, there are some really nice features available on new top load models, but it circles back to sharing a lot of the same failure points as the front loaders - lid locks, control boards, etc are standard issue on the ultra capacity top load units. I think part of it is a consequence of using a similar drive system to the front loads, allowing for a larger drum but requiring more sophisticated controls and getting the safety interlocks to match.

If you want a washer and dryer that is made like they "Used" to be. Buy a Speed Queen. Had a Lady Kenmore Washer and Dryer I bought my wife when we got married. They lasted 25 years. When they finally gave out I went to an Appliance Store looking at a Maytag. I asked the Salesmen if the new ones would last 25 years. He said I would be lucky to get 7 out of them. Then I found Speed Queen. They are Laundromat Washers and Dryers with a Control Panel instead of a Coin Box. Had them 7 years so far and they are tanks. Yes, I am praising Speed Queen to the sky but I want things built tough and made to last like they were when I was a kid. Speed Queen does that. If you need a new washer and dryer at least look at them before you pay more for less. And even better they are made in the USA.

That is true. My wife has to have her Comforter cleaned at the Dry Cleaners. But I have been very impressed with how tough they are. Yes, they are not as big of a Capacity as new washers, but they are about what our old Kenmore was.. But my wife does our personal and business Laundry in them every week and works the tar out of them. And in spite of that they have never broken and still look like new. I guess you can't have it all. Personally, I want appliances that were as tough as my parents had and Speed Queen is about the only thing still built like that.

you build it we destroy it Boy, You got that right about Frigidaire. We bought one for our condo in 2001 because my parents and grandmother had a Frigidaire and they lasted forever. But that was when they were owned by GM. That refrigerator was the biggest piece of junk we ever had. It froze everything and they never could fix it. Finally replaced it. Finally sold the condo with the refrigerator with it. Bought a Whirlpool for the new one and it has been great.

The Spider arm is made out of zinc. We used them in the US Navy of Ships and Subs, It was a sacrificial material that would corrode so that other things would not rust.

I almost did the same thing but the mystery of the whole thing drove me to tear it down. And once there it was an easy enough fix.

Very Helpful Video, Thank You for taking the Time, Wow that look like a big job. My washer WF511ABW doesn't sound like yours, nothing rubbing, Yet but more like a dry ball bearing. Do You Know when I can get a Repair Manual ?

I never thought I'd be envious of someone's washer/dryer, but that red makes my plain ol' white sammy's look boring. I just had to replace my spider arm too. Never worked on a washer before, but I kinda had the same outlook as you. Now our dryer I can disassemble and reassemble blindfolded. I've put so many belts in that damn thing, and I still can't keep my wife from overloading it. Maybe if she had to fix it... I'd never be able to find my tools again though. I've got into the habit of sticking my screws back in the holes they came out of. I've had numerous nights putting cars back together and looking at a table, cart, and rolling stool full of nuts and bolts and it can be unnerving sometimes. The washer repair wasn't too bad though, not nearly as bad as I've imagined it to be.

Is that spider made out of aluminum? Descaler that containes citric acid destroys that thing. Amidosulfonic acid doesn't do that. I just found out.

So is the bearing assembly part of the spider arm? My squeals and I'm just about to getting the tub out now to look further into it!

Planned obsolescence. If this isn't designed to fail, then what is? How much more would it have cost to use something more resistance to corrosion?

Yeah, definitely designed to fail. I'd coat the new spider arm with truck bed coating or something to hopefully make it last longer

Same washer! Getting code 3E ands it keeps trying to spin sounds like motors are clicking on and off. Do you think it could be the spider arm?

I just had the concrete balance crack in half on my Samsung front load, could not get the rotor cover off to save my life to check it (system was not unbalanced so probably isn't an issue at the moment), also could not find a replacement gasket to save my life the one I bought was too fat, so I said eff it and hacked it all back to together, no leaks and totally on balance.

Ours just stopped working after vibration and shaking developed a bit ago. I am quite sure the spider arm is the issue. Great video. If I decide to do this fix (rather than scrap it and buy a non-Samsung) I think I will coat the new spider arm with an aerosol epoxy. Seems like the design engineers would have specified that in the first place. Incidentally, on 1/26/2020 I called the "support" line at Samsung, described the problem, and the lady insisted there was no such corrosion failure problem ever reported to them. I'm not criticizing her personally for lying, but it tells me all I need to know about Samsung corporate. If I buy a new machine I will try to get my wife to accept a top loader. The issue is she is not quite 5' tall, and can't load/unload one. Not a biggee. I'm retired, and can do that task when needed, as I already do about half the time, as well as ironing and some cooking. She did enough of that for our first 50 years :-)

Hi, what happened to your washer. I have a similar model. What I heard was a loud bang and when I opened the door smoke with a horrible smell came out. Was wondering if you had the same problem. My drum sounded the same as yours. Thank you in advance

Hello, I have a leak on my Samsung front load washer the leak is coming from the bottom between the door seal and the drum. I just don’t know if changing the door seal will fix the leak. I have a video of it. Let me know what you recommend

The inside of my drum it's making a "scrapping/scratching" sound when it spins went to investigate with my phone light and saw that where there's a little speed bump looking thing there's is a seem that seem somehow split open and the exposed metal is scrapping against the outer drum wall. How can I fix this?

Wow-zinc pest. Haven't seen that happen in real life before. Knock whatever, but so far (11 years) my non-steam Samsung has worked perfectly. Aside from the steam, I think it's the same model, right down to the color. Sucks that yours gave up the ghost so easily.

So what did you do buy a new drum

Was the replacement spider arm different? (Diff. material, coated/painted, etc.) or will this repeat in a few years?

Exact same thing. Six more years and this too will die. And stay dead. I'm not going to keep putting money into this thing.

The worst thing is that the newer washing tubs are glued. You can't change the spider or the bearing.

Frank they keep finding ways to prevent simple repairs! Energy saving?? Don’t think so when so many extra parts have to produced to replace the parts that fail. And so many parts are no longer available. How much more energy does it take to replace so many complete units??

Did yours rub a completely perfect circle on the front plastic tub? I got mine all done went to put it together and realized the front tub has a perfect circle the entire way around from the aluminum inner tub when tbe arm desinegrated.... Literally it was dust.... Super bad design

in florida repair companies state- we do not repair samsungs at all .there oven circuit boards are cheap-- cant take the heat. fride boards also junk.

Sounds like a motor issue

I bought my Samsung WF337AAG front loader in 2007. Today something about the drain cycle went afoul, the water wouldn’t drain. A strange on-off buzzing noise came up instead. Long story short about disassembly; I removed drain pump, looked in the inlet and saw a thin rubber something up against the impeller inside the pump housing. Easy fix I thought, but what is an O-ring doing loose in the pump? I took it apart and found the rubber something to be a 5” piece of black insulated stranded copper wire. Something “else” fell out that looked like a part of a meteor from outer space. Strange shape, really light, definitely metallic but not magnetic and heavily pitted. I see that it’s a rough inch or so square and one side is “bent” over. What the hell could this be? My first thought was possibly it being a piece of the silver bar (mine has the SilverCare feature). I found the silver package and noticed immediately no way for a piece this big could ever make it’s way through the tubing connected to outer tub. Still scratching my head I went ahead and ordered a new pump. The impeller was trashed and so was the pump housing. So bad it just started to leak so I got the whole package rather than just the motor/impeller side. It’s on the way here but later and still curious I googled “removing the inner drum from a Samsung front loader”. Selected this video hoping I could see if there was something built in between the inner and outer drums which could have “fallen off”. As soon as I saw Bear pick up to comment on that identical (except his is smooth) piece of metal (which came off the spider arm) my heart just sank. I guess I should consider myself lucky I got 13 years out of this washer. Since I can’t return the pump now, I’ll go ahead and install it and see if I can eek some more life out of it!

26:41 4 years ago, I had to talk my wife out of insisting on these front loaders. My argument were the consumer reports against these AND taking her to the laundromat saying "how many front loader washers do you see in this commercial environment?" (there were 2 giant capacity) And finally the initial cost for a washer that breaks down within 5 years...needless to say I won

Good for you and just so you know I looked into those commercial front loaders and the only reason they're like that is for space-saving convenience

Actually consumer reports recommends front loaders. They wash better and last longer. Top loader are the most repaired. Front load are usually the most common in a laundromat. New top load gearboxes go bad in 5 years.

I wonder if you could make the spider arm on cnc machin . Although its probably cheaper to get one on Ebay. I have to agree with you it does look like pot metal. I think i rather have a top loading washing machine .I heard that spead queen is easy to work on .most Kenmore are made by world pool . And there Freezers were made By Frigidaire I use to hall them out of st cloud MN .when I drove for Werner Enterprises. I also heard that LG is the same as Samsung.

Im glad you got it back together. About the cnc machine I.thought it might be away to convince someone you need one for projects that pop up arond the house. Plus im not having any luck on trying to by your De Bear shirts in 3 xto 4x in black . If i can get a price list and a address as to where to send for it ,that would be great ,it's for My Beautiful Red hair Wife. Thanks☆.

It's so common now to have aluminum spider... even miele does it. (which only based on that reason and the price, they are bellow samsung IMHO)

Thank you so much. and yeah I actually have from all my reviews quite a selection of power tools in the shop and I find myself keep going back to the Hercules

I am good at fixing just about anything and am confident I could do this fix. However, my washer is in an upstairs laundry room and on a pedestal. I would need a lot of assistance getting it out of the laundry room to have enough room to take it apart. There seems to be a problem with a board as well. Then it is a big mess on my floor and I would need assistance to put it back. That spider arm would have never broken if they used steel or at least powder coated it to keep the water from penetrating. Obviously, planned obsolescence. Waiting for repair quote on mine but will trash it if it's $500 or more. Will be buying a speedqueen for my next washer. Older technology that actually lasts 15 years.

Any manufacturer that don’t make the spider arm out of that corrosive aluminum material?
