I was in 278th ACR of the TN National Guard and we've had Abrams since 03. The M60 Sabra 3 is still in service with Turkey today.

Stonking good value. I am a bit disappointed with the TOW launcher on the Bradley as it needs filler if you put it in the 'up' position. The front flap on the T80 is a bit odd a s well, and (to me) looks better when fitted wrong :) I would have happily paid another £50 and had the tokens in cardboard and maybe some cardboard terrain as well. The Soviet army box looks like a must buy!

I think of it in terms of what might happen after the initial fighting of WW3. Depleted units get back-filled with older tanks, as they cannot produce the new stuff quick enough to replace the losses. This explains an army having a mix of the new toys and the old faithfuls.

Units were upgraded as the new equipment became available and especially with tanks you may not receive enough vehicles to equip all of your companies with the new vehicles. Not that we have had war like this, but I would doubt they would mix tanks units smaller than the company level due to support and supply difficulties. This would also represent a category 1 division vs category 2 possibly, though the T-64 was still Cat 1. As for the M60 same hold true, just because the M1A1 was available does not mean every single unit in Germany got them on release day. You would possibly have mixed battalions. But again, not past the company level. Also across a division you would have had M60A3 and M1A1 working together. Same holds true for the Bradley

Just checked the M1 was produces 79-85, the M60A3 ceased production for the U.S. military in 83. So there was an overlap so if playing the "1985" start of WW3, totally plausible to have a serious mix of vehicles. Which is really cool for modeling. I have T62's, T64's and BTR60's for a soviet force as described in orders of battle from the early 80's.

@@Grithertime this was my intended point, which might not have been clear. Tanks wouldn't be in mixed formations for logistical and supply purposes as well as concentration of combat power. M60s wouldn't be mixed in at the front.

Lovely unboxing video! I'm glad you shared your thinking about the infantry side of the game and you are correct that it takes longer!

Great video didn't Know about 80s upgrade. Your right about marines with m-60s, they used them in Iraqs desert storm. I also know the Italians had a good supply. So thanks because I'll be buying this supplement. Great day gentlemen.

Awesome! This set looks like a great place to start Team Yankee from a value for money perspective.

Hi guys. Great video. I really enjoy your chatty, friendly format. It is great to see inside this box. The M-60 is an odd choice, but the kit builds up fine. The engineering on the road wheel suspension arms just all fits together nicely. The T-80 and BMP-3 kits look great. Infantry are great for holding objectives and their missiles can make a big difference, but it does add complexity that takes time to resolve during gameplay. Just sticking with Tanks and IFVs for starters might be a good call. But my Australian and British infantry forces for TY are tough opponents. Even if painting their camouflage uniforms is an eye-watering challenge.

Oh for sure. Playing this game seriously involves infantry. We just want to get a bit more competent before slowing the game too much.

Painting infantry is not fun, and i'm hoping the Soviet plastics will be a bit easier. Just waiting for the new book to be released to see how much infantry I will need for my Soviets. Hopefully I can field a smaller force than my Brits which have a full Mech Company + Milan Group.

Subcomandante73 Painting Soviet infantry is a doddle. Much easier than Nato infantry who all have camo uniforms. Soviet infantry are bigger units than Nato generally, and make sure you take the additional Spigot teams. 3 ATGM teams on a large base is a very scary proposition.

Interesting side note, Battlefront fixed the mold for the Bradley sometime between you posting the review and this year. I bought the Starter box last year and had that sitting on my shelf. I put on some random Team Yankee videos on, when i started building last weekend and it came across you (and Fog of War) mentioning the error. I looked at the sprue of the Bradley and the sprue is correct now.

Thanks to you all and a slow day at work watching your vids... I now have ordered this insane value of a starter set. Thanks dudes. Reminds me settingwise of an old RTS I used to play of the Cold War gone hot: Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath.

GDW, There's a name I haven't heard in many years!

It's nice that the Abrams sprue has the option to build the M1A1 even if the card isn't included, but I only wish the APUs were available separately so I could model them as M1A1HC's. The stock M1 or IPM1 just doesn't have a gun powerful enough to keep up with the modern state of the game.

Yeah, I built the IPM1s for the starter set game and I am thinking it is THE worst option of the four....

If you want a laugh look at the new Ajax scout tank that is replacing the Scimitar. Not sure where they expect it to hide :p

To be honest I guess they just decided with how powerful modern optical systems and sensors are these days, trying to hide in the old fashion sense would likely just be nearly impossible so they just decided to go bigger for more armour, equipment/sensors. What do you think of the Boxer IFV they are planning to replace the Warriors with?

About the M1 Abrams, I guess it's supposed to be more accurate and outrange then flank the T-80 or out range the T-62s and KO them then the Bradley's move up and take out the T-80s. Which by outrange I mostly mean hit more often father out if the ranges are the same.
