I agree w/ the exception of the Teacher’s aide for SpecEd... you are most definitely a teacher “teacher” in that position. Administration just doesn’t give a crap about you though because you don’t have a certification and can get away w/ not paying salary and just pay hourly as well as get unpaid breaks 😪

@@Evan-ve5yj As a teacher who has worked in schools in 5 different countries... in MOST, teachers are paid badly. As an international teacher you might get expat packages which help, but even then... its no where near where it needs to be. Even Scandinavia, despite there being a lot of respect for teachers and education, the schools are well funded, but teachers aren't always paid well - I wasn't!

And nurses
Saw a lot of comments criticizing the use of former teachers, adjunct professors, and teacher aides in this video. The reality is, they probably couldn't get a full panel of fully-licensed teachers due to a multitude of reasons (namely, many teachers were probably teaching, teachers worry about the safety of their career due to the publicity this brings, etc.). Regardless, these people bring a lot of experience to the table, and in light of Teacher Appreciation week (which is this week in case y'all didn't know. It's also Nurse Appreciation week, so shout out to all the nurse-folk!), it was nice to see the statistics on teaching/teachers as a way to bring awareness to some misconceptions as well as bring some awareness to issues we are currently facing. I liked this vid, contrary to a general consensus.

The zoom in on Dan in every one of these videos is awesome!
The blonde lady substitutes at my school often! I knew I recognized the person on the thumbnail.
Even if you hate your teacher, they have the biggest hearts. They barely get paid, spend lots of their money on their students, work extra hours that they aren’t paid for. Thank you to all teachers for all you do for us!!!
I love these!!! Make more
I’m a school psych. I’ve had to buy supplies for my counseling kiddos in the past and it adds up. I can’t imagine how much the teachers I work with spend. Teachers do so much, and I only get to see a part of in the special ed side.
0:21 just because that person was a teachers assistant that doesn’t mean that they were a teacher.
so since Ellen loves teachers and everything they do, i think Dan should definitely go on haha
I used to go to vineville academy in Georgia and teachers whould threaten us kids that if we were bad we would go to the office and get paddled....

I go to a public school in Georgia and I have friends that go to different public schools in Georgia in different counties and at our schools paddling isn't allowed.
I understand that it may not have been as entertaining as a lot of people hoped, though it is raising awareness for what terrible things a lot teachers have to go through, and for that reason I support this video and think a lot more people should.

For the paddling question, I live in Missouri and still in school and I haven't heard of teachers paddling students.
5:00 me: sees Indiana** me: lives in Indiana** Ms. Bischoff: hi! me: gtg!
Maybe we should pay teachers more
As a Kansas student, never seen any corporeal punishment and neither has anyone i know. Didnt even think it was legal 💁
6:00 I love how they kept stopping and playing the music 😂
When I was younger I attended a school where they were aloud to hit us with a paddle.
CT IS COOL AF DAN BE MY TEACHER
They have corporal punishment at my school and we think nothing about it.
Honestly my favorite teacher I've ever had is one I have this year because she found out she wasn't gonna be brought back mainly cause her boss didn't like her because she had issues with another teacher and she told us everything about what she didn't like about her boss and how one of the reasons she wasn't gonna be brought back was because she reported a teacher for trying to do creepy stuff with students. Like, every time he's with a girl student, he closes his class door and turns the light out
Teachers play games!? My life is a lie.
In Missouri the paddle law is that you have to have a parent sign a paper saying the principal can paddle you and you've had to have done something very bad
I'm in school for music education, our one prof was telling us about spending money on students. He said "You're allowed to write off $500 in teaching expenses on your tax returns. You will probably never spend so little on your students." He and his wife are both teachers, they had to buy kids uniforms/nice clothes/dress shoes for performances, had to pay rental fees for kids who couldn't afford their instruments, had to pay out of pocket for music for the kids to perform. The lack of funding in american schools is awful, and determining funding based on test scores is one of the worst things ever. The students aren't good on a math test so the school loses money and the first things to go are music and arts, which have nothing to do with bad math grades but are punished for it anyways. And schools in rich areas do better in tests because they have money, giving them more and poor schools (who can barely afford to pay qualified teachers) less makes zero sense. Schools with bad scores need more support not less.
Teachers are our unsung heroes! Not enough praise is given to our Amazing, Selfless, caring educators ❤❤❤
This was so stressful

As a former trouble maker but since reformed, I wish I had gotten paddled for my behavior because nothing else they did worked for me and most others
Absolutely
Now I’m questioning my aim to become a teacher
What an eye opening quiz. I’m watching this from a Singaporean prospective. It’s mind boggling that teachers 👩🏽🏫 have to spend their own money on school supplies. 🤯🤯🤯🤯

I agree with Dan. The education system still needs more help.
My elementary school in Oklahoma had this principal who would paddle kids in trouble (his office), and then give them a soda or popsicle while they cried back to class. Harsh punishment but nice guy and productive.

So, parents can’t use corporal punishment... but teachers can? Okay, then...
Well, goodbye Arizona! I will not be paddled.
In our school district the average teacher to student ratio is 1/16
bro, absolutely NOBODY paddles anyone in Kentucky. none of the teachers are that aggressive either.
Grew up in one of those 19 states and some of my high school teachers would make jokes about it bc they thought it was ridiculous that it was still legal :/
Do another never have i ever or something like that please
When you are in one of the paddling states and you have school tomorrow
There voices sound like teachers...dang it must be meant to be.
I’m in the Florida public school system. It’s not “paddling” per se, but if the parent wishes to allow the teacher to use corporal punishment, they can. They aren’t smacking kids left and right.
Plz do teachers do never have I ever!
When I was in kindergarten my teacher threatened my class(jokingly) with a paddle and I just found out it was legal. Not happy
