I convinced my students (first graders, in Korea) that I was an extraterrestrial. They were on the fence until I pulled out my Alien Registration Card (my Korean foreigner registration card, which uses the word “alien”). They were 100% convinced after that. I kept the joke up for a long time, but eventually I got a couple complaints from parents saying their kids were obsessed with it.

It's always funny looking back at it and how unafraid I was. I'd really like to work with kids and enforce that specific quality about them.

And the kid started asking "why do we have fireworks" and this spiraled out to me basically telling this kid the plot of independence day and saying the aliens wouldn't come back because of the fireworks. And they yelled at me for it. Like wtf

When I was around 5 I wanted to be a mermaid so bad! I asked my older sister how and she said I had to be submerged in water for 24 hrs. I filled the bathtub up with water, fell asleep and the next day my mom found me in the tub thought I drowned and died. I have never ever been slapped so hard in my life.

Lol!! I was volunteer in a junior kindergarten class years ago, (while I was a college student) I remember very clearly doing story time for the little ones, one of them picked the book of the day. The book was basically a simplified version of the stages of a butterflies life, its perils..etc.. (a picture book of course.) At one point I held the book up so everyone could see the image of the monarch butterfly; I asked, "Has anyone here seen a butterfly like this one before?" The response was not what I was expecting..some said yes, then one piped up and announced he'd seen a turtle once! Then it went to a free-for-all as far as subject went...😂 I love how absolutely random some of those conversations would go, I miss those days.

Best way to interact with kids. Tell them that you're a mermaid. But to be real with y'all, I did this in kindergarten where I said I had a mermaid tail (because Ariel was my favorite princess when I was 6 years old) and everyone of my peers believed it XD

I think to help them learn to discern false claims with a convincing story.

I did this to my student, saying im a vampire. They believed it cause of my fangs 😂

They are amazingly adorable and so inquisitive yet so willing to believe…. Qualities of a good scientist.

Not sure how so, unless he's trying to teach them about the idiocy of people identifying as anything they want and trying to brainwash children. It's truly evil how they're allowing men to decimate women in sports and giving children puberty blockers. Our school institutions today are unbelievably detrimental to our children's understanding of reality.
