Same. I lost both of my parents in 2022 at the age of 30. After my father died, my mother had been secretly taking depression medications while telling us she is fine. So heartbroken was she from the separation from my father. When my mother died, I liked to think she wanted to go after my father and then the lovers were united once more. Emil's story hit so close to heart, a cold-blooded man like myself could not hold my tears. What a beautiful, unique and wholesome friendship Giorgio and Emil had. In loving memory, Emil & his wife.

My father died last year at the very beginning of covid and I was not able to say goodbye as no one was allowed in the nursing home at that point. Blind Date? I remember watching it in one of my French classes in high school. These two people live in apartments directly next to each other but the walls are paper thin and you can hear just about everything going on in your neighbors apartment. It is a love story movie and the girl plays a piano, I think they both do but I’m not really sure. For most of the movie, they have no idea what the other person looks like so it’s very much a ‘blind’ love.

I've been praying for a neighbor like this. We live in a duplex & neighbors come & go. We sold the piano, but I still have my accordion. I play Zydeco/blues & Cajun music on it. Sometimes I play in the guest bedroom with hope that the new neighbor might be a musician. I thought no one heard me 'till this past summer when I spoke to the neighbor next to our apartment. She told me she opens her door to hear me play. That was such a huge compliment but then I got nervous if I made a mistake. I'd give anything for a fellow musician to join up with. I also enjoy playing gospel music with a little Cajun twist to it. Sometimes I feel the music so much that I'll cry through the song. Music touches the soul & is a healthy outlet during these insane times we're living in. I just loved your story...💕

"Music is a universal language." That's something my choir teacher always reminded us of. I think this video proves that fact and more...

I can't begin to find the words to express what I feel. I don't know either of you, but I'm so happy that Emil found a friend who shared a love of piano music to ease his grief and give him a light after his heart was broken. "Dear Emil" is a beautiful composition inspired by a beautiful friendship. I believe Emil will continue to inspire you for all your days and surely he will be pleased.

It’s not true, it can be debunked just by getting a good earphone/headset and just hearing “Emil’s” piano. The music can be heard on both sides but usually if it was on the other side of the wall you’ll hear the piano more in the left ear. Second of all, “Emil’s” piano sounds too clear. It’s supposed to be on the other side of the wall right? If you hear closely it sounds like a pre recorded play, if it was real you would barely hear anything because this guy clearly uses a mic and if you have a mic try recording yourself speaking from a few meters away and it doesn’t sound clear. But “Emil’s” piano right here sounds too clear, almost like it was edited in 🤔 cause it was of course edited in.. Not based of true events but a good story. Aint real though

This story made me cry like a baby. The self isolation of Covid has been difficult emotionally, and we have know loss in our family too. I was born with the ability to play by ear. My grandfather who’d had a stroke, could hear me pick out the tunes from my pre-school. He too was a self taught musician and recognized my natural talent. One of his last request before he passed was that I have formal piano music lessons, which I did. I was his youngest granddaughter. He died in 1971. Music is the driving force, and the universal language of the world. A movie without music is nothing. The themes drive the emotions of the viewer. It helps us feel our emotions, weather thru beating drums of a March, or soft lyrical melodies. Almost every religion has some form of music. Although I no longer play, my parents and grandparents instilled a life long love of “most” all types of music, in mine and my older siblings.

(Crying from this) This is how you know they become best friends. So Wholesome.

His life is literally a Disney movie and I cried like a little bitch not gonna lie RIP Emil and his wife I'm so glad they are together again

The evolution of G’s playing as he becomes comfortable with playing again is something beautiful to behold. Rest easy, Emil. You were lots of people’s ‘light’s too.

I've got severe depression and this impacts my work and my family life. I get up for my little kids everyday but sometimes I just wish I could sleep forever. Mental diseases are not easy, take care of yourselves and the ones around you. May God bless you all.

I thought it was the beginning of a love story, but then I realized it was even better. You have helped a person to feel that there is still hope for a bright future in this life, even if there are no loved one nearby. Thank you for sharing such a sweet story with us.❤️

I can play the piano what I thought was well but now I see that what I have experienced is only a fraction of a glimpse of the world of piano and watching this has made me realise that piano is more important than ever and how prominent music is in my life.

Rather a wall between two pianos… but it couldn’t keep two friends away from each other! Beatiful story!

He's not real. Listen to the piano. This would be muffled, and not this perfect. They're in an insulated complex. Secondly, if you still don't believe any of the other comments, it's crazy how they both have the same sounding piano, both play in the same scales AND this old man with nothing better to do refuses to come on camera. It's so loud too? This guy has been caught out multiple times.

That was the most beautiful storyline I've ever read and heard. The music was beautiful and so was the friendship formed between the two amazing pianists. I hope Emil and his wife are happy in heaven and I'm hoping georgio is alright :)

🥺🥺 Now that I just bawled my eyes out. This was the most beautiful thing ever. I lost my grandma in March and my grandpa just followed her last week so this hit home so much 💓 my grandparents used to love when I played piano for them. Thank you for being a beautiful person 💓

This reminds me of like a sad disney short film where two neighbours play the piano between the walls, but never meet. And then one day, one of them doesn't play back.

We need more of this and less of the anger, hate and chaos. If we could not be afraid to reach out to each other our world would be filled with music and joy.

I love how you see the progression of giorgio's piano skills throughout these videos. he starts out rusty, but by the end of it, he's playing incredibly complex stuff and even composing his own piece.

The way Emil played Titanic's theme is so uniquely sad. RIP Emil.

@@Luizguilherme-iz9yl I'm quite sure it's not fake. At the very least, it's not audio from Tom Muceniek's video. I've been listening to the part at 3:38 where Emil comes in. Tom's style is different. He adds a lot more chords and flourish, and more bass. Emil's style flows, and the bass booms only at the beginning when he comes in. EDIT: Cynlia Tam pointed out there are 2 covers by Tom Mucinex, and the one at kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6mK2JR6Z5rKlag.html at 2:02 is the same audio as 3:38 in this video. I agree. Dang.

This actually happened between me and my neighbor for many years. We practically never spoke to each other, but when I played a song, he learned it and played it the next week. The fact that he guessed very strange songs that I liked really shows his commitment jaja.

Giorgio didn't know him, they just heard the piano playing of each other. They met up one day, Emil was a 78-year old nice guy whose wife died a few weeks ago due to virus things. They played a lot of songs together, but sadly, Emil passed away aswell

What a beautiful tale. I hope he passed away feeling comforted that he had you next door who was able to bring a slice of company, memory and enjoyment in his life. Friends, family and music.

Idk how I rediscovered this but I remember seeing the first few encounters between these two just before Emil moved. Breaks my heart to learn that he is gone but at the same time so happy he is reunited with the love of his life. You could genuinely hear the passion in his playing.❤️

Dear Emil is such a heartfelt composition. It really touches the heart. I keep coming back to this video for hope.

I didn't expect Emil to pass away, but I believe he died happily after 2 months of having someone entertain him throughout the hard times due to the death of his wife. This is heartwarming and should be shared to let people know there is still hope in humanity. ❤️❤️

In all the time since I started enjoying your 'impromptu' videos at various places, your story of the relationship between Emil & you has been the most heart-warming. Your two pianos on either side of a wall broke the barrier & united two beautiful souls. I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend Emil. I hope your heart is lightened knowing you brought light into his life near its coda. What an amazing gift few get to share.
