I tried this with my cat. And 2 years later it's got to the point where I can tap my shoulder and he will jump up onto me and I have to catch him.

zosia she can sit, lay down, paw, jump through a hoop, and hug, still teaching her other things tho, her name is spirit. :3 also she can walk on a leash now..

Thanks for the comment! Do you have a target stick? Teach her to touch the target stick and then use that instead of having food in your hand.

the teacher i guess was using her mouth as a clicker and i only figured out now that i can use my mouth as a clicker so now i can train my cat tricks :)

Follow the teach your cat to perch tutorial. Then your arm becomes the perch :)

Yes, the clicker tells the cat the did the behavior correctly and a treat is coming. Check out our beginner clicker training playlist to learn more about the clicker training.

If your cat will not do that, you need to focus on food motivation: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpWDqMd_m9zbfbQ.html Food is your cat's paycheque. If the cat doesn't value the reward, they won't go to work.

Would you recommend this trick with a 8-month old kitten? I tried it with my kitten, and we got up to the step where you do the actual hug (like outstretching your arms) and she runs away and hides! Please give tips, it’s a really cute trick :)

I don't see why not but is a bit more challenging than some of the other ones. I would try to figure out why she's scared of your arms outstretched and help her see (with lots of treats) that it's not scary.

Keep your arm really low and try putting some yoga blocks under your arm.

Dosnt work, tried with my cat and He wasn’t intrigued at all. After 2 hours of trying he finally got on my shoulder and when I tried to treat him he bit my hand and arm.

If your cat isn't "intrigued" to work with you, that is less about the training plan and more about what you are using to reward your cat. You can always work on building your cat's food motivation. Make sure you feed small scheduled meals and a moisture-rich diet. Reserve dry food/treats for training.
