On May 26 ,2019, Sarana USA, a California based non-profit organization, held a very successful fundraiser at the Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Torrance, California, to help the children who lost one or both parents in the Easter Sunday terrorist bombing in Katuwapitiya St. Sebastian Church in Sri Lanka. Rev. Fr. Alfred J. Hernandez at Catherine Laboure Church granted the church hall, and the church staff generously helped this event.
Ven. Ambalanthota Kolitha, Ven. Yatirawana Sirinivasa of Sarathchandra Buddhist Meditation Center and Ven. Aparakke Punyasiri, chief incumbent of Maithree Vihara attended the fundraising event. Ven. Kolitha and Ven. Punyasiri spoke of merits of helping the victims to move forward.
'Sarana USA" was initiated as a California non-profit charity organization with the help of Ven. Ambalanthota Kolitha Thero, the chief incumbent of Sarathchandra Buddhist Meditation Center, North Hollywood, California.
