Thing about Miko's theme that seperates her from other final boss themes (Okuu's theme is probably the most final boss sounding boss theme in the series) is that it's not out right strong. It's subtly powerful. It reminds me of Tiger Patterned Bishamonten. That subtly powerfulness. It's very nice.

I remember the first time I beat Miko. I was playing as sanae and I finally made it to her with most of my lives intact. (Normal mode)When the fight started I began losing lives each spell card. I ran out of bombs and ended up using a continue at the very last card. After beating her, I realized that in order to get the actual ending I needed to beat her at without using a continue. I then proceeded to go into the bathroom and laugh hysterically. Then, that laughter changed to sobbing..... I was robbed of a victory.

For me, Ten Desires is not a hard game Idk i play as Youmu and most of my deaths are because of getting baited by loot, i was literally about to defeat Miko FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE VERY FIRST ENCOUNTER but i screwed up in the final part.

I don't understand why so many people say she's one of the easiest bosses in normal mode. TD until her is one of the easiest games, but Miko herself is very dangerous for beginners. Her fight is awfully long with 11 phases (Kaguya has 8 for instance) and some of her pattern are pretty menacing. Along with the global lack of ressources in 13, it makes for a challenging boss. I'd say she's for sure harder than Remilia, Yuyuko, Eirin, Kaguya, Kanako and Keiki. I think she's on par with Okina. I think it's also because most people begin with one of the 3 first windows games. By the time they get to other games like the 13, they're more experienced and the bosses leave more of an impression.

I think this is one of those themes that is difficult to appreciate until you hear it in action. I didn't care for it myself until I actually fought her; now it's one of my favorites (alongside Miko herself, though I adored her from the moment she introduced herself).

I have *eleven* desires. Ok, but in all honesty, I find this game just as hard as UFO, being a greed-based game and all. Any useful spirits are basically death traps, not to mention the low amount of lives you get, even if you collect as many life spirits as possible. You basically have to get good at Stage 5, and perfect Stage 1-3, with as little bombs as possible for Stage 4 (or that's just my experience.) Then, at Stage 6, even if you've done good, Miko's last three spellcards will completely bring bullshit upon you, especially when you have no lives left. The last three include, a barrage, a harder version of the first spellcard mixed with Shou's first spellcard, and then some clusterfuck of raining bullets. The extra stage isn't any easier at all.

In my opinion ten desires is one of the more difficult touhou games, the utter lack of resources is what makes the game so hard, you only get 2 bombs per life and not that many extends. It makes this fight waaaaaay more god damn nerve racking than it needs to be. It’s actually a pretty cool and fun fight with some cool ass spell cards!

It's one of the easiest touhou games by far. Yeah there is a lack of resources but the bosses are so simple and you use trance only like 3 times max for extra lives

@Son Goku really? I didn’t know that, I knew you could double the value of life spirits with trance but I’ve never maxed out the lives with trance. Also knowing when to trance can take some time to learn. In my opinion this game might be harder than DDC at least for me. Maybe I’m just weird but I beat DDC with 5 lives and I beat ten desires after it with only 1 bomb left. Maybe I just wasn’t utilizing trance enough idk.

@@lukejensen1222 I am playing on normal mode just so you know. I usually use 1st trance on the third stage right after the midboss. (Kogasa) 2nd trance in the fourth stage at the end when 12 big fairys spawn. 3rd trance I usually just save for the final boss to dodge one of her spellcards. This gets you like 3-4 extends and alot of bombs too, its probably not the optimal strat but it worked for me to get 1cc with all characters Also for DDC IDK if you used Sakuya or not but she is broken in that game

I see some of the criticism about this theme just because it doesn't sound like a final boss theme. I like this theme, can't say it's my personal favorite, but it has a lot of charm to it.

+FAH Holliday I'll give you Sakuya, but there is no doubt whatsoever that Miko was based off of Prince Shōtoku, an actual historical figure of Japan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Sh%C5%8Dtoku JoJo has had a lot of influence on many Japanese games, TV shows, etc., but sometimes you JoJo fans give it too much credit.

When compared to other final boss themes in the series, I've always felt that this one has a more quiet air of menace about it, with the backseat bassline and rolling piano. The other themes are typically more bombastic and awe-inspiring while this one is more gritty and dark. If Byakuren's theme would represent light, then Miko's theme would be the shadow. Considering their rivalry, I think it works out pretty well. :)

people always say this song isn't intense enough to bee a final boss. this is actually one of my favorite final boss themes just because of how badass the motif is. I don't care that it slows down in some sections, because it's all worth it for that motif.

This is by far the most bad ass final boss theme I've ever heard in a Touhou game. I really felt pumped and focused while fighting Miko and trying my best to stay alive. She's pretty bad ass herself the way she says "Play time is over!" on her 3rd phase like any generic 90s video game villain would, and you know that whenever someone says that, shit is about to get real. No other Touhou final boss does that. Thus this theme really suits her

After hundreds of times listening this, my opinion changed. Her theme is final boss-ish, but in a unique way. Most, if not all, Touhou final boss themes are very flashy, like high pitch ZUNpet rape and stuff. This one does have a scent of ZUNpet rape too, but still calm in general. She is so regal, elegant, arrogant, and charismatic that all she need is a cool theme without showy notes. Ironically, though, I said her theme is not flashy, but her spellcards are the most flashy cards ever, and her behavior doesn't help.

The only examples I can think of are Faint Dream~ Inanimate Dream and Bloom Nobly, Ink- Black Cherry Blossoms~ Border of Life. Heck, I'm not even sure if Border of Life is a good example.

Miko's flashiness showed one fierce in her ISC spellcard 'Seventeen Article Constitution Bombs' The vocaloid really must have had it in for Seija in that game. That spellcard was just nasty. Easily the hardest (& to be honest, the most impressive looking) spellcard in the entire game.

SyntaxMagenta The one with the random amulets and unfair lasers? I prefer her golden laser spell. It looks more regal, you know, like a prince's spells should look. And for me, the hardest spell in ISC was Remi's chase. I fucking hate it with a burning passion.

I actually love this theme. It's not the best, but its got like a more progressive trance feel. I like how it builds up.

Honestly, I think this theme blows every other Touhou song I've heard out of the water. It's so eeire, but has a really driving beat at the same time. I love it!

Both very badass and very beautiful, very emotional. Holy hell.

Anyone notice that along with Reimu and Sanae, Miko is also armpit showing?

Well, yes, but I think the difference is that Sanae and Reimu's armpits are accentuated by their detached sleeves. Miko's armpits are fab tho.

MysteriousYou2br Who do you think is underrated as well? or overrated? For me, underrated will have Mary and Renko, they're a very interesting pair. I;m on the MaryXRenko ship. Overrated? That Flandre, I mean, although her theme and personality+backstory is good(especially her theme), but she's just far too reknowned, considering she only appear in a very few story of Touhou, and together with whole EoSD, didn't much take part in back story of Gensokyo(like how much Yukari has taken part as the Youkai Sage). Their role in Gensokyo isn't that important.
