Avran and TC seem to have competing views on wax, and I'm not sure what to do when the parents disagree.

I think Avran would agree, if you're running a timed event, you want wax... his view is that it doesn't make enough of a difference when it comes to everyday riding. At least that's been my interpretation of it after watching this channel for 3+ years.
