TBLeague (Phicen) Imperial Guardian / Saintess Knight

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

BlackSeaRC presents a fully detailed review of the brand new ultra realistic seamless body female action figure "Imperial Guardian / Saintess Knight" in 1:12 scale by TBLeague (Phicen Limited). Part number is PL2021-180D.
The Imperial Guardian figure (alternatively known as "Saintess Knight") was released towards the end of 2021. This new 6 inch (15cm) figure is available in 6 different versions, each one featuring an unique head sculpt. Other features include a fully detailed face, simulated hair, tactile seamless body, internal stainless steel skeleton with ball joints and 22 points of articulation, realistic clothing and a range of accessories.
In this video, BlackSeaRC presents the unboxing before giving you a close-up look at the figure and the accessories. It demonstrates the range of articulation possible and then to illustrate the scale-realism, presents the basic female figure in various role-playing scenes. At the end of the video is an assessment and verdict on this product for those interested in purchasing this figure or one of the variants.
I bought this figure because I wanted a high quality ultra realistic action figure for use in 1:12 and 1:10 scale role-playing scenes. I will use the figure as a RC vehicle driver/passenger and also in scale garage scenes.
The Imperial Guardian 1:12 scale figure is available in the following variants:
PL2021-180A (Gold)
PL2021-180B (silver)
PL2021-180C (Black)
PL2021-180D (Blue)
PL2021-180E (Red)
PL2021-180F (Yellow)
Sometimes the part number comes with a colour reference. Note that this refers to the tint of the armour and not necessarily the colour of the figure's hair, dress or helmet plumage.
TBLeague also produces the Imperial Guardian/Saintess Knight character in 1:6 scale (12 inch) under the part numbers PL2021-183A/B/C.
TBLeague (formerly known as Phicen Ltd) is a well-respected specialist producer of high quality action figures and collectibles. Further information about TBLeague/Phicen and their full range of products can be found here: www.phicen.com

Thank you, thank you, Happy New Year to you as well! I know this video isn't going to appeal to everyone but in my opinion, every great scale realistic RC vehicle needs a proper scale realistic driver. People spend a fortune on RC cars and accessories and then use cheap plastic action figures that don't match the realism of the vehicle. They have visible joints, poor articulation and painted clothes and hair. Actually, finding a scale realistic figure is much harder than you would think. Also, there is huge interest now in scale garage scenes and other dioramas so figures like this are interesting for me and other enthusiasts. I know you work with figures in your animations so you understand the problems with making them look realistic!

@@hwroadbeasts Well you are right of course, these figures are expensive and I was rather reluctant to buy one because of that. I was looking at some anime figures by Japanese company Figma and the prices were scary! They are really for serious collectors only and I suppose the prices are so high because they are often hand made in low volumes. What you say about realism is true. I often see a RC truck that someone has spent 1000+ USD on and they put a 10 USD wrestling figure in it that looks totally plastic. Then there are many scale garage builders who have hundreds of tiny accessories that are perfectly detailed but then they put a figure in the scene and it is totally ruined. Yes, the figure needs to match the car. A wrestling style figure may suit an off-road truck but not a luxurious limousine.

Absolutely, what's the point of a totally scale truck with detailed interior that drives around with empty seats? That ruins the scale appearance for me. • @BlackSeaRC

    @BlackSeaRC

As you can see in the video, straight from the box the figure has a number of items already fitted. The waist armour slides off over her legs. It is quite a tight fit but you can slowly work it downwards. It won't be so easy to get it back on but it is possible The corset unties at the back and removes easily. You need nimble fingers to tie it back neatly as the thread is fine. The chest guard has 2 tiny plastic straps on each side. The ends of these push fit into place so you can carefully pull them apart and the item will then be able to come off (her head needs to be removed for this). Since the tiny straps are press fitted together I would say that there is a danger that the ends could be damaged if the process is repeated too many times. So yes, it is fairly easy to remove the accessories and harder to put them back on. The only other thing to note is that she has armour boots and gauntlets. There are different gauntlets for natural and gripping hands but unfortunately none of just a bare hand. I considered fitting a hand from another TBLeague figure (not sure if hands are available on their own though?). The boots are the same. You could swap them out for a bare foot I suppose. My plan is to buy a basic TBLeague body and try this out. I also want to check custom head sculpts and alternative clothing.

These are pretty neat, just got mine today and I'm curious how did you get the chest piece off? Did you have to break it? Also is there no bicep swivel? On mine her elbow only bends, and can be bent, forward facing, it really limits the pose ability, or am I just missing something? A work around in the shoulders maybe?

  • @BlackSeaRC

The chest armour has 2 tiny straps on each side. These push fit into place, so carefully try to prise them apart and the item will remove. I didn't break it but it is not designed to be repeatedly fitted and removed. I checked the arm and elbow movement on my figure. If, for example, you want to put her hand on her stomach, it doesn't seem possible to articulate in this way. Although the shoulder gives some rotation, it doesn't help much to achieve this type of pose.

I had a similar idea as I wanted just an average girl rather than a fantasy figure. To answer your questions, the waist armour is a single piece moulding that you need to slide off over her legs. You need to flatten the dress as much as possible and slowly work the waist armour downwards. It is a tight fit but it will come off. Getting it on again (if you ever needed to) would be more difficult. As for the chest guard, raise up her arms and look at the sides where you will find 2 tiny plastic straps on each side. The ends of these have little tabs that push fit into place. You need to carefully pull them apart and then it will be able to come off (you will need to remove her head first). Since the tiny straps are press fitted together, I would say that there is a danger that the ends could be damaged if the process is repeated too many times. Tell me, what are your plans for her gauntlets and boots? These are the remaining items that I consider to be not so helpful for a 'natural' girl. When my figure poses with her dirt bike it is fine but I looked for some TBLeague natural hands and also some aftermarket sports shoes. By the way, I plan to purchase a new TBLeague figure soon and again, I'm going for the natural look. I like the new PLMB2022-T04B figure for this application. She will require clothing though but there are some great 1:12 scale outfits available.

When I first got this figure, I didn't think finding alternative hands and feet would be so difficult. However, it seems there are a number of issues. Firstly, I recently purchased a standard PLMB2022-T04B seamless body female figure. The 'B' indicates suntan skin tone. Side-by-side with the Imperial Guardian, it is not exactly the same. I believe that the Imperial Guardian is slightly darker than the T04B. It is definitely not pale. Furthermore, the body shape is different. T04B has a more 'plump' body shape and a slightly rounder face. This means that the hand and feet sculpts of the T04B are wider than the silicone material used on the arms and legs of the Imperial Guardian. The joints are noticeable unless the clothing is used to hide the interface. If you check my T04B video, you will see the Imperial Guardian body with T04B hands and head sculpt. Like this, the skin tone differences and interfaces are not visible but with a different outfit they would probably not work. Buying the hands and feet as part of a body set is probably almost as cheap as buying them separately. I will use the hands of T04B on the Imperial Guardian but I will keep the long-sleeved mini-dress. What I didn't originally realise is that there are so many variances between different 1:12 scale figures. For example, T01A/B are slightly different to T03A/B and T04A/B are different again. The problem is that I don't know which body sculpt is most similar to the Imperial Guardian without seeing them all together. T01B or T03B could be a better match than T04B. This is the link to the T04B video (Imperial Guardian with T04B hands and head sculpt is shown at 12:29): kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6l_xNmQoLOxmbw.html

Hello there and thanks for watching. I don't think TBLeague specifies anywhere what the skin tone of this figure is and unfortunately, I don't have a standard figure to compare against. Looking at it closely though I wouldn't describe it as pale, it looks more like suntan to me. As for the boots, these attach using the standard metal ball joint at the ankle so you could replace them with alternative shoes or bare feet (if you can find them sold separately). I looked into finding some alternative shoes and also natural hands (instead of gauntlets) but they are not easy to find and are expensive. I hope to get the PLMB2022-T04B figure soon.

I know it has been a while since your comment but I thought I'd give you an update. I bought the T04B 1:12 scale figure and I'm using her as a rider for a new RC personal watercraft. All the parts are interchangeable with the Imperial Guardian figure so it is helpful to have different hands, feet and head sculpt. As well as the obvious difference with the hair, the heads are slightly different in size and shape. The T04B figure is the suntan version and matches closely with the Imperial Guardian. I'm not sure if they are exactly the same though. If anything, the Imperial Guardian looks slightly darker in skin tone. I have heard that the special edition figures do not necessarily match the skin tones of the T01-T05 range. If you are interested, check out my review of the figure and the separate video of the figure in action.

If you look on the TBLeague internal skeleton schematic, the shoulder has a double ball joint but the elbow has a more limited joint to replicate the movement of a real arm. Sometimes the shoulder joint may become rotated so that when you bend the arm where you think it should bend, it won't move freely. Carefully move the arm to see if you can find a particular orientation where it will bend more easily, then try to rotate the top ball joint to get the arm in the natural position. Not sure if this makes sense as it is a little hard to explain?

Hello to you in Indonesia and thanks for visiting BlackSeaRC. To answer your questions, I am not sure if the 1:12 scale figures have the same level of detail as the larger ones as I don't own one of the 1:6 scale versions. However, the 1:12 scale figures have the same realistic silicone body with metal skeleton but slightly fewer points of articulation. The clothing on this figure is quite tight fitting and I haven't removed the dress but I have looked and it seems as if it is possible. Note that the silicon skin is not particularly slippery like a plastic figure might be so the clothing material tends to grip to the body rather than slide. It should be possible though and there are various different outfits available in 1:12 scale for these TBLeague figures (check AliExpress for example). I should imagine that the closer fitting outfits could be quite hard to fit though. The bare body will be like the basic TBLeague body you can buy and you can see pictures on sites such as AliExpress. She does have a realistic body shape.

But as you mention above, this figure had a tight fitting fabric clothes, so i assume she can change her clothes. In my country, this "Imperial" version really had a good price, they also sell a body only with the head sculp, but the price is almost the same as this imperial version. So i prefer to buy this Imperial version because they include with body, head, armor, clothes, weapon and many stuff .. @@themozzie Hopefully I was able to help a little bit and more importantly, I am glad to welcome you to BlackSeaRC. Yes, these TBLeague figures are expensive but you can't expect a silicone-bodied figure with a stainless steel inner skeleton giving human levels of articulation and scale realistic clothing to compete with a mass-produced plastic-moulded figure with painted on hair and clothes. In that respect, actually they are not so bad in price. Anyway, I am not an action figure collector either but I am pleased with my purchase. I am thinking about getting another body and head sculpt with some custom clothing but you are right, it is very expensive this way and much more cost effective to get a complete figure.
